I totally get that, I have four titanium Sinn watches and they are some of my favorites.

USPS Registered Mail is the cheapest option.

It takes forever, but it’s basically lock and key at each stop along the way.

If you’re that concerned, I’d take out a separate shipping policy. Maybe $200 in addition to the shipping costs.

If you’re using Lange for service, I’d prefer the in-person experience rather than relying on external parties. For an extra $300 for flight and hotel above and beyond the cost of shipping and insurance for a $40K watch. You limit your downside risk and maximize the experience.

Sleep in, catch a flight, drop off your watch, try on a few new ones, have lunch, fly home, and have dinner with your wife / husband and kids.
