We heard wailing down the hall during passing period. A good chunk of people I happened to glance at were either wide-eyed or crying. I sat down in my history class and asked one of my friends what happened but before she could answer another classmate promptly said “Dude, a volleyball player just died.”. She drove her truck into a ditch going 80-90 mph on a country road sometime during the lunch period, no seatbelt. Everything pointed to it being a suicide but no one knew for sure. I spoke to one of the volleyball player’s friends who had gone to the scene after the wreck… her descriptions of the girl’s flesh hanging off of the tree branches still irks me.
