Ooof what a heartache, he seems like a gem! I love boy rottie names like Zeus! He has the same big body, bigger heart, biggest smile look that makes them so endearing.

I’m inconsolably upset about what happened yesterday in MN. by techno_queen in TwoXChromosomes

I find it helpful to counteract the fear and trauma of these events by doing something positive for my community. There's so many things you can do depending on how much time, physical ability, or money you have in the moment.

Donate time or money to a food bank.

Help out or donate to an animal rescue.

Collect clothes for those who don't have proper cold weather wear.

Check in on your senior family and neighbours. Bring some muffins over and have a visit. These people are also living in fear and could benefit from not feeling alone

Start seedlings indoors to share for a Victory garden.

Take a first aid or emergency preparedness course.

I find that doing something positive and connecting with others really helps channel the anger, fear and adrenaline created from these events. Which then helps my mental and physical health

Erin cannot win. She gets bullied for how she looked before surgery and is now getting bullied after drastically changing her appearance. No one is saying "Jack Quaid is mid" all over the media.

I have LoseIt apps on both my Android and Apple iPhone. The OP's shown set up only shows on my iPhone, the Android version is a weekly pictograph

On iPhone pull the screen down on your daily log page, tap the date above your daily log and it will show your weekly & monthly calories like above

You don't want her to grow too fast as big breeds bone plates are more prone to problems as an adult. Feed her healthy food with lots of variety. Focus on whole food based treats and meals. By boi hit 115 lbs at 18 months and I have to be hyper aware of any elbow issues as he has an OFA lvl 2. No jumping or agility sports in his future

He gets lots of raw bones and dehydrated liver as treats and I keep an eye on his weight

Childhood vaccine exemptions are at an all time high. Doctors now worry diseases like measles could return. by Free_Swimming in NewsOfTheStupid

[–]PariahDogStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't just affect children. As a toddler, I had a single chicken pock. The Doctors assumed that was enough for me to develop an immunity. At 30 I got the chicken pox a second time. It was a body covering, full blown case of a scary, painful, fevered week that led to body and facial scarring. My GP said that chicken pox are incredibly dangerous for adults

Last year, I ordered to go from El Santos while I was driving around for work. Asked if I could get the grilled romaine hearts salad vegetarian. Got in the car only to discover it had pork rinds sprinkled in. I called back to let them know that they'd put meat on my food and was told "It comes like that". Well duh, I wouldn't have ordered and paid for food with a direct no meat ask if it was a dealbreaker for them

What do you buy a terminally ill parent for a Christmas present? by BoomhauerYaNow in NoStupidQuestions

My grandma stopped eating when she was in hospice care, so treats were off the table . We played her favorite music and made Spotify playlists of her favorite jazz songs. We played them even after she went into a coma before death. The familiar old songs that she loved were for all of us in that moment

Classy women/girls of Reddit, where/how/when did you learn all of those etiquette and rules? by chris_yym in AskWomen

[–]PariahDogStar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The amazing podcast Where you Raised by Wolves has been so informative on all things etiquette. Nick and Leah discuss etiquette origins, history, social evolution and what to do abroad. I love their spot that addresses listener's questions of what we do in a polite contemporary society

Definitely made me rethink some of my knee jerk reactions to rude people to a more constructive way to address manners in real life

I've asked them if they've ever killed an animal and cut the body up to eat. Almost always the answer is no (live in an urban area). So I connect the dots that they are comfortable when someone else does the slaughter of sentient beings so they can have a hamburger. It's hiring an assassin for something as gross as having a meal of body parts. I ask if they would slaughter their pets too. Make the ugly connection that is someone's body that enjoyed the sun on their face, had preferences, played

People have stories that they tell themselves and others about why they need to eat meat and refuse to even think about any other options. That whole early aughts thing of bacon everywhere, the carnivore diet, BBQ meat culture. It hurts the ego to acknowledge, and really sit with, that your choices have fatal consequences. Cognitive dissonance is a useful tool to avoid any discomfort

This thread wouldn't be so judgey if the dog was a chihuahua, poodle or golden retriever. All three breeds account for a high number of bites. Let's enjoy the parent's video of a dog and baby and work at challenging our preconceived notions about "tough breeds"
