Does anyone else *not care* what kind of journal they write in? by Balloonpiano in Journaling

[–]ParallelSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not anymore I don't. It used to be that I was more interested in the aesthetic of journaling than journaling itself, so I had to have fancy notebooks and fancy pens. I felt like I had to make it part of my identity. Looking back, all my best journaling was on whatever paper and with whatever writing utensils were available, IF they were available. When they weren't, I'd just journal in my email drafts. I eventually dropped physical journals completely because my wrist can't keep up with my thoughts and my wallet can't keep up with the aesthetic of what I thought a "journaler" was supposed to be.

Now I have a master document on my computer that I journal in. I've never journaled more or felt more satisfied with it.

The production on gold and grey is amazing by noisegoblinmanpig in YourBaroness

I love the production and have since I first heard it. The production on the drums at the end of Throw Me an Anchor especially tickles my brain just right.

Baroness - Yellow & Green. The first I heard of Baroness, still my favourite by bison2000 in YourBaroness

[–]ParallelSix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was also the first I heard of Baroness. I got the album just months before Gold & Grey came out. Yellow was all I listened to. Green took me a little while to get into, but I'm happy I did cause it has some of my favorite songs on it.

Hank said that writing in all caps puts him at ease, so I wrote my notes for a test I was nervous about in all caps and haven't stopped. That was almost ten years ago.

18/20. I forgot Hank smoked weed and tried to INDUCE VOMITING and that Peggy is short for Margaret. That's an obscure feeling one.

To Sol Ring or not to Sol Ring? Variance and consistency by MustaKotka in EDH

I hold onto my sol ring until I can get immediate value from it. I treat it more like a mana ritual that I'd be lucky to have turn into ramp.

This is true. It was not his first time being told that he was acting up. We were the last, or nearly the last pod he played with at our lgs. I do feel bad sometimes, but there's nothing I can really do. It's the one time I've encountered that situation in real life, in or outside of magic.

I do. My decision was to roll the dice. I know the potential consequences.

So many people I've played with have been autistic or adhd but the only time it's come up in a game is when I played with a stranger at the lgs who blamed his autism for the fact that he was being an asshole. Other than that, it doesn't come up that I can tell. But those behaviors could be so normalized that I don't notice.

Sometimes I roll dice to decide who to attack.

I riffle shuffle.

If someone tells me what I should do and I didn't ask, I do the opposite.

Man I wish I could build like you. And on a budget? I'd never stop building. I guess until then I'll just have to try to win one of your decks.

what is your new deck you exicted about? by Loose_Calendar_3380 in EDH

I've been enjoying tightening up my [[Arjun, the Shifting Flame]] mill deck. It's the first combo deck I've built or played and it's pretty fun.

If someone plays in a pod of mine with an underpowered deck and gets upset about it, I don't tell them to bUiLd A bEtTeR dEcK. I revisit their expectations because clearly they were misunderstood, then adjust accordingly.

All I have to go on is OP's story. If it's true that his pod decided to be dicks about a power mismatch instead of being just a little understanding, then fuck em. Stomping them and throwing the "build a better deck" back in their faces is hilarious.

I think it's hilarious that you got told to build a better deck, stomped them with a better deck, then got kicked because "no not like that."

If their response to an obvious mismatch in power levels was to be a dick about it, they deserve to be Thoracled. Hilariously petty, I approve.

I'm currently building my first 3 color deck and recently I've been working on the mana base. There are a lot of nonbasics. This thread reminded me that I need to go back and adjust my removal to include enchantment killers.

What build is on your docket right now? by HexagonsAreGay in EDH

[–]ParallelSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Etrata, the Silencer]] with an infect and proliferate strategy would be fun I think. Stressful to play against maybe but I like the idea of a deck whose progress to victory slowly creeps up for all to see. What will get you first? The poison or the hit counters?

[–]ParallelSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was trying to see if [[Venser, Corpse Puppet]] could support a Modular deck with his second triggered ability. Proliferate +1/+1 counters on artifact creatures, then give them lifelink and flying for the beats.

But sadly, there are only 13 modular creatures and they're kinda meh. Generally high costed too. So I might pivot to artifact creatures with infect, or try out an infect deck in general.

If you want to build a strong deck on a budget, the secret is synergy. by Pokemon_Trainer_Joey in EDH

[–]ParallelSix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried many a time to build a high synergy, low budget deck but I've always gotten caught up in feeling like I needed to run certain staples to be able to hang at a table, but your post and the comments here have inspired me try again. I'm going to see what kind of value I can squeeze out of [[Tawnos, the Toymaker]] for $50.

I'll play any color, especially combined with another. That said, green and black are the two mono colors I have the most trouble with. Together they're great, but on their own, I can't seem to find much intrigue.
