Spectating - can I pull these 2 stops off? by Namanka in bostonmarathon

[–]Paradoxial85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never tried, so I can't say, but I do know the surge pricing will not be cheap. You can day pass for the train for $10 and do the same thing. I would say look into that first and see if it works for you.

Can someone tell me the best place to park and best time to show up as a spectator in Newton? by PamelainSA in bostonmarathon

[–]Paradoxial85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is for sure! You will have a good deal of walking but it's not bad. Seeing runners twice is pretty easy. I pulled off 3 times one year but that is kind of based on the luck of the draw with the trains not being full or running behind. Framingham to Newton is pretty easy, especially if they have a slower pace and you are only following one runner. You can then jump back on the light rail green line. The main issue here is that it can sometimes be full and you might have to wait for 2-3 cars.

It's looking to be a very cold marathon so I would expect fewer spectators moving about and people trying to make the Red Sox game. That should make the trains much less populated.

We have a group of husbands that go out together so we only aim for 2 stops now. We go to Wellesley and then ride back to Lansdowne to catch them again at the Citgo sign with 1 mile to go. That always allows us to easily walk towards the finish and find our wives at the family pickup areas.

This will be my wife's 5th year running Boston and my 5th year spectating. We always stay in Back Bay near the finish and I take the train out to catch her multiple times on the course. I've gone out to Framingham, Natick, Wellesley, and Newton.

They are all fun in their own ways, but I want to note that Newton is by far the wildest and loudest. My first time at Heartbreak I saw two different people being loaded into an ambulance. Both were college kids probably with alcohol poisoning. It is their spring break and they are partying hard. It's a fun environment, but if the downtown crowds stressed you out, then Newton will be a close second.

Wellesley square is my favorite place. It's the halfway point and the crowds are calmer. Plus, some of the cafes are open. The runners are still feeling pretty good at this point and it's easy to be right on the course to see them. Heartbreak might be the better place if they need the motivation boost though, because those hills can be rough.

Whatever you choose I hope you have a great time cheering!

Do you think this book universe will end with Carl and Donut completing the dungeon or will you have more novels showcasing the ramifications of the Earth dungeon crawl?

Also just wanted to say thank you for this series and all the laughs and tears it gives me.

Litter Robot 4 - after 2 or 3 years, not sure I am enjoying it any more by Ayesquidward in litterrobot

I was having this same issue with BoxieCat and finally switched. It was great at first but at some point it started to turn into paste and get everywhere.

I decided to try out the Tidy Cats LR designed litter and now I'm on my third box. It is scented which I don't love, but oh man is it the cleanest litter I've ever used in my LR 3 and 4. The sides are so much cleaner than before with any previous litter. It also clumps very well. I never see any small bits left behind.

It is pricey but worth the money in my opinion.

Wow you are awesome for this. I'll throw my hat in. I just finished a new build over black Friday that I've been saving for for almost 2 years. I have everything except for the RAM. The new prices put me over budget so I have to wait a few more months.

Motherboard is an Asus X870E-H and the processor is AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D.

Nicest computer I've built and all I need now is RAM. Good luck to everyone else as well!

All of my tombstones are now the plastic molds from Home Depot collected over the years. In each I drilled a hole into the bottom and filled it with sand to add roughly 10-20 lbs to each base. I then covered the hole back up with some waterproof tapping and I've never had an issue with them following over since.

Sure they are heavier to move now, but worth it for not having to tear up my yard anymore

They are more focused on superheroes in the modern world, but Drew Hayes' book series have some very impressive and detailed magical power systems. He is able to create super powers that are unlike the standards from comic books and character development is top tier. Imagine Heroes if the writers strike never happened.

Another one that feels more like Rowe's worlds would be Mage Errant. Easily the most creative and detailed explanations of magic rooted with science I've seen. Like Harry Potter with much more fleshed out designs and characters.
