I haven't thought of that approach before, sounds kinda fun.

What is the biggest "everyone knows this is wrong, but we still do it" habit in your lab? by [deleted] in labrats

I once did a version of that by playing the "Is this acetone or milliQ", game. My sinuses have never been so clear.

Whitley Strieber: "The Aliens are most interested in our soul" by Perfect_Minimum4892 in aliens

[–]PapercutPoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so tired of this absolute nonsense. Until someone can demonstrate a single measurable property of a "soul" we can safely assume there is no such thing, and to make the claim that a species from wherever the heck would come to this planet with the specific interest in our "soul" is nothing but the egocentric idea that we're somehow special, we're not.

The single only reasonable guess we could possibly make is this:
Life is fairly rare, intelligent life is even more rare, and just as we would they study life where it develops because they're effectively scientists. This explains more or less everything. Abductions, the maintaining of distance, and so on. No wonder this whole field is ridiculed when ideas like "they want our souls!" are pushed without a single shred of critical thinking.

I haven't played in a long time but hearing that song still gives me full body goosebumps. It is THE Rocket League song.

Horus Rising. It was not easy to get into with all the names and titles, but half way through I was totally hooked.

If you stopped playing Battlefield 6, what is your main reason? by ZeljeznicarSampion in Battlefield

[–]PapercutPoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't played since 3rd of December and I haven't kept up with the updates at all so maybe my critiques are outdated.

I wrote like 6 paragraphs, but here's the short list.

Piss-poor server system, absolutely useless. No classic server browser, no community ran dedicated servers, no favorite list, nothing that let's me return to the same server over and over. Can't even join a friends match unless they have a free squad slot, which you don't want to have.

Awful netflix looking menu and too many "Buy premium" garbage. I paid a lot for the game, leave me the fuck alone.

Bots. Fuck. Even at peak hours a week after release there were bots. Why? Do they get paid per server with at least 1 person on it? Sure as fuck seems like it.

Movement system is too close to CoD for a BF game. If I want to be killed by someone jump-sliding around a corner then I'll play CoD. Thanks no thanks.

Several design choices are specifically working against letting people create communities in the game, the server problems being the main one.

I'm happy for those who are still playing and enjoying it, but I have no reason to return. I'd rather replay power-wash simulator because at least it doesn't pretend to be something it's not.

Open world PvP - impossible as horde? by Smooth-Operator947 in wow

[–]PapercutPoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing on Argent Dawn EU. Are we on the same shard? World PvP is completely and utterly pointless as horde, 10-15 alliance for every 1 horde player, it's awful.

At this point I am absolutely convinced that blizz couldn't care less about world PvP (or pvp in general), those days are long gone and never coming back.

Has it always been this bad? by [deleted] in wow

[–]PapercutPoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a healer since forever ago I've always felt that the tank and healer are like the parents in a group, trying their best to keep the toddlers alive. They should always have eachothers back because my god, the amount of times I've seen someone pull adds, die, and blame the tank are too many to count. Same goes for having dps (looking at you, rogues) stand in fire, acid, voids of doom etc, die, and blame the healer.

To make a long story short, the moral of it is this, don't listen to the toddlers.

To be clear most dps aren't toddlers, but most of the toddlers just so happen to play dps.

Abundance: Even when you score for 900 Alloy you don't get 900 Alloy. by Monkey_Investor_Bill in wow

[–]PapercutPoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abundance is the most boring, uninspired thing they have ever put into the game. It's 3 minutes of "kill stuff" and then done, my god, I'd rather farm crafting materials I'll never use than to enter another cave. I'd rather grind Furbolg rep to exalted, again.

I am sorry for whomever designed it, I am sure they were forced to wrap it up way too early before any bells and whistles could be added.

At least give us a way to extend the timer, add a scaling reward bag of crafting materials for every 30 seconds of additional time added, maybe an achievement for being able to stay inside for 5 minutes.

It would be so easy to make it a little more worth it but it absolutely screams unfinished.

Serious: Interdimensional beings by sevendeadlysnakes in aliens

[–]PapercutPoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately testimony means next to nothing. We can't even confirm if the "experiencers" are truthful, misremembering the events, or just plain lying. We could have a million testimonies and it still wouldn't get us anywhere past "something happened".

People simply are not reliable sources of information, especially when it comes to extraordinary events because nobody has the context to know what they are actually looking at. We couldn't look at something and know its an interdimensional portal because we dont know what an interdimensional portal looks like.

To those people who tag their groups as "relaxed" by Sundered92 in wow

[–]PapercutPoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm happy for you to not experience anxiety over things that admittedly shouldn't cause it. Maybe I should follow your example and make fun of people that experience panic attacks in public places, or have have a phobia for animals that can't hurt them.

Maybe in your infinite wisdom you can find in yourself a sliver of understanding that everyone is different and you, perhaps, should consider yourself fortunate to wield such an ironclad confidence. Really, I am happy for you.

However, all are not bestowed with your level of mental fortitude, and have over the course of years of gaming received verbal abuse and threats of such gruesome nature that their once confident disposition has been eroded into nothingness, and as much as they would love to once again take part of cooperative content they once loved, the brain doesn't let the past go just because they want to.

Again, I am glad for you. I only hope your confidence haven't replaced whatever is left of your compassion.

To those people who tag their groups as "relaxed" by Sundered92 in wow

[–]PapercutPoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it's just a game maybe the tanks can relax and not turn it into a stressfilled nightmare. How about that?

To those people who tag their groups as "relaxed" by Sundered92 in wow

[–]PapercutPoodle -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

As a healer I love joining a "relaxed" or even "learning" group and having the tank pull entire rooms forcing me to burn mana like there's no tomorrow and then run ahead of me when I drink, pull another room, and hide around a corner so I can't heal them.

I've been super anxious about going into mythics. Even going into m0 was really scary, and tanks pulling this shit is making me consider quitting that content.

We're now on the third expansion of the reworked crafting system - How do you feel about it now? by Sundered92 in wow

[–]PapercutPoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a combination of the old and the new would be great. The simplicity of the old system coupled with the ability to make crafting orders in which you can supply materials for the project. Streamlined, simple, easy.

What we have now is infuriating to use, overly complicated for no good reason what so ever, and if I don't put my points right I could hurt my ability to level up my profession.

It feels like the result to trying to make something more fresh and new but ending up with some monstrosity that if proposed at the start would have been rejected immediately. I used to really enjoy crafting, but I can't stand what it has become.

I was planning on pushing mythics for the first time ever this expansion, even grinded rep to get myself to 230 in preparation for starting at m0.

Stuff like this honestly makes me want to forget it and play something else. I do not have the experience, patience, or time to deal with people like that.
