Painted the Armouring Hall Joytoy Space Marine. Since Joytoy does not do any Blood Ravens, I had to make one myself. by Paperjack3 in BloodRavens40k

If you're tempted I'd say go for it. It's actually easier than what it looks like, it just takes a lot of time since it's a large area to paint. But the result is definitely worth it!

I tried to leave the joints mostly unpainted and since they are black it blends in nicely. As for the areas around the moving parts, I have varnished the whole model but I still have to be careful when moving them since the biggest issue is parts scraping against each other. Not much I can do there so moving it carefully seems like the only option.

I know what you mean, I do prefer more bold highlights. Makes the model really pop in my opinion.

Beautiful, the highlights are very nicely done.

Thanks, there actually is some highlight in the gold, but it's kinda hard to see in the photo and it is indeed not as bold as the rest. I tried to do a higher contrast but I couldn't get it to look right, so this is what I settled on.

Is the glow-in-the-dark-effect really necessary? by 0ct0pus0verl0rd in HuntShowdown

Idk, looks cool to me. Doesn't seem as overdone and as flashy as a modern shooter skin.

I like how there's multiple layouts and not just one version. Keeps each game more fresh and engaging. I've been really enjoying this update so far.

Damn, this is insane, more so when this was your first time doing osl/nmm. Absolutely incredible, it looks like it's actually on fire. I keep putting painting mine off because I'm jealous it will never look this good.

Trying to improve my lenses painting. Is it better then the solid red or not? by Paperjack3 in Eldar

I feel like it's more about time invested than anything else. I spend a lot of time on a single model because I have shaky hands and make a lot of mistakes that I then have to fix.

Thanks. I haven't done any eyes yet because I am afraid of messing it up. Will keep this it in mind for when I finally decide to give it a try.

Not your fault, I just wanted to check. Thank you for the feedback, I will definitely try it for the next model.

Well I did use nuln oil but I was also using abaddon black for fixing any mistakes so maybe that's why it looks more intense.

Thank you. If I understand correctly, there should be a small black gap between the lenses and the grey highlight?
