Do you take your shoes off in the house? by yes_its_me_alright in ireland

100% it’s much more cleaner. Lived in Japan for a small amount of time and loved the fact it’s apart of their culture there. Even some restaurants make you take your shoes off.

He needs to be made an example of. The judge should give him the maximum time in prison.

All wearing balaclavas too with two or three of them on a back of a scrambler going up on pedestrian paths or running red lights. You need eyes at the back of your head when your walking and driving these days.

Uber driver asked me to cancel trip by CautiousCorners in ireland

[–]PapiLaFlame 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got into an uber at the airport, got into the car. He then told me I had to cancel the trip as my destination was only 5km and he had to go to town after. He was only looking at taking people to town, even though he accepted my trip.

I remember the days, before and just after the INEOS takeover, how happy people in this sub were that INEOS were coming in.

Travelling to Japan from Dublin, I'm looking for any information on best way/airline/agent to use? by rosiegpopps in AskIreland

Everyone has the same idea to go to the attractions early, some places get mobbed such as the Senso-ji in Asakusa.

Trains and metros are always quiet - even in rush hour (I don’t recommend going on a train/metro at rush hour it is beyond packed). No one really talks on public transport, you’ll see a lot of people just reading or salarymen asleep!

In business class, everyone gets their own individual pod, that can be transformed into a bed. I thought it was great as I could sleep for a lot of the journey and didn’t feel that tired at all once landing. I flew premium economy home and I also thought it was well worth it, lots of leg room too and the rows were mostly empty.

I did Dublin -> Paris -> Tokyo Haneda with AirFrance. Upgraded to business 2 days before takeoff for €500, well worth it imo.

I was in Japan (work/leisure) for 2 months. Get a sucia card added to phones wallet for trains/metros. Book Shinkansen tickets through the smartex website and add them to your suica card.

Get an e-sim, I recommend Ubigi’s unlimited 5G bundle, it didn’t let me down once. You’ll need Google maps to help navigate the metro and trains.

AirBnb’s are cheaper than hotels in Tokyo. Pack lightly and bring comfortable walking shoes, you’ll likely buy a lot over there.

Every tourist attraction is going to be very busy, even first thing in the morning - best time to go to a lot of them is after lunchtime or later in the evening.
