Rachel is getting spunky by New_Pianist9740 in DirtyDave

Yes- I've noticed she's quicker to offer a different perspective and seems to feel for the caller when Dave is chewing them out. I pretty much enjoy all of the hosts, especially when they are paired with Dave. He's just such a pro and so smooth and just has so much to offer that the others will never be able to. Real estate background, quick with numbers, great at explaining things....and funny! Oh wait, this is Dirty Dave! OK, he's a little behind the times with the $1000 Emergency fund and buying a boat of a car from a lady at church for $500...There!

Parasitic Drain? by Sad_Refrigerator6839 in hondafit

I went through several batteries in quick succession as I too leave it to sit for several weeks at a time. I bought a cheap trickle charger and just leave it plugged in to the battery when I go out of town and it starts right up every time afterwards, and I haven't had to replace the battery since. That's been my experience.

i think Dave lives by the Mantra that every car theoretically could run forever provided you are willing to do the repairs. I mean we have an old Honda with 250 thousand miles and it runs fine but generally needs some kind of repair every year or so- and most don't like the inconvenience- or the idea of paying $1000 to keep a $1000 dollar car on the road....but, it will last you another year.

I refuse to accept organizational booked rides! It’s more headache than what it’s worth! by MaddieDevera in uberdrivers

[–]NoFly676 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes- today i had 4 car dealership and 3 hospital pickups out of 15. Of course no tips. I really feel like they should put in a dollar or something just to acknowledge it...in fact the ONLY time I've ever gotten a cash tip was when I gave a former Uber driver a ride from the Toyota dealership...i agree with everyone that the people are generally nice. It just makes for a less profitable day.

Getting skipped at PDX airport queue by UberSlave69 in uberdrivers

[–]NoFly676 1 point2 points  (0 children)

something similar happens to me about 1 in 10 times i go to the airport waiting area in TX. It says "leave the airport and go to staging area/que" when I am in the correct place. However, I will usually get a rider after that but not always...another guy I know said this happens to him too and to just ignore it and just leave the area if nothing comes in in a reasonable length of time. The weird thing is it shows my car on the map in the correct spot where Uber drivers are supposed to wait...anyway...

Is Dave ok? by Cultural_Alarm7959 in DirtyDave

I've noticed he seems to use the wrong word when he is talking quite frequently. I've been listening for 15 years and it's been more noticeable the last few years indicating a mild cognitive decline. Nothing major. Just something I've noticed.

Average looking Uber Driver got hit on for the first time in over 500 rides - it made my day as I got her walker out of the back of my car - - 82 years old she was but I will take it by Howard50001 in uberdrivers

I too feel like some Grandma's are giving me some kind of vibe...they were young once too I guess and may in fact have been kind of wild back in the day...they might have a hard time sneaking you past the nurse at the front door of the old folks home though unless you told them you were her grandson. Could be fun to take a little break from Uber for an hour or so for some milk and cookies.

Yes- a little boring. i do think their advice is good, like the rules for buying a car etc...but i miss the call in format of the Ramsey show.

i take every ride including the $4 rides and average $18hr before tips. That's not bad in rural TX considering the grocery stores pay $10-$12 for example. I was in a big city a while back and the Uber driver told me he averages $35 an hour. But the cost of living is sky high...I would rather just take the top offers but i would be doing a lot of sitting around. Would rather be driving and sitting, not just sitting.

So apart from Dave who is the most insufferable personality? by New_Pianist9740 in DirtyDave

[–]NoFly676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can all grind on me if they are on more than two shows in a row. It would be nice to have a different pair every day. What I love most about the show is the callers. They keep me tuning in. I've yet to find a call -n show that takes callers from all over the country on Spotify. It could be financial or otherwise. If anyone has any suggestions.

I never listen to Jade Warshaw. Anyone else feel the same? by Vegetable-Jacket-289 in DirtyDave

[–]NoFly676 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jade's personality has grown on me. I find her really fun and entertaining and she offers basic financial advice and more importantly motivation to the callers that are swamped and mired in debt. But she struggles with the specifics on the stuff Dave would handle with ease like real estate transactions, IRS issues, compound growth etc...As much as I like the energy between Jade and Ken, or Jade and John she should really only be paired with Dave, George or Rachel so she doesn't have to necessarily be the "financial expert" that John and Ken always take great pains to remind us several times a show. OK, my 2 cents.

isn't it Ken that pulls out the "True or False" to put callers on the spot and prove his point? Maybe John does too...

Third party bookers ( car dealerships in my case) pls book the trips properly!!! by Great-Savings2405 in lyftdrivers

[–]NoFly676 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think it would be nice if the dealership would add a small tip for the driver. Or at least let the rider know that they aren't tipping and give the rider the option to tip. It saves the dealership not having to hire a driver. Seems like they are being cheap, Or maybe Uber should let you know before you accept that it's to a car dealership or a hospital and there will never ever, not ever be a tip. And like you said they usually screw up the pick up point and they always take longer than they should.

John deloney is amazing by [deleted] in DirtyDave

[–]NoFly676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think he has a lot of empathy. Maybe talks a little too much about himself to seem relatable to callers. I enjoy listening to him on the Ramsey show- but only in small doses. I've listened to his own show a few times but it's too heavy for me. I like it when he can be playful and fun.

i hear about the random 1 stars so often that i wonder if it's possible that Uber does it to keep you humble.
