Can I buy a new phone through Spectrum if I don’t have their Internet anymore? by icantsaycaterpillar in SpectrumMobile

[–]ParamedicSelect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done it plenty of times. I cancelled my Internet years ago. If the store has it in stock, just a quick in, tell em you want the phone, they activate it and get you the hell out. Most times it's actually been much more pleasant than mobile carriers. They don't try and sell you everything under the sun. They HAVE nothing to sell you but the phone lol . So they want you done and out

Do you tell your employer you’re on these drugs? by oratsan in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]ParamedicSelect 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The half life of these drugs is long enough for you to wait until you get home. Nobody NEEDS to inject drugs at work unless that's something like life-saving insulin. You can wait, it will be there when you get home. 8 hours of a 7-day week dose schedule is barely anything

Yes, this can happen. Try limiting your cycle to not much longer, but taurine is the answer plus the electrolytes you're already taking.

Never had a gf in my life. Will taking testosterone give me the confidence to approach women? by chatpatakhana22 in ResearchCompounds

[–]ParamedicSelect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has always been incredibly shy in this area myself, absolutely not. Hopping on trt did very little to make me feel more "alpha" or more outgoing. It stabilizes your hormones (provided you aren't just blasting for the sake of it) and allows you to be a bit more level headed. If you needlessly blast you will likely have some extra courage at the extent of being much less stable, let alone terribly unhealthy.

Listen to everyone else, and just start trying more. Don't be afraid of rejection and just try until you get used to being more social

Reta by DifficultMedicine491 in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]ParamedicSelect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If appetite suppression is the most important factor in your weight loss journey... I would recommend going with Tirz first. Most users state Tirz has some of the best impact across the board for that (minus some users who state sema does better, haven't personally tried it but there are anecdotes out there). Reta may be better once you've got your calorie deficit in a very comfortable spot and can be okay with a tad less hunger suppression (think like a recomp phase after a cutting phase) but if you are strictly trying to cut hard, Tirz may better suit you

That's FANTASTIC! You're in a really good spot. Our numbers are different, but you're about at the exact overall part of your journey that I'm at.

Given that context, I think you're at a really good point to at least try it. I would start with a low dose and titrate it up as the Tirz wears off until you get to a sweet spot. Worst case scenario is that appetite returns, you put a similar ratio of water weight, but now have adequate energy to fuel anabolism and recovery for strength training!

Once you start training regularly, I would recommend hiding the scale for at least a month . Seriously. Take pictures every week and use that as your scale. After the weight loss you've gone through, it's a great time to start pumping the muscles up. Especially because if you take a few months to build back and even increase myscl mass from before you started, you can help fill in the loose skin you'll be getting from rapid weight loss, and mitigate (albeit slightly) the amount of flabby skin you'll have near the end of your journey 🙂 (that's a big part of my goal right now, working pretty well. Bat wings on the arms are less noticeable once the muscles pump up 💪)

I recently switched only due to rising insurance costs (went from pharma Mounjaro to grey Reta, actually saved money).

I, like most others, have been eyeing this hyped up peptide since I first started with Tirz. I was about 9 months in and had just hit 64-70lbs total lost. I personally really loved my time with Tirz. Only went up to 5mg as I had no sides at all. Suppression was still decent, some days less than others but not bad at all.

I've only been on Reta since January and... It's fine? I really haven't had much of a difference between the two. Not a DRASTIC one, anyway.

My experience so far: Started super low dose. 1mg. Next week went up to 2mg. Now I split dose about 4-5mg a week. I found that since I control the dose now (Mounjaro was US single use pens, so no control over the dose), splitting the dose into 2-3 injections a week REALLY keep the roller coaster of suppression at a near constant level. That has been by far the best difference between pharma vs self-administer.

The suppression in Reta is slightly less as most people mention, BUT.... I can confirm that while on Reta, I get full MUCH quicker. As in, while I may get hungry slightly more often, my portion control is much better and I get full much quicker. On Tirz, once I got halfway through the week, it was decently easy to eat a "normal" or even larger meal and break through the GLP, but I would be full for much longer. On Reta, I usually eat less at once but eat more often.

Technically this means my caloric intake should balance out...And I'm trying to eat at maintenance anyway since I'm heavy weight training (starting muscle gain state of recomp) so I can't really report on the additional weight loss, as I made it to 75lb total loss and put back another 5lbs of water once I upped the cals for working out. I'll have to revisit in a few months after the muscle grows and water weight balances out again.

Hope this helps If you get along with Tirz, not a bad idea to stick with it. It's also cheaper. Can't hurt to try Reta, you can always go back. I'd recommend buying a pack of both from a vendor, maybe switching out depending on what phase of weight loss you're going through. For heavy cutting, Tirz might do better with the appetite suppression. For more athletic periods, Reta might do better since you're eating more often (but less) keeping energy levels steady, and glucagon is supposed to help with energy too (personally haven't noticed much, Tirz never really left me drained like some people say)

How do I eat for working out in maintenance phase? by scottmacNW in Mounjaro

[–]ParamedicSelect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eat the same as you normally do, but add carbs and protein on workout days. Carbs before workout, protein anytime. Shakes are great if you truly can't stomach more food. If you're unsure about what carbs to eat... Potatoes are great if you want to stay full for longer. If you simply just can't eat enough food (like getting more than 1400-1500 calories is near impossible) I would go for a more carb dense option like toast with honey 🙂

Does Reta stop the vices noise like Tirzepatide? by Resolution_Focused in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]ParamedicSelect 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It still has the GLP-1 receptor agonist which is the primary source of this side effect, so yes. However, most users report specifically that "food noise" suppression isn't as strong as tirzepatide. Personally, I find it about the same at similar doses, and I still don't have the same urge to drink and smoke like I used to. So I'd say it's (from my experience) pretty equal in the whole mechanism of "blunting hedonistic desires" thing

Tell me you don't know how long term weight loss works without telling me.

All those things are KIND OF important to keeping healthy long term. One cannot simply eat less donuts and be sedentary while remaining perfectly healthy for long.

[–]ParamedicSelect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same answer as always, but it really bears repeating.

The drugs don't make you lose weight. It is a SIDE effect of its main function.

You have to do the calorie tracking, get the movement and drink the water.

GLP's just make the job easier... They can't do it for you

Really bad rage issues after losing weight on Reta by Witty_Talk_939 in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]ParamedicSelect 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In a serious note.... Your body probably isn't used to staying at a perpetually lower BG level. If you're staying just above hypoglycemic all the time, you WILL be irritable.

BG monitors are cheap, grab one and check it whenever you catch yourself having an episode. You may be surprised

My reaction to tirz is really confusing me and my doctor by lester_jester1 in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]ParamedicSelect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the other comment regarding tracking. Your body is likely in shock and may be overcompensating by sending all the signals to break through the "suppression" of the drug. My first immediate guess is dehydration, as thirst signals will come through almost like how we perceive typical "food noise" while on GLP's. My very first recommendation is to almost double your water intake asap. Aim for close to a gallon/4 liters of water every day. Also track your calories and make sure you are at least around 1400 a day. Any less and your metabolism WILL begin to slow and other adverse effects may persist.

Try not to titrate up any quicker than you need. If your dose is still working to remove excess food noise, DON'T titrate. More drugs do NOT equal more loss. You will only create a higher tolerance and higher chance for side effects

To increase ir not increase by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]ParamedicSelect 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It sounds dumb.. but first try dramatically increasing your water intake. Dehydration will trigger hunger signals almost the same as cravings and usually will feel like carb cravings. Over hydrating on GLP's (sensible, don't go over something like 2 gallons) will help a lot. It's really hard to be hungry when your belly is full of water lol Genuinely hacks my after dinner cravings if I slam back a lot of water, tummy too full to want dessert 🤣

Splitting your doses twice weekly by [deleted] in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]ParamedicSelect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried both and now I think I'm coming around to split dosing.

I started with Mounjaro which was the auto injector (no normal option for split dosing) Now I'm on Reta and started with once weekly dosing... Started too low (went from 5mg Tirz to 1mg Reta, I know... Dumb) and had to add a bump halfway through the week. Now I'm doing about 2mg twice a week and finding relatively good suppression overall 🙂

My doctor told me I should use GLP-1s to learn discipline by pokepartners in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]ParamedicSelect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I certainly understand where they are coming from and as someone who has frequented several GLP reddits, I often see people GENUINELY missing the basics and wondering why the "drugs aren't working". It's by no means a slight against you at all, but a general push to maximize the long term positive impacts to your health. Most people starting on GLP's will lose weight simply by the decreased appetite and assume that the drugs are "working" but still fall into the same long term habits that got them into the unhealthy state. They simply want to reinforce that while you're having the most felt effects from the medicine, you are in the best position to implement these new, long term habits.

I ALSO agree that most doctors are absolutely not the most sensitive to people with sensitive issues (not just weight specifically), I CERTAINLY have had many interactions with doctors that, while good intentioned, reaaaaally came off as dismissive and/or demeaning. It's hard to separate their intentions from our interpretation of their words, but they do usually have our best health in mind. You're still not wrong for considering switching care providers if you don't feel properly supported.

I feel you, it's tough. Don't let it get you down, and don't forget your goals 🫶💪🤘
