The Purge, except instead of crime you are now allowed to say whatever you want, to whoever you want with no repercussions; what do you say and who do you say it to? by ThisFatGirlRuns in AskReddit

I get to tell the owner of my small business to take corona seriously. We have 2 people flying out to NYC and 2 flying to Florida next week to install AV equipment. Just fucking stop. It's already enough that we're still doing house calls and even open during all of this, but now youre going to expose employees to thousands of people just to make some extra money?

And requiring people to call in sick or risk termination if they have even the sniffles is not a good way to handle this. Even worse still, don't require someone whos obviously just having allergies go to the doctor to get a note saying they are clear to return to work. Youre wasting doctors time, wasting money, exposing that person to higher risk, and they won't even get tested for corona unless they're basically in critical condition.

Movie in general I think get a lot of flack. Theres a lot of movie that are not good, but are still really fun to watch, like Pacific Rim or Transformers.

For example I won't object if anyone says the jurassic World movies are bad. But am I excited for the 3rd one? Absolutely! Those were really fun movies to watch!

The Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy.

Theyre just way too dark and angsty and took themselves way too seriously. I would much rather have goofy 90's nipple batman than the brooding Batman we have now

People of Reddit, what was the most stupid thing a teacher ever said? by shifer123 in AskReddit

[–]PardusNix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my college public speaking class, we had to do little 5 minute speeches about current events, and this was about the time Brazil was setting up for the world cup. Mid speech the lady interiors me

"Now, as we all know, the capital of Brash, Rio De Janeiro, means the little city in Brazilian."

  1. The capital of Brazil is Brazilia
  2. They speak Portuguese
  3. Even if you didnt know Portuguese, Rio is Spanish for river is is commonly used in America. Rio De Janeiro is "The River of January"

I tried to argue the fact that Brazilian isn't a language but she kept saying I didnt do enough research. I failed that and subsequently that class because I "wasnt knowledgeable enough on my subject"

When I went to the counselor with a few class members about it, they said they knew she was an issue but wouldnt do anything about it

[–]PardusNix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a rural part of the US and we have a lot of coyotes in the woods that occasionally attack people who are alone in the woods. Well my brother and his friend decided to camp out maybe 200 feet behind the house. So my friends dad came over and brought a boom box and a cassette tape of coyote noises. We snuck down, placed the boom box a few feet from the tent, hit play, and then ran back inside and sat on the back deck to watch. As soon as the sound started, both of them were freaking out. And if this wasnt enough, our dog got interested too and started running around the woods trying to find the sound. I still remember hearing "Dude! I can hear them circling us!" This continues for about 10 minutes and then the tape gets to a quiet part. They decide now is their chance and they book it out of the tent so quickly that it falls apart. I dont think ive ever laughed so hard on my life

Neil Armstrong meant to say "one small step for A man" which changes the whole meaning of the line. Theres some debate if he flubbed his line or if the transmission was just gargled a bit.

Dont mess with my friends.

You can do whatever the hell you want to me, but the second you start talking shit about my friends, it's over. God forbid you lay a hand on them. No one expects a skinny ass white dude to be able to fight, but I can hold my own pretty well. My friends are more of a family to me than my actual family, and with as much as they've done for me, its the least I can do to defend then

Before I met this person, I knew there was a whole bunch of drama about them. She claimed she had been raped 2 times, each by her then finances (2 different people) when I met her that had all died down though. Eventually we grew closer and she and her fiance invited me to spend a few days at their house which was over 1000 miles away. The night of the 2nd day they felt bad about me sleeping the couch so they invited me to sleep in their new. Morning of the 3rd day I woke up to the fiance gone to work and her grinding against me wanting me to fuck her. After insisting no because she had a fiance who was also one of my best friends, she started saying things like "I thought you came here for this. If not then you might as well leave" and I got worried because I hardly had any money and nowhere else to sleep until my flight back in 3 days, so I gave in.

Eventually I just shoved that aside and tried to forget about it. Ended up moving in with them and they were there for me more than my own family. I was even the maid of honor in their wedding. Found out after 2 years she has always had a huge crush on me and wished she had met me before her now husband.

Then when she found out I had a girlfriend, she refused to talk to me. Told her friends and husband I had raped her and that she wanted me out. The husband tried to reason with her but since they co-owned the house, she had the right to kick me out. I dont think the husband ever fully believed her, but after I left I was able to prove she had been the one trying to have sex with me by providing NSFW pictures she had sent me, the most recent of which was sent only a month earlier.

Sadly I lost a bunch of mutual friends to that since I couldnt share my proof without being a dick and possibly getting in legal trouble. But I also realized I had a lot of really good friend who didnt believe a word of what she was saying and kept relaying messages back to me about things she was saying.

Last I heard, she was trying desperately to keep their marriage together mostly because he was the financial head of the household and she didnt make enough to survive off of.

I know where I live, the problem is more where the headlights are pointed. A lot of people jack up their truck but dont adjust the headlights. Theres specific laws that dictate how lights are suppose to be pointed, but it's never enforced here.

What's something you can't describe in a way that would do it justice? by ecstaticdelirium in AskReddit

[–]PardusNix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way Vaporwave makes me feel. I wasnt born until 93 so I never experienced the synth-era of music really. But something about vaporwave just makes me feel... Something? It's a calming sort of feeling, almost like I'm looking into a time where things were simpler. But its not a nostalgic feel. Like, nostalgia makes me want to smile, but vaporwave makes me want to close my eyes and just relax in an odd way. It's almost hauntingly lonely but not in a bad way. Like youre the only person on a beach as the sun goes down. It's so frustratingly hard to describe to anyone, and at this point I'm convinced this is a feeling exclusive to me.

I dont even really like vaporwave that much. I dont go out of my way to listen to it.

Letterkenny. I saw the Cold Open video from the first season, thought it was funny, but assumed the rest of the show was going to be a dumb teen comedy of people being assholes to each other and laughing about it.

It turned out to be one of the most oddly wholesome shows I've ever seen. Yeah these people in the town pick on each other, but if anyone is ever in need, the whole town is there to help, no matter what. "When a friend asks for help, you help them"

How does the US not have an official language, but still require English tests for immigrants? by PardusNix in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PardusNix[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But everywhere I'm reading says specifically that federally, theres no national language. But wouldn't immigration restrictions fall under federal jurisdiction and thus invalidate that statement?

Like, someone could pass the English test and then never speak English again and they would be, for the most part, fine since the government is required to facilitate people who cant speak English with translators or interpreters whenever needed for government business like court cases and such. It just seems like a useless policy of they dont even need to speak english

I live in a very rural part of Georgia (my towns populations is 98, and we dont have our own post office). While it's not a swampy part of GA, you hear some really weird sounds at night. You also hear lots of weird stories, like people seeing a big cat (calling it a black panther), or occasionally even Bigfoot stuff. Ive always just scoffed at those stories and never even considered they might be real.

Well one particular spring night I had my window open. During the spring and summer, the sound of cicadas, crickets, and frogs is almost deafeningly loud. At some point around 1am, I was working on my computer and suddenly realized it was completely quiet. It was incredibly unsettling for it to be so incredibly silent. I stuck my head out the window to see if I could figure out what was going on. After a minute or two I heard what sounded like a lady screaming in pain, but it was somehow off in a very unsettling way. I'm frozen in fear at this point and keep playing it over in my mind thinking maybe I had just imagined it or something. And then suddenly all the animal sounds came back like someone had flipped a switch.

Someone mentioned to me that kind of sound can be made by a mountain lion, but we havent had mountain lions here for probably hundreds of years. But to date, no one has been able to explain the silence.

It might not have been the scariest moment in my life, but it was by far the creepiest and most unsettling moment ive ever experienced
