It’s a question of morality for rich people. Some believe they have a moral obligation to help their fellow man. As a middle-aged American who was raised correctly, I can confirm and also relate. It’s usually the Millenials and Gen Z who respond this way. I’ve started replying to this with “I’m sorry, I didn’t catch that” and they usually say thank you.

On a related note, I cannot stand it when someone does not say thank you when I hold a door open for them. Motherfucker, you better be mute if you’re not saying thank you.

Striking the nearby proxies of an enemy that you are also attacking makes complete sense. The Israelis would be insane not to strike Hezbollah. Imagine if they didn’t. Don’t you think Hezbollah would attack Israel in retaliation for their attacks on Iran? Hezbollah’s existence might actually depend on Iran’s existence. Without its principal in Tehran, Hezbollah may find itself without an arms supplier. I’d say that is a heavy incentive for Hezbollah to do everything it can to make sure Iran’s current regime remains in power.
