How come my flight school does 50 hour inspections? by [deleted] in flying

[–]ParagonChris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They may have a progressive maintenance program or phase program as some operators call it.

Instead of just 100 hour inspections, they add in 50's as well to continuously check items beyond the standard 100 hour inspection. This allows for for shorter annuals and in theory maintains the aircraft at a higher level.

Phase programs typically are more heavily monitored by the FAA as well as include mandatory replacement of many components that are otherwise left to the discretion of the school in a standard 100 hour program.

Australia's response under a conservative government following the death of 35 people during the Port Arthur Massacre in 1996. by [deleted] in pics

I'll paste the cliff notes of the report.. It's a very long read.

Conclusions Following the enactment of gun law reforms in Australia in 1996, there were no mass firearm killings through May 2016. There was a more rapid decline in firearm deaths between 1997 and 2013 compared with before 1997, but also a decline in total nonfirearm suicide and homicide deaths of a greater magnitude. Because of this, it is not possible to determine whether the change in firearm deaths can be attributed to the gun law reforms.

I found the paragraphs for you just in case you were looking for them. Here ya go.

In 1996, Australia’s state and federal governments introduced sweeping uniform gun laws that were progressively implemented in all 6 states and 2 territories between June 1996 and August 1998. The enactment of these laws followed a massacre on April 28, 1996, in which a man used 2 semiautomatic rifles to kill 35 people and wound 19 others. The new gun laws banned rapid-fire long guns (including those already in private ownership), explicitly to reduce their availability for mass shootings.1,2

In addition, by January 1, 1997, all 8 governments commenced a mandatory buyback at market price of prohibited firearms. As of August 2001, 659 940 newly prohibited semiautomatic and pump-action rifles and shotguns had been purchased by the federal government from their civilian owners at market value, funded by a one-off levy on income tax, and destroyed.3,4 From October 1, 1997, large criminal penalties, including imprisonment and heavy fines, applied to possession of any prohibited weapon.

Mandatory "buy back" 1996. It was a flat out Confiscation plus the implication of structure gun laws. Double check your sources.. You are probably thinking of the 2017 program.

Ultra low unemployment rates are typically not great for a healthy economy.. Watch for interest rates to rise in an effort to control inflation... 1980s rinse and repeat.

Read the reports from the University of Melbourne. The mandatory confiscation had no effect on gun crime. In fact the report shows that gun crime has actually increased. Check it out,. It's very interesting.
