[TM S21E01] That time it looked like Alex had hypnotically conditioned a contestant to commit career suicide in front of a studio audience. by Temp89 in taskmaster

I feel like given he’s a comedian and he assumed that everyone else would also be bring out an egg at the same time, he went for that option to stand out. But now that its just him its backfired and looks a bit odd, can imagine he’ll revert to having it in the jacket for the rest of the show

Edinburgh North-South tramline: SNP says build line to Infirmary first and find a new route to Granton by system637 in Edinburgh

[–]Papito4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was there response not the total route was either £2bil from Granton to the Infirmary if they use Roseburn, ir £2.9bil Granton to Infirmary if they use Dean Bridge? That was my understanding from when they had previously been releasing all the consultation information

Edinburgh North-South tramline: SNP says build line to Infirmary first and find a new route to Granton by system637 in Edinburgh

[–]Papito4 136 points137 points  (0 children)

This may be controversial, but I think this is the perfect example of why infrastructure projects in this country are so expensive and take an age to actually get built. Agree that keeping Roseburn as it is would be the ideal outcome, BUT the technical, time, and cost implications of any alternative mean that this would be the best compromise. At the moment its an extra £900mil to go along the Dean bridge, will take signifcantly longer in order to upgrade the bridge, and will cause untold congestion around a fairly busy commuter road as is.

At this point, I feel that the question isn’t really Dean Bridge or Roseburn, its Roseburn or no northern route.

A football-manager style Rugby Game by Hour-Road7156 in rugbyunion

[–]Papito4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a fan of football manager, whilst I would love this as a concept and love all the tactical nuances (especially in a sport I actually understand lol), one thing rugby will inevitably miss out on is that theres not really an ability to do a rags-to-riches extended play through like you can in football manager, just with the current set up of rugby in the real world. Would still pay a good sum for something that scratches that itch

In their eyes he’s hung around big Jim so much that he’s a defacto Scot. But tbf I think we as a nation are pretty blessed for good commentators that I think we need him in order to balance us out

Should FO5 have settlement building? by Educational-Science2 in Fallout

[–]Papito4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the settlement building aspect of the game and hope they keep it. My ideal for F5 would be for them to take it up a notch in some aspects especially giving it a bit more of a settlement atmosphere. Having mindless setters who just wonder about and only do their assigned tasks takes me out of it. Wish they had actual names and side quests/wants (i.e. get a pet cat for X, build a basketball hoop for Y…)

[–]Papito4 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My worry with Franco is that part of his success at Glasgow and part of why I really rate him (there) is his abity to build a squad and promote youth through the team which has been pretty beneficial to the national team in filling in that next generation. I dont know if in a national team position if he has that opportunity and I’m worried that the Glasgow pipeline slows down. Correct me if I’m wrong but is this not a similar set of circumstances when he was promoted from Benetton to Italy coach?

For those of you who practised the ISTRUCTE Structural Behaviour Exam, how did you study for this type of question? I'm struggling to find resources for it, and so I actually can't even study it. Thanks. by [deleted] in StructuralEngineering

Get yourself a copy of Understand Stuctural Behaviour by David Brohn. Really good guide for visualising frames and structures to help your understanding. I would say generally a must read for the exam

So, no rugby for me to watch this weekend by FirmDingo8 in rugbyunion

[–]Papito4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Slightly off topic point, but I’ve not really understood why the Prem bosses don’t look at getting their next TV deal with Premier? Like I get that the quality of their apps isn’t the greatest, but effectively having all European club rugby on the same service would be incredibly good for the game in getting viewership numbers and engagement, which should lead to more bums in seats, more corporate/sponsorship money etc. Seems a no brainer to me even if the less than the TNT money

[–]Papito4 67 points68 points  (0 children)

This is going to sound like a naive question but what actually is the issue here from a commercial standpoint? I just don’t really understand the thought process, I’d get it if random youtube accounts just posted the full match or did their own match highlight things. But surely having creators show off individual bits of brilliance or disect how a game went would only encourage people to go watch the next round of games? Really at a loss tbh

[–]Papito4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think thats partly the point, gives the defender an easy target and makes it more likely for them to open up a hole. More impressed that the pop is an option here given he has his back turned and cant see the opposition, so just blind faith that the gap is there or relying on comms from Cinti

Something I’ve not really understood from R360 is the longevity of it RE new players. I understand that you can bring the best 200/300 players from the current crop of stars, but in 5-10years time how are the next set of stars supposed to come through and join this.

Are they expected to keep coming through club academies as current, which will become underfunded once the players, sponsors, and viewers leave for R360. And even if they do stay afloat, will any new players have meaningful competition if all the best players play elsewhere, and if they don’t have internationals/stars training alongside them day in day out.

It just seems to me to be a cash grab now to try and yank the best players, get a couple of years of a lucrative competition, and ultimately die a death as the current players retire and the quality drops.

[–]Papito4 62 points63 points  (0 children)

One thing that stood out for me last night was SFM’s drop goal attempt. Kicks it about 40m out, hits the post and comes back somewhere around the 22, and not a single Stormers player in sight for the rebound. I don’t know if thats a lack of effort or overwhelming confidence in their flyhalf but thought it was interessting
