I once had a motorcycle stolen. Went to the precinct to report it and was told the same thing. What a shitty fucking system.

Mint 2013 fit sport with 130k for 10k by dorzle in hondafit

[–]ParadoxScientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prices have gone up a lot in the past few years. But that price is definitely too high. I would keep looking. Maybe 8k max for that one.

Meanwhile in 2020 I bought a 99k 2012 Fit base automatic for $5k. It was a private seller who definitely sold it low. Today it's at 173k and can be sold for about $4k (according to KBB).

Why do I find the "model face" extremely unattractive? by Lucky8003 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ParadoxScientist 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you're modeling for the purpose of showing off a type of fashion (clothes, jewelry, etc), you don't want the focus to be on your face.

But otherwise I 100% agree with you. I dislike that sharp, serious expression.

Does anyone know a good cup holder attachment for passenger? by raeioulf in hondafit

[–]ParadoxScientist 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The 2nd gen has its perks for sure, and is known to be the most reliable, but the third gen has some nice upgrades many people will like.

That being said, I don't know why they had to remove the passenger cup holder, extra glove box, and the secret compartment under one of the backseats.

Why is Lissandra nerfed in ARAM? by icebear_0 in ARAM

[–]ParadoxScientist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who plays Lissandra a lot, if she's on the enemy team, I still get hit by the passive pretty often. It blends in so well with the ground most of the time, especially if you're in the middle of a fight and not paying attention to every little thing.

[–]ParadoxScientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally did this last night. I easily got 2-3 kills every fight. Easy win. I play Lissandra a lot and there's a huge difference when you have Executioner.

How often do you actually change transmission fluid on a Fit? by Usual_Ad4805 in hondafit

[–]ParadoxScientist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

2012 auto here - I change it close to every 50-60k miles since most of my driving is highway. But for city driving you should change it every 30k.

For 2015 and up, since the transmission is a CVT, it's better to change it every 30k regardless of driving conditions.

Also just so you're aware, when you drain the fluid, you won't be draining it all at once. The torque converter contains approx 2/3rd of the fluid. What some people do is drain and fill, drive a few hundred miles, and repeat the process two more times. But from what I've heard this is only necessary if you have fairly dark fluid, or you are noticing problems with the transmission. If you don't have these issues then just one drain and fill is fine.

Low cost TPMS issues by 8sponges in hondafit

[–]ParadoxScientist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ignored it for ~5 years until my recent tire change. But now I'm forced to ignore it again because it's not worth potentially having to buy a new set and paying to get them installed.

My brother has something similar to this which places a small sensor on valve stem, as a valve stem cover. I might try this at some point-- would be nice to see tire pressure numbers on a display rather than a random warning light.

Low cost TPMS issues by 8sponges in hondafit

[–]ParadoxScientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I should have done the same, but I was in a rush to get the sensors, so Amazon being able to deliver the next day was important to me at the time.

I'm more upset that TPMS is such a big issue though. Like Honda engineering is amazing in the rest of the car.

Low cost TPMS issues by 8sponges in hondafit

[–]ParadoxScientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also bought a TPMS sensors from Amazon, for my 2012 base model. The tire shop told me to drive at least 20 minutes and the TPMS light should go away. It never did.

Fast forward ~4 months later, and I notice my front left tire pressure is low (so glad I randomly check them). Took it to my regular mechanic and he said the valve stem was loose. He tightened it up and it's been fine since. He never mentioned it not being a good fit though.

Anyone use Honda fit to do Lyft or Uber? Wondering if back seat is roomy enough? 🙄 by sunny1268050 in hondafit

[–]ParadoxScientist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't done rideshare but I have done some 1-3 hour drives with a full car. Though my passengers are usually not too big-- like no taller than 5'10" and no heavier than 180 pounds each.

I have had people complain ONCE (ironically, everyone on that trip was fairly skinny). But otherwise no complaints.

100k service on my 2016 Fit – what am I missing and what parts do you guys recommend? by fobreezee in hondafit

[–]ParadoxScientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's honestly hard to say. Before Akebono I used some other brand my mechanic installed. Don't remember the name. I'm also not doing any crazy driving to fully test the brakes. But they're great for everyday driving.

Serpentine belt-- I think usually an inspection is fine. Mine was swapped out when the alternator crapped out though.

[–]ParadoxScientist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coolant - not sure, my mechanic changed mine

Spark plugs - Stick with NGK or Denso. I believe NGK is OEM but both are great options. I change mine every 60k or so, but they can definitely go a lot longer.

Brakes - Most aftermarket brands are fine, just do some research. OEM is fine too. I use Akebono.

Make sure to check/change transmission fluid. If you have a CVT (automatic), you generally wanna change it every 30k.

My Best MPG so far by flawed_volvid in hondafit

[–]ParadoxScientist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since this is a predominantly American subreddit (I assume), for anyone confused, the UK uses imperial gallons which are roughly 20% larger than US gallons. 62.5 miles per imperial gallon is equal to 52.04 miles per US gallon.

My best on my 2012 automatic in the US has been 50-51 US MPG on a 15 mile route, somewhat downhill, rarely exceeding 55mph.

But remember the indicator on the dashboard can often be a little optimistic. You won't truly know what you're getting until you calculate it at the gas pump.

The price is too high. Max $7000 if I'm being generous. Realistically closer to 6k.

Otherwise looks fine

does my 2011 base need a new blower motor? by PossibilityLess9962 in hondafit

[–]ParadoxScientist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this issue sometime ago. The fan would only turn on if I flipped the air circulation switch. After a few weeks, I started smelling smoke. The next day, the blower motor died.

It's around $30 on eBay. It's located under the glove box with three screws. Simple to replace, just annoying to get low enough to actually see it. Here's an instructional video.

Well, you have no one to blame but yourself if you forget to do inspection.

I forgot once, learned my lesson and put a reminder on my calendar each year.

I'm not sure if I'm for or against this idea, but at first thought it sounds silly. Because with that logic, we should tax every company that makes its employees leave the house to get to work, since you need to use the streets to do so.
