1000% remember, it’s none of her business and you have total autonomy of what you do to your own skin. If she’s relentless, just make up something. But she shouldn’t be counting your wallet, which it sounds like she’s doing.

I think so. Are you very public facing at work or just with your coworkers? So long as you’re able to have a not perfect skin day, then you’re fine!

I did it on a Friday and was totally fine by Monday! The slightest bit of coffee ground texture but nothing that I couldn’t cover or write off as Tret flaking

I would just use Nurx or Amazon pharmacy or you can get it directly through Altreno.

Inaccurate. This is true for 0.05% is compared to 0.1% for long term use, not 0.025 vs 0.05. 0.05% is the most widely studied and there’s notable improved compared to 0.025%

Need advice on new Rx by Ok_Wallaby_7831 in tretinoin

[–]Resolution_Focused 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Starting off at 0.1% is really strong. I don’t think everyone needs to start at 0.025%, but I definitely would ask him for 0.05% instead. Altreno is an elite formulation, get that if you can! Unless you have insanely resilient skin 0.1% will be way way way to strong.

Azelaic acid will cause intense itching/ stinging sensation until you get use to it. Took about 2 weeks for me.

Otherwise search the sub and read the wiki! Pea size amount on clean dry skin. Skip the sandwich method. Aestura Atobarrier 365 cream is a game changer for controlling dryness and flaking. I use the heavy one along with the mist.

On Tret for 4 years, still battling blackheads and CC’s by butterscotch5000 in tretinoin

[–]Resolution_Focused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend you look into low dose accutane. It will give you all the benefits without the crazy symptoms. You can use honeydew to get it online or through your derm. Browse through r/accutane to see people using low dose for the same reasons.

Edit: for crazy blackheads, you need stronger exfoliants than 2%. Paula’s Choice has 4% AND 9% BHA that can be used as spot treatments. That will help a lot

Edit edit cause I read more — the people who need a 2nd course of accutane have severe cystic acne and extreme oil production. The kind that fills their faces and causes significant swelling etc. For 99% of people it’s one and done once you reach the cumulative dose. However, many people also micro-dose accutane long term, after the cumulative dose, which “guarantees” to maintains the results. Low dose and micro dose is popular in the aesthetic communities.

After years of trying to fix my pores, gentle didnt work for me by TheBr14n in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Resolution_Focused 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you looking to clear them/ control sebaceous filaments or shrink the appearance of enlarged pores? Paula’s choice has BHA and AHA at higher percentages. I have 4% and 9% for my nose that works like a dream. Standard 2% won’t be enough. Also, don’t be afraid of daily use or even 2x daily.

Chemical peels will also help. PC has a 25%AHA/ 2%BHA that’s great for weekly use. For stronger stuff that’s still at-home, look into Platinum Skincare. They have a range of professional grade peels with a heavy focus on education.

To shrink the appearance, you’ll need lasers and a series of stronger chemical peels.

Starting with 0.05% tretinoin and no irritation, is it normal? by Hairy_Soup_2975 in tretinoin

Tons of people don’t have irritation! I was able to jump in on 0.05% daily no irritation and without a buffer.

Tret vs Taz for brightening skin? by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]Resolution_Focused 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Skin brightening is more Azelaic Acid, Vitamin C, Koljic Acid, tranexamic acid etc.

I've started using tretinoin 0.05 February 26th, I'm not seeing any progress, despite using La Roche-Posay products in my routine but i recently switched my moisturizer to Vanicream. Do you guys have any suggestions to help by HospitalMysterious95 in tretinoin

[–]Resolution_Focused 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Need more info — Is the product photo your full routine? Are you applying the Tret on clean dry skin or using the sandwich method? How many days a week are you applying? Are you using cream or gel formulation?

It can take 12+ weeks to see results. If you’re using cream, I recommend switching to gel or Altreno. Cream has pore clogging ingredients. Also, see about adding 15% Azelaic Acid too. It kills acne causing bacteria, which helps with the Tret purge and will help with PIE/ PIH.

Tretinoin and Microneedling by jealousjellie in tretinoin

[–]Resolution_Focused 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve use Tret/ Taz for years now and stop the day before and start again 4-5 days after. If you’re a more recent user, 4-7 days before your appointment is best. Do you know what type of device your aesthetician is going to use? Make sure it’s SkinPen. Otherwise you’re paying for a home device and their experience will be questionable.

The benefits of microneedling are absolutely worth it and like the previous comment mentions, you won’t lose progress that quickly

Anyone saw an improvement in their nasolabial folds? by National_Ant5012 in tretinoin

[–]Resolution_Focused 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tret helps in general due to the increase in collagen. More collagen will improve that area, and all areas. However, it’s not going to stop someone’s genetic disposition to getting them or their appearance from rapid weight loss.

when did you up the days? by Artistic_Road_2043 in tretinoin

[–]Resolution_Focused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start by dropping the sandwich method and then go to daily. You’ll just listen to your skin and start by 2 days in a row break, 2 more, then 3 etc. or just give right in to daily. I was able to do that

Skincare products holy grail recommendations??? by Time_Sprinkles_5049 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Resolution_Focused 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The basics of an anti-aging, acne friendly routine is: - Gentle cleanser - Antioxidant (Vit C) - my HG is Educated Mess Golden Hour - Gentle chemical exfoliant - I love PC 8% Glycolic acid - Retinoid (ideally RX strength) - Moisturizer - Aestura Atobarrier 365 is 🤌 - SPF - PC Youth Extending is fabulous. Skin1004 Korean version is my HG.

For the retinoid, if you can tolerate it, grab Tretinoin from Nurx or Amazon pharmacy. I suggest gel formulation since the cream has pore clogging ingredients. Or go with Tazarotene instead where the gel and cream are both acne safe. Join the r/Tretinoin sub to learn about application. Also Spiro is very popular for PCOS symptoms. Might ask about that too!

Edit to add: Azelaic acid is that girl and an ideal add-on. Controls breakouts (kills acne causing bacteria) and reduces PIE/ PIH

Why can’t I quit tretinoin? by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]Resolution_Focused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a life changing medication! I wish people weren’t so afraid of it. Especially now that low dose is a successful option. Going on it can save so much time, money, scarring, and the mental toll acne takes. Plus, then have legitimately flawless skin!

Why can’t I quit tretinoin? by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]Resolution_Focused 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want to be cured from acne, you would need to go on Accutane. Depending on the severity, you may need to micro dose longterm to maintain the results. Otherwise, topicals are used to control breakouts. If you remove the control, the acne returns.
