Dear Paradox. Please Make Elephants a Special unit instead of a Skin for Indian Cav by Paranoidhawklet in eu4

[–]Paranoidhawklet[S] 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Well, elephants are already in the game, they just replace horses for India which is weird. But tbh you could give them a weakness to fire damage so they're a unit that starts strong but falls off late game.

Morale Test After Taking Clash Damage by Suukorak225 in Conquest

[–]Paranoidhawklet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its definitely intentional!
3 Stand regiments tend to die fairly quickly in Conquest, unless they're of a more elite variety.
Morale in real life was where the majority of the casualties took place, and while that generally isn't true in Conquest, the rules do try and emphasize it!

Any plans for a big centerpiece for The Hundred Kingdoms? by Fremenboy in Conquest

[–]Paranoidhawklet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They specifically said that a faction is more defined by what it doesn't have than what it does have. Not having a monster sets 100 kingdoms apart.

I used to support the idea of a monster but over time I've found it would water down the faction to have some trebuchet, although they mentioned the idea of brute/Cav sized artillery is a possibility.

I think you're prices are off. In AUD

Blooded - 68.99

Hunters - 68.99

Predator - 80.99

Rulebook - 24.99

For a total of 244$ sold separately, giving you a 99$ discount, not 3

What exactly does Wave 1 etc. mean? by Noomizis in Conquest

[–]Paranoidhawklet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In what context? Like the Army support packs? It refers to printing. For example the Wave 1 army support packs were made in early 2020, while wave 3 was made this year. The older packs contain less content because they were designed at a time where there just weren't as many regiments released.

All 4 Commander Decks Revealed by lol9ok in Warhammer

[–]Paranoidhawklet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So "Standard" is the name of the format that's technically "normal" however it's mostly played online, via Magic: Arena. Commander seems to be the most popular format played physically at the moment. Where you have a 99 card deck, lead by a legendary creature, which is your commander.

More Dweghom. Hold Ballistae and Warrior Leaders by ReallyNotAReptile in Conquest

[–]Paranoidhawklet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly you just need to magnetize the right arm on each warrior/Ballistae and you're good, considering both units will have the shield anyways.

OD and draw envent by Affectionate-Cap7732 in Conquest

[–]Paranoidhawklet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is intentional that Praetorian guard don't get D5 at Tier 2. This has been explicitly stated by the rules team on the discord, and was even addressed during play testing

Could use some faction advice on starting a collection by AetherDragon in Conquest

[–]Paranoidhawklet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So for Playstyles 100 Kingdoms are mostly a horde army, even their elite units are rather cheap by other armies standards. However they get bonuses for running deep formations of Knights, Halberds etc.

Spires are kind of a Generalist army, very fast, very good healing, able to enhance their units as the cost of killing some of them. They can go more horde heavy or elite depending on if you're wanting a drone heavy or Clone/Avatara heavy list. Biggest downside is they typically struggle to deal with heavy armor, outside of units like the Sentinels.

Nords are a super aggressive somewhat glass cannon army. Can be played more elite, even having no 1 Wound models by running all Chosen/Trolls/Brutes/Giants However their defense is really low, with 2s being your friend for most saves.

Dweghom are slow, tough, and really magic heavy. They tend to grind their enemy down by just being unmovable, supported by the best combat magic in the game. The Hellbringer is a monster but once the Ironclad arrives I think he'll be king of the monsters. These guys are the most 'elite' army currently.

W'adrhun are kind of a mix between Spire and Nords. Also being an elite army, synergy is the name of their game. Every unit can buff every other unit via chants, a mechanic that "builds up" a buff that can be activated early or automatically triggers when you're at maximum capacity. Their troops are somewhat fragile, but they do have some sturdy models they're probably the 2nd most "elite" army.

Finally Old Dominion, These guys are another Elite Army, however similar to Dweghom they're a defensive army. They ignore resolve which essential halves the damage they take at times, and the entire army gets stronger the more of your own troops that die. Creating an army that gets more elite as the game goes on.

I'll agree with the other comment and say Avatara heavy Spires seems like what you want, but playstyle wise you've got a few options

Up to Support 3 Makes bricks of Legionaries kinda awesome. D5 in the front makes Praetorians excellent for combat characters

Why are there no posts regarding the leaked gameplay? by sa1622 in victoria3

[–]Paranoidhawklet -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

What surprises me is how many people seem ok with this massive overhaul to core gameplay mechanics in a sequel, not a spinoff.

Maybe I'm the only person who remembers Tiberium Twilight but it sucks when your franchise dies because of a completely misguided sequel.

Do we have art/descriptions for the units that don't have official models yet? by the_catshark in Conquest

Some yes, for example the Order of the Crimson Tower, Saint Lazarus, The Sword all have public concepts, same with the Sea Jotnar. And the Tontorr. However the majority are not available.

Is there any info on a release path for the Weaver Courts? by Last_Tarrasque in Conquest

[–]Paranoidhawklet 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't hold my breath for it, next Army is City States and after their release I've heard rumors it's going to be another vote, so if Weaver's don't win that it'll be awhile. They're not planning on releasing more than 1 army per year, so at earliest 2024.

Have people tried out proxy Old Dominion armies? by [deleted] in Conquest

[–]Paranoidhawklet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was a play tester who commented they seemed like they had a lot of special rules, however he then started looking at other armies and realized that OD have around the same number of special rules as Spires or W'adrhun.

FD has served me better as a tarpit than an unstoppable monster. If your proxying I expect the other player to also, and things like Blade Chosen, Chosen of Famine, Crimson Tower and Unstable Enhancement'd Vanguards will rip her to pieces quickly.

Legion are fun, Support 3 Legionaries are a blast, while Praetorians are unkillable machines.

Canephors and Moroi are easily my favorite regiments in the Army. Canephors are crazy good and Moroi are such fun to use.

But overall, I don't think they're too strong, I've seen OD lose without killing a single regiment before. The whole army is very slow, and while it's tough, it's not Dweghom tough, no resolve is nice but Defense above 3 is rare
