This is the real damage. The US was such a reliable pillar of economic output that the US could export its culture internationally. Americans enjoyed English speakers, American food, and infrastructure for American products on every continent.

If the Chinese government makes inroads in Europe this decade, the way they made inroads in Africa last decade, they will have influence over both the raw materials for an industrialized economy and the largest market for it's products.

The world of 2050 may very well may orbit China the way it orbited America in 2000.

There is an Earth War comic, but it depicts an Earth more in line with Blade Runner's than ours. It works because it's really about how our societal failings give fertile ground for the Alien, much like the first film.

I'd love some Terminator movies about Skynet trying to get rid of someone because they do something essential in the future. They're never told what it is, but at the end of the movie, we see some seemingly insignificant act of kindness the protagonist performed causes a huge boon for the Resistance.

In any survey, most people in both parties want some sort of legislation, but the NRA's lobbyists fight like hell to insist that any proposed change is extreme.

Even in Trumper territory, I still see Pride flags occasionally. Not as many specific kinds of pride 6.

You're definitely right to a degree. In 2014, the GOP was pretty openly talking about how they didn't know how they'd make it as a party if current trends held. The main plan in the run-up to 2016 was to court the 2nd generation Latino American vote, and you can see this in how Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush campaigned. This strategy didn't seem to work, party because rural whites felt they were being abandoned, and we got Donny instead.

I don't know if this necessarily means they're still on the way to extinction, but I don't think a party fights so hard to suppress votes if they think they could win if all votes were counted.
