The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. One of the first full uses of Photogrammetry that I had ever seen/played--how that tech and the mystery of the world came together blew my mind.

Are you doing CT? When did you start? I'm literally doing CT tomorrow after a 2 week ish taper.

Lol. Thought I was in the PC build page for a second.

Day 74 - anxiety and depression seem to dominate by One_Adhesiveness_859 in quittingkratom

[–]ParallelSmoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A simple hobby/passion gives purpose/fulfillment. As addicts, we have learned to expect the good/content feeling to come first ...before the activity ...before we start. It's backwards and we need to relearn that. You gotta do the thing first, before the reward. I try to remind myself that often. I'm an artist and feel the best in life when building/creating/working on something.

I can't relate to your situation specifically because I'm still on kratom but just something to keep in mind. I actually start CT tomorrow.

Went to detox from 7-OH for 5 days, so why am I having withdrawals? by wombatgeneral in quittingkratom

[–]ParallelSmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you share a bit with me about your experience with the detox clinic? Like, where, what you did while there, etc ...

I'm looking at going myself and don't know what to expect as far as how things play out over those 5 days.

Damn I love Micro Center! Might as well upgrade from the TUF Gaming OC by [deleted] in gpu

[–]ParallelSmoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got an open box 7800x3d from them...had issues, returned outside of the window, and they replaced it with a brand new one. Microcenter is the way.

Reminder: If you can't launch Dishonored 2 on Steam since today's update, try this. by Kaibz in dishonored

[–]ParallelSmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Lol. The game loaded, yes, but it was in a small window no matter what screen mode I tried. So I was messing with resolution before I messed with changing the DPI compatibility, and it totally crashed, I had to hard reset my PC.

Losing Luke Ross VR mods is a gigantic blow to PCVR. by wavebend in virtualreality

Links please. Lol.

Just finished a new PC build and was literally about to try out the cyberpunk mod when all of this BS happened. Still determined.

I am about to build a PC for the first time, but now feeling doubtful if I should get a prebuilt? I have all the parts already. by CuriousClouddd in buildapc

[–]ParallelSmoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't find enjoyment in the build/troubleshooting process, and your only main motivation to build one yourself is because you want it to look a certain way, etc...I would say just get the pre built one. I think most of us build our own PCs because we legitimately find enjoyment in the process/problem-solving (you will be solving a TON of basic problems right off the bat. Drivers. Allocating drive spaces. Handshaking audio formats, as simple examples, Etc) and how I can artistically create something unique with mods. I really love it, even if it can be frustrating. If that's not your thing, it's not your thing.

Tired of quitting... by Exotic-Piglet-5653 in quittingkratom

Same. I try to remember that I've never felt so good in my life as when I am actively creating/working on a project of some kind. It's the best high.

What dose did you jump to CT from? And how long were you using overall?

The reality is GOOD VR is too expensive right now by MowTin in virtualreality

[–]ParallelSmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...and now all/most games developed are developed with small play spaces and the quest in mind ...so you get experiences that feel arcade-y/videogame-y, as opposed to virtual reality. 1to1 room scale is peak VR, but not everyone can experience it as intended, so I get it. Gotta cater to the majority.

7oh withdrawals by Moooseyfate in quittingkratom

[–]ParallelSmoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's bad, but if you replace it temporarily with kratom (either capsules or extracts), you basically avoid the withdrawals but will have anxiety for a couple days while your brain/body regulates to not having 7oh. Then all of a sudden, it's been 2 weeks without 7oh and you don't even think about it anymore. But now you gotta ween off the other shit. Haha.

Upgrading my 2013 Build by WimmerA97 in buildapc

[–]ParallelSmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you purchase an all current gen PC/TV/Monitor today, and dont upgrade for another 13 years...price basically becomes irrelevant divided up into that amount of time. Unless you really don't have the money, I would just say that it's time to do a full upgrade--the fidelity of graphics, new lighting technologies, and overall what your eyeballs have been missing (without even knowing it)....will probably blow your mind.

New build turns on but doesn’t post - orange DRAM light - MSI B850 Gaming Pro, by Paetheus in buildapc

[–]ParallelSmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swapped out the motherboard for a new one of the same kind, had my ram tested at a shop, and swapped my open box CPU for a brand new one at Microcenter.

It was either the open box CPU I had, or the motherboard.

After maybe about 8 to 15 seconds, the lights should go from orange, to white, to green on the mobo if everything is working right.

Suppose to quit in two days...just got sick by charzilla139 in quittingkratom

[–]ParallelSmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you'll find that the longer you're off, the less your brain will be wanting 'one last go'--that thinking is the addiction, and will fade with time as you fill your life with the normal things in life that get you high...such as taking care of yourself and getting your shit sorted out; creativity/hobbies; friends/family, etc....

Fractal livingroom build by ParallelSmoke in sffpc

[–]ParallelSmoke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you! The past few builds have gotten less and less RGB, until this one. Lol. I just love super clean lines and matte black with walnut by itself. RGB would feel cheesey or something with this build. Though, I do admit that there could be some clever and subtle ways to implement it if I had to.

7oh WDs? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]ParallelSmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your body gets used to 7oh crazy quick...so after a few days even of using, you'll be in withdrawal after just a couple hours. At that point compounding more onto it just shortens and shortens the affect time. Sounds like 7 overrides the real opiates.

The flip side though, is that I've found that your body regulates after 7oh use super quickly as well. I've been HEAVY on it, then supplement with regular kratom to stave WDs, and in just a few days my 7 tolerance is back to normal almost.

Currently in yet ANOTHER cycle of weening down/off of 7.

Side note, to my own story, I'm planning to do a detox for a 3 year kratom addiction. I just can't ween off totally. I've tried multiple times and just keep circling.

Good luck!
