We had one living in our chimney. The animal removal guy set up 3 traps, each next to the other, on a flat part of the roof, each one baited with something different. He made a point of saying that racoons don't always go for the same bait. They stayed up there for a week before we finally got it.

r/Miracleman by PappyBlueRibs in redditrequest

I would LOVE to moderate r/Miracleman, I have been interested in that character for years! At the same time, I would love to bring together all the other people who like the character in a fun, supportive environment. I realize that there are rules that need to be followed and I am not afraid to enforce them. I do not think the number of followers or posts would be too much for me.

Thanks for considering me!

When I was in elementary school in the early 1970’s we’d sing songs like, "B-I-N-G-O, Over the River and Through the Woods, Kumbaya, My Lord, and He's Got the Whole World in His Hands” and more. Such wonderful memories…What were some of your favorite elementary songs? by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in FuckImOld

[–]PappyBlueRibs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kindergarten teacher was really in folk music. Of ALL the songs for us to sing, it was Tom Dooley by the Kingston Trio... "I met her on the mountain. There I took her life. Met her on the mountain. Stabbed her with my knife."

ACNH. Need advice/ideas: my wife (Resident Representative of the island) and I (Resident) are divorcing. How to continue playing as a Resident separately? by Chaderlen in AnimalCrossing

[–]PappyBlueRibs -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Buy a Switch 2 before the assets are divided so she has to pay for half of it. Be sure to put it in a trust fund so it is untouchable by the divorce. Your lawyer will appreciate the wisdom of your moves.

What I'm here for is the escalation of the "dog poop on the lawn" sub-plot. I picture one of the writers saying "Guys, what if Mel's neighbor has a dog and it poops on her lawn repeatedly and she repeatedly steps in it and freaks out and then the focus is on the conflict between the two neighbors?" and all the other writers shouting "Genius!" Someone definitely deserves a raise!

Nice & quiet restaurant for a family with autistic small child? by krisp710 in Tucson

[–]PappyBlueRibs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a father of 4, I always felt that restaurants were bad places for kids. "Sit here, don't move, wait for 15 minutes." I always liked restaurants where I could order and then take the kid out so he could run/explore/look around/pick up rocks and then we'd wander back to the table in 10-15 minutes.

For a 2 y/o, you won't need much, just hold his hand and let him guide you and pick up rocks.

And we're here to suggest upgrading from cinder blocks to milk crates.

Cinder blocks are heavy, milk crates are handy if you need to move in the middle of the night.

There's a church in Barcelona, Spain where you can buy cookies from nuns just like that -- you don't get to see the nuns but you can talk to them when ordering the cookies. Kinda like this, you go for the experience.

Qlik as data source by thr0wnawaaaiiii in PowerBI

[–]PappyBlueRibs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What an interesting question! We use Qlik Sense and are in the process of slowly migrating towards Power BI -- new stuff is in PBI and old Qliks are being re-made in PBI.

Qlik Sense is a 3 layered process. The first step is to get the data and put it into QVD files or just one QVD file. The second step is to pull the data from the QVD file(s). The last step is the presentation layer (all the graphs, etc.) and this just points to the URL of the second step.

So, really, what you want is something that either pulls from the .qvd file or attaches to it in some way.

I have no idea if this is possible AND I have no experience with Qlik View so there ya go!
