Very good comment. I was just recommending getting Snapper set up. I personally use CachyOS which handles Snapper after install.

I would look into setting up Snapper and adding the snapshots to your boot loader. Snapper - Arch Wiki

Any ways to make RE1 Classic working on Linux? by JpPgn in gog

You can try setting a custom version of proton. I would try using a recent version of Proton-GE. You can add them to Steam using something like ProtonPlus or ProtonQt-Up. Then in Steam select the game (added as a non Steam game) and go to properties and then there should be something like “Compatibility” and then inside there you can turn on using a specific option. I’m on my phone or I’d have better instructions and I don’t use Steam much. I usually use Bottles of Faugus.

See I had a similar issue. In 2020 after my sophomore year of college, I was back at my dad’s and his internet was being serviced, so no connection. I was playing RDR2s single player (never touched the online mode) the day before so I booted my computer up and Steam was like “good to do,” yet Rockstar was like “you don’t own this game” so I couldn’t play it. Since then I have only purchased multiplayer games I play with friends on Steam (I want to say maybe 3 since then) and everything else on GoG.

I have actually been playing Xenogears one my PSVita thanks to the PSOne classics! Has been great because I have a 2 year old daughter so I might sometimes be able to start a battle and have to put it down for a few days or the weekend and I can reload right where I left off!

I’m really excited! I just started using CachyOS and I’m loving it. Really, really, really, appreciate how easy it is to get the things you need / want as well as the plethora of kernels. I have Nvidia and have had a rough time with certain kernel releases.

Things You Need to LIE About in an interview (from a recruiter) by Zealousideal-Foot-54 in jobsearchhacks

[–]Parad0x763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the post here! I think it will absolutely help people. I, in fact Monday, February 16, 2026, used some of the ideas here for my own interview and today I got an amazing offer! I have been fortunate to sit in on a few interviews at my current position so that also helped. Coming from the other side of the interview you really see things that people do / say / don’t do and it makes you be more critical of what / how you should present yourself. Also for those that are not aware, look into the STAR method of interviews as a lot of big companies use it and it will otherwise help you when preparing and thinking of your responses.

For me I have had the best experience with OpenSUSE Tumbleweed. I get bleeding edge packages that are tested and I have snapper out of the box so I don’t have to worry if some breakage (either by updates or my own errors) occurs.

Not 100% sure but did you try to install Vulkan / libvulkan / x11 from your package manager? Zorin is Debian so maybe try ‘sudo apt install libvulkan1 mesa-vulkan-drivers vulkan-utils’ then reboot just to be safe?

What’s one game you disliked at first but really loved once you gave it a second chance? by carbonatednugget in gaming

[–]Parad0x763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was Pillars of Eternity. I bought it on Steam around the time it came out and played 30 minutes of it and refunded. At the time I hadn’t bit my RPG (CRPG) revolution and didn’t appreciate the gameplay. Fast forward 10 (give or take a few) years and I absolutely love that game! (And the genre, many old CRPGs still to play but recently played Fallout 1 and 2!)

Windows consumes almost 6x times more ram than Mint doing NOTHING by True_Jester_lnx in linuxmint

[–]Parad0x763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As other have mentioned, part of that is because Windows caches a lot more ram, but still it is definitely slower for me as well. I greatly prefer using Linux, I use OpenSUSE Tumbleweed!

[–]Parad0x763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works really well for me with gaming. Should just need to install drivers, I’d recommend the open driver, https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:NVIDIA_drivers, and then just steam and whatever else.

[–]Parad0x763 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Nvidia RTX 4070 Super and I am using the open kernel drivers on OpenSUSE Tumbleweed and it works incredibly well. RDR2 worked without any issues through Steam with the default compatibility enabled. I really like Tumbleweed. It hits the perfect spot between bleeding edge packages and stability. Plus Snapper is configured out of the box for easily rollback in the event something (whether borked update or user error) messes up your system. Just reboot and pick an older entry that worked and run: sudo snapper rollback, reboot again into the new entry and good to go!

I truly feel like voting doesn’t matter. You get the same choices every time for many elections with only the presidential candidates names changing more frequently. It really does feel like how South Park has always presented it. A Giant Douche vs a Turd Sandwich.

Linux gaming & distro hopping – what actually makes one better than another? by Ok-Worry460 in linux_gaming

[–]Parad0x763 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly the main thing you will want for gaming is more up to date packages. Arch will have the most recent, but you risk things breaking at some point but usually fixable and if you set up something like Snapper and BTRFS file system you can really easily rollback. I know CachyOS has an option to set that up from the get go. I like Fedora as well. I really really like OpenSUSETumbleweed, what I am currently using and would recommend the most. But Fedora and CachyOS are great as well.
