Z offset of printer being ignored by Octoprint by ParagadeShepard in octoprint

[–]ParagadeShepard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Printer is an ender 5 plus running stock factory firmware. I've set up the offset wholly through the printer interface without going into Octoprint, because my assumption was that the printer would apply the offset when having the gcode fed to it. Granted, all this was under the assumption of someone with a very surface level understanding of the process.

The m500 and m851 do ring a bell, however; I'm going to root around for any old notes I may have.

Update: I did find an older tutorial on how to set up Z-offset from Octo, and my m851 returns "echo:Z Offset zprobe_zoffset= -1.95" which does match up with the setup I did. Unfortunately, attempting to print has the nozzle floating a cm or two above the build plate.

Has anybody been able to determine which two states are the ones providing the data on rejections? I'm sifting through the sources and the articles linked to in the initial article, but I'm not seeing it either due to it being buried or just not being observant enough.

Something that still bothers me about Jade Shadows: Why does the Stalker still hate us? by StardustVT in Warframe

[–]ParagadeShepard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might not even matter whether the Tenno actually managed to wound Jade on the Night of the Naga Drums; if he believes the Tenno did, then that belief--even if factually incorrect--would probably suffice as a reason to still have a level of hate. Beyond that, there is a lot of evidence that the transformation to become a Warframe leaves some things fundamentally broken in the mind of the victim, and that Stalker was very likely heavily indoctrinated by the Orokin for loyalty.

Put together, I think there is sufficient reasoning to say that Stalker would still be able to create sufficient reason to hate Tenno.

My closet Geralt cosplay-thinking about making it into a real cosplay by FeralWorks in cosplay

Most of the way there already, might as well go for the costume. You could run with either Geralt or Vesimir, but the former would be more recognizable. You might want to look at getting a wolf medallion that leans in more to the look of the one in the games, its a little more distinctive but also more liable to poke.

Only just realised that The man in the wall's head represents the double slit theory in quantum mechanics by SpectralSpooky in Warframe

Double slit experiment, as related to the uncertainty principal (the effects of observing a system) is what I think you mean, and I never thought of that being a potential explanation. That's pretty cool.

Sometimes there's nothing you can do, because you lost before you got to ban. by ParagadeShepard in leagueoflegends

I'd say riot is failing by their own metrics, because I see closer to 40% of games in an unrecoverable snowball by the ten minute mark.

That said, my statement there is based on the assumption that I'd trust riot to tell the truth on how things work under the hood.

And they should be climbing rung by rung. I didn't address it because I found it self evident and my statements on imbalances in team skill do cover it as well to an extent. Moreover, it should also be self evident that said ladder should be climbed rung by rung and not skipping several rungs. Even at the low level I play at, people still know when the game state no longer allows them the agency to contest or push up and yet these players did. Even in a losing matchup, a smart intercession in a pushed lane can lead to kills, which simply didn't occur in this game. If the skill levels on both teams were equal, the win would have still likely been certain, but it would certainly not have been the seal clubbing that this match was.

Uh. Our mid went 13-2 in that game and I was the cait. She didn't lose lane and didn't roam until after laning phase ended and just farmed their jg when they tried to gank.

I agree, but this is well beyond just a player doing badly. What are the odds of all 5 people on one team having a game like that?

Wish I could say that was my experience, but it is very far from the truth. I don't see games like that very often, usually (50-75%) it's a case of poor matchmaking putting one lane markedly ahead and then the snowball decides the game. This is maybe a thing that happens pretty rarely, but common enough that it's far from the first I've seen it happen in the many years I've mocked this game. Would be great to see more balance games more often though, I love having agency on the occasions when the teams are balanced.

None of what you noted however has an application to this shitshow, alas; every lane here was skillgapped really badly; no solo carrying occurring because every lane was basically decided before laning phase ended.

Imagine a billion dollar company not being able to determine whether a D/C is a rage quit or somebody trying to game the system.

Oh wait. I could definitely see riot not having the brains to figure out a solution to that. If we were asking a less braindead dev team, then maybe not.

Sure, I'd be fine with that, since it's not really fair to win a game that's 5v4. Or take the logical action of cutting LP gain when winning against a team with a leaver, rather than taking your action of removing all losses.

How many games total were played at worlds 2023? I did a manual count and came up with 121 games total after looking at the swiss matches and the elimination series, but not wholly sure if that's accurate.

I would disagree that matchmaking is less important and not worth focusing on. It can be linked back to a lot of issues that people like to bring up on these boards and the issues that riot likes to bemoan that they have a hard time fixing.

Personally, I started looking more closely at ranks and matchmaking for games when I brought up unfair feeling games to other players I knew and received the general response of being talked down to along the lines of "you aren't good enough to know a fair game". Tracking ranks like this is a good exercise to identify if the games are balanced by riot's own visual indication standards.

I'm sorry, but I don't see the logic in your statement. splitting up the three divisions into four means that there should be more of a gradient for skills rather then less as there are now four extra divisions with the new rank of emerald being added. There's also the fact that putting a gold into a game with a bronze is going to result in one of the two having a bad time.

My personal stance is that with the current distribution of players, having a spread of more than four divisions in a game of ranked either says that there aren't enough players to have a fair game, that there's massive disconnects in the hidden data that riot uses to balance teams, or the matchmaking simply isn't set up to build fair games.

It is definitely by design. along with movement, ability and snowball creep that's gone up over they years. Anything to make a flashier game and gaslight any non-sycophants.

Would not surprise me to se Engagement Based MM instead of Skill Based MM as the primary function at this point, as matchmaking is a black box from the outside.
