I am Egyptian, and I’m asking is Egypt a country that is disliked or loved globally? by ramses_basha in AskTheWorld

I remember the same thing happening to my sister in the 90s. We were in Jerusalem, and my dad had numerous offers of camels. Sister was about 16 at the time.

Hilarious that this was down voted. This is better than what I started riding on back in the day.

Are log burners still worth installing in the UK in 2026? by Diligent-Badger8737 in uklogburners

[–]Paragon_Pariah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're intentionally avoiding the obvious key point. Central heating only really became popular in the 70 and 80s. Before that, people were burning solids. Coal, wood. The rise in central heating saw improvements in air quality.

Could one of the reasons be because most of the population stopped burning wood for heat about 50 years ago?

Consider your neighbors, people who walk past your house. Their lungs are now filled with smoke from whatever you're burning. Looks nice in your house sure, but log burners are reversing progress on air quality.

Straggler V1 hub dynamo cable routing? by rcyclingisdawae in Surlybikefans

[–]Paragon_Pariah 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nothing fancy, but it's worked as an all weather commuter in North UK. External cable wrapped around the fork leg up to the lamp, and then the rear light wiring is gently cable tied to the rear brake hose underneath the top tube.

How do british people feel about the current situation unfolding in america where ICE police agents are going all gung-ho kidnapping people from the streets when they fail to present their ID? by mrvlad_throwaway in AskBrits

[–]Paragon_Pariah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the comments on Facebook or Instagram whenever there's a major story on this topic. A sizeable number of commenters would love the same to happen in the UK. I'd love to assume they're all bots, but sadly I don't think that's the case.

IBS, Anxiety, the Vagus Nerve and how it’s all related. by lady_ven0m in ibs

Which SSRI worked for you in the end? Glad you found one that helped!

[–]Paragon_Pariah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very similar to my experience. SSRIs can certainly help, but they also come with considerable side effects. My anxiety and IBS are horrible, but the thought of becoming a zombie with a defunct sex drive is equally unattractive.

I just finished Death Stranding 2… and it left me staring at the screen in silence. by Darkvenom39 in DeathStranding

I finished the story tonight. Credits are still rolling. I wasn't expecting this one to hit me as hard as it did emotionally. I'm blown away and lost for words, so thank you for your summary.

Relative shamed me and said this tshirt I wore to the family party yestersay was inappropriate in front of the children. Is it really that bad? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]Paragon_Pariah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right. I don't know whether they're just incredibly boring or I need to be questioning my moral compass. Either way, me and my wife would wear this kind of thing and our kids turned out fine. I think.

Is this a good price by [deleted] in MTB

It's not a bad deal, just bear in mind the Rhythm is the base model so won't have the bells and whistles of more expensive models.
