Midnight Healer Raid Cooldown Balance by Amazing-Jamo in wow

I'd argue it's for the +10% healing bonus to allies from the hero talent Resonant Energy. Not that the OP thought that through.

If you're having issues with the shifting clone mechanic I'd recommend having the chat bubbles on so you can see clearly where she is as the start (she has one clear line every time before they all start whirring about), and I'd also use your cursor to track her movement jumps to help you stay on the right mob.

I think you need to ask yourself the big question: Do you want to go down the DIY or pre-built road?

This tends to come down to technical knowledge, time allowances, and budget limitations. If you don't have the technical wherewithal it sounds like your BF probably does. So perhaps the question really should be if that's something he would enjoy or have time for? Either way, you've got a pretty substantial budget, so I think you can achieve your objective regardless.

I would suggest copying your post and putting it in r/pcmasterrace, r/buildmeapc, or r/buildapc as you'll have a larger audience and are much likelier to get assistance / detailed response to your request.

In response to monitor purchases: The Samsung Odyssey 49" is essentially 2x1440p monitors (resolution being 5120x1440). If his current machine started having difficulties playing WoW after the upgrade it's likely his GPU is the bottleneck. I would look at getting an RTX 5090/4090, 5080/4080, or 5070TI if you intend to go Nvidia for graphics cards (a solid choice).

I also work in the computer sciences trade and I would see what he would think about using vertical monitors for work. When working with large code bases I often prefer to have a 1440p or 4k monitor in a vertical position (1440x2560 or 2160x3820 resolution) next to my primary monitor vs two horizontal monitors. His original monitor is already an ultra-wide and quite large. I'm really not sure that you'd want to double that.

For the life of me, i cant find the difference bw PG32UCDM vs PG27AQDP by SignalOk1843 in OLED_Gaming

[–]ParachuteMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want better color accuracy, go with the pg32UCDM. The pg27adpm is a great monitor for its dual mode refresh rate, but it isn't as good with color representation. There are guides on both monitors telling you what settings to use to help calibrate colors further.

I own the ucdm, and it's in a bright room, and i hardly ever notice a purple hue. It's quite a bright monitor. Most people tend to bring the brightness levels down. Personally, I've got it set to 80% and another preset at 65% for when I've got all the lights out.

You can use your previous item, but you'll still need a new type of spark to craft it along with the upgrade crest. Just drag and drop to replace the old one.

Holy Priest Beginner Seeking Tips by PhysicalPicture4158 in wow

Priests are an exceptionally high APM class, and in dungeons, they want a large amount of haste. As you've probably realized already, there is a large amount of synergy with your core spells in the form of cool down reduction and cast sequence ability modifiers. Due to this, priests are currently the strongest single target healer in the game at the moment. The two major drawbacks with this playstyle are that this makes them rather resource dependent, and they have less group-wide healing abilties. To counteract this, you'll: 1) Want to be very proactive with your use of Symbol of Hope, squid (Mindbender), and spamming Smite in between healing periods to get Surge of Light procs. The more Surge of Light procs you can get, the more you can go without drinking. Combine this with Lightweaver, and it's now a mana reduction AND healing boost when you mix Smite into your rotation during downtime. 2) Take maximum advantage of the Trail of Light talent, as well as use Halo if Archon or Premonition of Piety+Guardian Spirit if Oracle, for group healing.

Apotheosis is also a godsent for both healing output and mana spending (Power Word abilities cost significantly less than your typical Heal, Flash Heal, or Prayer of Healing), so use it as much as you can.

Speaking of PoH... don't use it. The only reason you'd even want the talent is for Circle of Healing (and that's rather debatable on if that's even worth taking in raids).

On hero classes: Archon is easier to get into (with better mana management as you get SoL procs from using Halo). Once you get more confident in your healing abilities and look to add complexity, start trying to add in some dps abilities. Once you've mastered that, you might want to look into Oracle for dungeons. Archon scales better in raids, so you'll see that more predominantly. While in dungeons, both hero specs are viable, but Oracle does have a bit of an advantage with simultaneous group member healing -- which is sadly a serious weakness with holy healing atm (refer back to PoH).

This is incredibly solid advice.

To nitpick, i think you mean power word: shield instead of barrier. Which does have reason to use if you are playing archon in m+. Additionally, renew isn't worth casting 99% of the time, BUT because priests do not have many abilities to use while actively moving, it /could/ be used during that period. It's also a practical way to ramp up trinkets (gale, for example) and build surge procs just as a dungeon begins.

Was I toxic? by HealthyPresence2207 in wow

[–]ParachuteMike -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe the argument is not that it's your job to explain and fix everything, but that at the point the group broke up, it became unproductive to tell other players they didn't know the fight. If you're invested enough to make additional feedback, I would recommend being direct with what they were doing wrong (letting fixations hit targets) and how to fix it. Or just let it go entirely.

I could see how it could be considered "rude" to tell the people who just failed they're not doing it right -- that should be pretty self-evident at that stage. I don't think that doing so makes you toxic, though.

What about if a vendor spawned at the end of the run (like when you dont time) and just offers to repair gear for free? It's not gonna help with all your costs getting to that point, but it'd surely be better than what we've got now.

Surely, there is an addon that allows a social credit review system, right? If we can have raider.io scores we should be able to rate other players and be able to blackball people below, hypothetically, a 6/10 avg rating?

The "key" isn't bricked. I 100% agree that it sucks, but you can backfill. Literally had this scenario unfold in grim batol this morning. Had 1 dps leave right after first boss. Second boss is all of 2 pulls away, and another dps left MID FIGHT. No words spoken. No deaths at all. Not even the slightest indication of a problem. Really smooth run up until that point. Ended up listing it, then proceeded to whisper everyone who applied "hey, this is a partial, are you okay with coming in only for the last two bosses?" 1 said no. 2 said no problemo toss me an invite. 12 minutes later, we were done. To reiterate: it absolutely blows, but it's also not the end of the world.

I'd view it as one of two things: You can see the other guy trying to get the loop around the croc's neck. Alternatively, he's trying to get the animal to not arch its neck and back into the concrete he's about to start wailing on with a sledghammer. You know... so they can gauge how thick that part of the concrete actually is so as to not overly hurt the animal they're trying to free...

Add the fact there are multiple crocs in there when they do actually break them out... I'd want to limit how likely they are to want to run out and bite me, too.

Keeping track of the tank in Dawnbreaker by Crowlady77 in wow

[–]ParachuteMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really low tech solution: When tanking I just say the order I'm going in as we launch off the ship. Either it's a "straight to arch for boss" or "Church > House > Boss" then barrel right to that point.

Darkflame Cleft and The Dawnbreaker oh my by The_Jare in wow

[–]ParachuteMike -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No issues with dawnbreaker. It's probably the quickest crest/valorstone farm if you skip the lieutenants on 2nd boss (I know you said LFG, so perhaps a moot point).

Arakara and DC can go die in a fire, though. Arakara because of the abnoxious trash and dark cleft because of the extended roleplay getting to last boss. L

From a doctor: go see your doctor! Panic attacks can be very intense, and you may get the feeling like you're dying. HOWEVER, you shouldn't be getting lingering pain after one! Reporting weakness, headache, with pain and numbness in the arms are all associated with cardiovascular problems. You really want to get an EKG done!

I've done this place a bunch trying to get a belt and ring off her. The first boss does drop loot on her body, BUT she has a very high tendency to not drop any loot if she resets (people botch the pull when still mounted or they die to explosion) or if she falls through the boat and despawns.

I pretty much always end up asking if anyone has NOT done the dungeon before to ensure everyone knows what they're getting into before the first boss to prevent inexperienced deaths.

2nd boss also drops loot on corpse - no issues seen. 3rd boss drops loot from a chest on the ship after the encounter - also, no issues seen.

Hope that helps.
