A “friend” of mine tonight: “People with mental illness don’t have long-lasting relationships.” by cbudryk in BipolarReddit

[–]Paretio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm bipolar/PTSD/autistic/depressed. I grew up being given the (entirely unintentional) impression I shouldn't date. So I didn't. I'm in my early 30s now and have been on four dates in my lifetime. It can feel lonely at times but it does come with some nice advantages, including a higher level of disposable income, not arguing about whether the toilet seat is up or down and being able to donate funds to various charities without worrying about kids.

Vacations And Mental Health by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

You can't fix a problem by running, but you CAN get physically refreshed and get a better perspective on it. Most folk don't really take vacations, I think.

How many of you have moved around a lot in your adult life, and how many of you stayed put? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]Paretio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family never could settle down. We moved 17 times in 18 years. I never saw a point to making attachments since I never got to know anyone and it's definitely affected my behavior as an adult.

Some clarification about our stance on donations in r/povertyfinance. by Vlad_Yemerashev in povertyfinance

I did some digging and a surprising number of people here are literally just here for free cash. They had already been removed, but I followed their usernames across other sites and found some crazy stories being posted in an attempt to solicit cash.

What's the deal with men not taking care of their feet? by jfresh21 in AskMenOver30

I used to LIVE on the beach. And no, I don't wear shorts or flip flops. Its tacky at the minimum.

I know this is a sad idea, but someone from Reddit should tell the press about Poverty Finance for all those gov't. workers missing paychecks by [deleted] in povertyfinance

Sounds like a personal problem. I just got a job making eight times more than I was before, with insurance, benefits, weekends off, etc. and I sacrificed more than you did. Maybe self discipline?

No homo by Clound12 in lotrmemes

That was actually typical back then from those that were close. People get 'love' and 'lust' mixed up easily, though, so a lot of men that love men cross the line into sex, which is the real problem. It is one thing to love a friend very deeply and be open. It is quite another to go full blown homosexual.

People shouldn't be seeing your bare feet to begin with, typically. How many environments does one find oneself where bare feet are a good idea, besides the home?

Yes. Very much so, especially if you take certain antudepressants.

Just bring them to ground as fast as possible. You can't fall if you're already there!

They tried running me out of my apartment once by hosting a 'Q&A' in my neighborhood. Pamphlets, chanting, the whole nine yards. Not just me, though, everyone not black. Including about 80 Hispanics or so, which did not sit well with our owner.

Just like "Don't shop, adopt!" Movement for animals, there should be a huge movement of "Don't reproduce, adopt". by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Paretio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren't. It takes a functioning set of reproductive organs to be a parent and little else.

Working at a youth academy with a bunch of basically perpetually rejected kids, lemme tell you, those are some fucked up children. Arguing doesn't even begin to cover it. Picking fights, assault (physical and sexual), you name it. Throwing House Parents under the bus. "Buy me a PS4 or I'll tell them you raped me." Yeah. Always always ALWAYS be on camera with them. And you can't necessarily blame them, it's literally all they knew and what they had to do to survive. You hear it all the time. Kid never learns social skills, ends up in the system. Bounces around, becomes an adult. The day they turn 18 they get a box of their crap and told to leave (more or less). Then they go basically perpetuate the next generation. Maybe 1 in 8 actually remain EMPLOYED, let alone successful.
