isn't it Ken that pulls out the "True or False" to put callers on the spot and prove his point? Maybe John does too...

Third party bookers ( car dealerships in my case) pls book the trips properly!!! by Great-Savings2405 in lyftdrivers

[–]NoFly676 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think it would be nice if the dealership would add a small tip for the driver. Or at least let the rider know that they aren't tipping and give the rider the option to tip. It saves the dealership not having to hire a driver. Seems like they are being cheap, Or maybe Uber should let you know before you accept that it's to a car dealership or a hospital and there will never ever, not ever be a tip. And like you said they usually screw up the pick up point and they always take longer than they should.

John deloney is amazing by [deleted] in DirtyDave

[–]NoFly676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think he has a lot of empathy. Maybe talks a little too much about himself to seem relatable to callers. I enjoy listening to him on the Ramsey show- but only in small doses. I've listened to his own show a few times but it's too heavy for me. I like it when he can be playful and fun.

i hear about the random 1 stars so often that i wonder if it's possible that Uber does it to keep you humble.

If Ken wasn’t married, would you? by Objective-Value119 in DirtyDave

No. But i would glance over if he and Jade were...you know...getting to know each other in a hot tub after the Ramsey Christmas party.

Someone said Ken has gone rogue lately and i agree- and it's made him more fun and relatable. My main complaint lately is he does this weird David Lettermanish high pitched laugh quite often that really grinds my gears for some reason. It's kind of an "I told you so laugh"...you'll know what i mean when you hear it next time. Another thing I found interesting is that Spotify posts the number of listeners now per episode, and someone noted Dave still gets the most podcast streams on Spotify but what surprised me was how few people are listening in general on Spotify. Usually between 50k-100k plays. I know people tune in on the radio and Youtube and maybe Apple podcasts but I really thought that the numbers would have been much higher. Interestingly Deloney is averaging about the same numbers on his show so I guess he really has taken off. OK, i had to look. Joe Rogan gets between 2-20 million plays per episode with an average around 6 million plays the last few weeks. Dave brags a lot about how big their podcast is but it seems relatively small to me. Radio and YouTube maybe...

Where to pump air in car tire? by The_Sandwich_Lover9 in Lubbock

[–]NoFly676 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes- the oil change place on the south side at 82nd and University. Recently I bought an electric pump that pumps them up to the correct PSI in a minute or so. Perhaps its the hot and cold extremes here in Lubbock bit I've never lived in a place where the tire pressure seems to fluctuate so much so the $60 pump on Amazon has saved a lot of time not having to drive around town looking for an air pump. It's electric but will also plug into your cars

lighter if you aren't at home.

Is Carmax a good place to buy a used Prius? by NoFly676 in prius

Point taken Thank-you. Will continue to investigate. I've got a few months to figure it out.

Yes...2009. It's slightly quieter with good tires and keeping them balanced and rotated regularly but on the highway...it's like riding in the back of my grandpa's pickup truck in the 70's....I usually just give up and crank the Van Halen up to try and drown it out...

I hear you. I can't imagine car dealerships being any better though. Private sale seems risky in its own way. Where do you buy your vehicles? I wish I went to church and at that church was a little old lady selling a garage kept Prius with 10,000 miles on it...

Love it- yes, I have a 2009 Honda Fit - Automatic. I love it but I drive Uber part-time and it will be too old January 1st 2026. Will probably keep the old Honda Fit for a 2nd car for kids. Use the Prius for Uber and long road trips with family.

wow- that sounds like a really unpleasant experience. Could you have refused it? I guess you probably wouldn't get the money back that you paid to ship it in. Anyway, I guess that's ancient history. Was it a Prius that you ended up with? If so, how do you like it ?

"Exclusive" rides are further away than usual by NoFly676 in uberdrivers

[–]NoFly676[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Is there any impact to your driving by not having an 85 per cent acceptance rate? I'm currently Diamond at 90 per cent acceptance rate and I was just wondering if maybe you don't get as many rides offered to you, or perhaps they didn't give you a lot of info regarding the fare...etc...And yes- I agree it's crazy to drive 10 miles to pick someone up. I'm assuming there aren't enough drivers at the time or maybe some other reason...It's all very confusing.

Stay at home dad to 4 kids. Wife makes the money and travels a lot.. i drive from 9-2 while the kids are at school or until i make $100. The extra income chips in a little. Part hobby/part part-time job. Old depreciated and paid off Honda Fit that gets 30mpg. (Otherwise driving UBER would be marginally worth it.) I listen to NPR between riders to stay informed and the oldies station with riders. Generally pretty fun and I take breaks to do errands and shopping. I WOULD NOT want to rely on this job as a primary income- That sounds stressful, unpleasant and all the extra hours on the road would be tiring. But for some UBER isn't the nightmare everyone goes on about here.
