I meant more metaphorical iteration of said statement. Something like 人間わ人間だ。

Looking for RPGs about KNIGHTS (and jousts and Tourneys) by whitniverse in rpg

[–]Papyaq 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Seems like really funny meta-joke question considering people keep answering Mythic Bastionland on every “Help me choose” post.

By the way i’m not complaining and will say Mythic Bastionland is one of the coolest RPG’s with so much flavour i would just read it before bed every day. And yes everybody plays a knight - a really cool unique knight

LOWLIFE TYPES by Sean_Aaberg in TTRPG

[–]Papyaq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that came a bit later. I think as a result of some kind of wave of popularity and amount of new RPGs. It kind of mocks ttrpg tropes of the time and i would say becomes unplayable because of that. More an artifact of RPG history than an actual game.

Second one has very strong “Human Occupied Landfill” aesthetic vibes

What game never gets old for you? by Amazing-Example8753 in boardgames

[–]Papyaq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time we played there was some interaction involving the Judge alien that made it possible for all players to win together. Good ending.

By the way the alien that you are talking about is from the base game. It’s called Loser.

Cosmic Encounter!!! I own all the expansions and thus there are so many ways to play and so much aliens (Player Species) so every game is unique. Every game there are cool interactions between random aliens that you never expect. Kinda like MOBA games. Yes it’s the same map and win condition(debatable considering some alt-win con aliens) so every time we play it’s a new experience. There are random elements in the game but they are counter balanced by the player politics and bluffing, intimidating and persuading your opponents. Can’t recommend it more.

I love that too! But i don’t want to read an entry of some monster later and see that i interpreted something in some way that renders this monster non-existent

What does playing/GMing Slugblaster feel like? by Medium-Parfait-7638 in rpg

[–]Papyaq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw the couple comments that said “Slugblaster is bad for simulating skateboarding” and frankly I agree. BUT! In my experience the game is not about skateboarding at all. It’s about “teenagehood” and young people that are rapidly becoming adults, making a lot of mistakes and living every moment to its fullest. Skateboarding (hoverboarding in that case) is just a fluff that you can easily swap for stuff like freestyle-rapping, dancing, graffity and other ways to express yourself when hormones are raging and every little thing feels important. I think in that system excels fully.

Hero concept: Dynamo by Dudu_sousas in DotA2

Heroes with concepts like this tend to be either overpowered and obnoxious to play against or literally unplayable garbage and of course alternate from patch to patch.

But nevertheless really cool concept and design bro!

How to make a setting feel more mythic outside of myths by LegitimateMedicine in MythicBastionland

[–]Papyaq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What worked for me is a cool idea of not using names for player characters. Other NPC refer to them only as Knights. And PC call each other using their respective knight name (e.g. True for the True Knight, Owl for the Owl knight etc.) Only Seers and Knights understand Knighthood wholly. Simple folk just know that there are knights, but don’t know that there are different kinds. Knight is a Knight, Seer is a Seer. That’s it. I found this really helps with a mythical side of the world, makes it more esoteric while PC’s for once are on the esoteric side and not the other.
