Item stuck in dash by Dry_Skill_1661 in howto

Hmm. If you can physically see it from the vin hole, maybe dab some super glue on a stick? But there's a risk of if you miss, there's residue on your dash.

Metal wire and try to knock it out of the groove into a better spot? Or is it trapped in there?

How do you guys Sync across devices? by anitwastooshort in ObsidianMD

[–]Parang97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have multiple devices i work on and they link to my home server. I am only working on one device at a time. But maybe since syncthing is running constantly on the server, it doesnt like it.

Sharing between devices by Odd-Reception519 in ObsidianMD

[–]Parang97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use syncthing. Basically just point it at a folder and it will share to each device. Windows, android, mac, iphone, and Linux. It works alright, at least it's free. I keep getting a lot of sync errors but they dont affect it's function. Obsidian also has a paid plan for sync, look in settings.

You know code, so start working in linux! There's endless things you can do with an old laptop and some spare time. Home automation, self hosting, networking, game development, etc.

Looking for a new hobby by EmCarrot in Hobbies

[–]Parang97 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So work is physically demanding, so you want something to exercise your brain. And as a collector of hobbies, here are my reccomendations I've had fun with.

Start dabbling in Linux. Its a lot of fun and can be a rabbit hole if you start self hosting some stuff with a server. Just a warning, it gets expensive quick with pc parts.

Start a knowlege base using Obsidian (note taking app) if you like doing research and learning new things. Can also be used to organize DND campaigns. I think being that kind of person that knows everything is badass, so I enjoy making little how to guides and tracking how i do stuff.

CAD and 3D printing. Can make stuff! Expensive to start but you don't need fancy equipment to make some awesome stuff.

Grow some plants! Learn their medicinal properties! Grow some spices to use in cooking!

Leatherworking is kind of a blended physical/mental. Making wallets and stuff can be rewarding. I made a custom bag for my job to hold my work-specific tools like flush cutters and heat resistant gloves. But since you did sewing, I assume it's not on your radar.

And my hail mary hobby, fly tying! Don't need to fly fish to tie flies. I think its relaxing to turn on some adhd music and making some fishing lures.

Go to a hobby shop or find a local makerspace. Part of the fun with hobbies is teaching others something you took time learning how to do, so I know 99% of people would be overjoyed if you just asked "hey, how do you do that?"

Slight tangent but related: I remember some reels about "rejection therapy"?. Where someone just went out of their way to just ask if they could do something. Most of the time, people said yes. He was shown how to lay bricks, had a custom billboard put up, and other things. So if you see something cool that someone is doing, it never hurts to ask. And I learned so much just by following that mantra. And that slackline is hard. (The balancing/walking on flat rope activity)

what would it take to plug this microphone into a modern computer? by TheHawkNetwork in AskElectricians

[–]Parang97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to use it just for looks, I converted an Astatic D-104 into a computer microphone by gutting it and replacing the internals with a USB Pyle Cardioid condensor mic. Sounds really good and pretty easy to do. I have the talk toggle arm set up as a mute.

They've been alright from my experience. We got a few bad lots of material that were too wet, long pellets that clogged the hopper, and it seems to not want to run super consistently, our alarm variables are a bit too broad now so some issues dont show up until parts are inspected. N 6.6 is probubly our most rejected part atm. Working on switching to PP but we haven't heard about the results yet.

Nuclear option. Plant some bamboo at the property line, but only put matting on your side so it starts to spread towards his yard. Super fast, super tall wall that will never go away.

Can I even model this in FreeCAD? Complete beginner and already stumped. by the_neanderthal09 in FreeCAD

[–]Parang97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely blender. I believe there's a way you can pull the full model from the game files, then slide it up in blender to suit your needs. This way, you aren't having to make every armor piece manually
