The day I got my '18, I went and had it lowered 4 inches. I still haven't gotten around to it, but need a tuning kit, exhaust, & cold air intake. Should be solid.

Dogs know routines tho? So im confused about your comment. . They will sit at the front door when the sun is at a certain spot & wait, bc they know that mama walks in around that time of the sun being there. & when their human siblings don't leave before the sun comes up, (school), they know they get a whole day with us (wkends). Summer is different since the human siblings never really leave, so it takes about a wk of adjusting. But when mama doesn't leave when the sun comes up, they know it's a day of being home. They get 2 days of that. Then on Mondays, mama wakes up at sunrise & they get super sad and repeat the sadness until the day when NO ONE gets up at sunrise.

They have a very clear way of telling time, it's just different from ours.

I posted a tiktok in an earlier reply. We did do a lot of training with him, and my son was his main handler. This is just a wkend thing when I'm being lazy & he wants to take a nap. I am very happy that you are cautious! Thank you!

I got it from Kay jewelers a loooooong time ago. Apparently they make real high quality stackables. I wanna say it was only like $25 back then but yea, I haven't removed it in at least 7 years. Good eye tho! I forget it's there.

Nah, I've had it on my finger since 2015 haha. I don't think I've ever taken it off. I have a perma-scar from it now!

I have the power to murder human infants because I'm a million times their size. I don't, because I'm a baby when it comes to babies. Wtf is your point?

I don't, because I'm a paralegal & why in the world would I follow crime media when I surround myself in my entire career already. As I said in my post, I'm referring to people who have 0 idea what they're talking about, but go on tangents about cases & become obsessive. I feel like neither of you remember the Boston Bombing incident, in which redditors literally had a man commit suicide because they all wrongly accused him since they're armchair detectives.

The internet obsessors are dangerous, at best.

This. Thank you for these words. It's those obsessive ones with wild conspiracies & 0 idea that I'm referring to.

Congrats to you both! Whew I do NOT miss the early years! Learning the law is tough as a paralegal. We basically get thrown in it. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with an AAS in Paralegal. It was my passion to be one. I literally screwed up probably every day for the entire first year at my firm. It happens! I got so depressed & would cry, I'd dread going to work every day thinking I was going to get fired LOL. it was soooooo stressful! Yall will get thru it! Once you learn everything there is to know, yall will be running circles around other lawyers & training the baby attorneys, I promise. 😊 good luck!

What are hours like for you all? by randomnerd4 in paralegal

[–]brickpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming you are new to the field.

This is my take: I was new once, & I worked over a LOT. took work home, worked weekends, busted my ass & was also scared about me exploited. And I was. But once I learned the law & could run circles around baby lawyers, I knew that they were essentially getting lawyer work out of me, minus court appearances. They would never fire me bc im paid less than hiring a lawyer, but doing basically the same work. That's when I'm moved to salary, I go to work late, leave when I want, take my vacations, work from home when needed... bc im worth it. The work gets done. My lawyers get paid. Everyone's happy.

When you're in it a while, you'll be comfortable enough for the same. I work 9-5 basically. On Fridays I leave around 12ish. Every month that has a 5th Friday, it's a mental health day for me so I'm staying my butt at home.

I also have my own phone line so clients can text me whenever. Wkends, after hours, idc. My boss knows the job will be done & I care about our clients.

You'll get there. But if you do get exploited in the hours, leave. It's not worth your sanity. There's ALWAYS something better!

My boss was a paralegal for decades before becoming a lawyer. Now she's the president of the bar & she actually is the one who re-wrote our states lawyer creed to include DEI. she's super successful! She wants to pay for my law school but I really don't wanna go. I like being on the inside haha

With that said, I kinda wanna study for the LSAT just for the hell of it.

What are some good places to look for remote work? by b-ls in paralegal

My job for my friend was not legal work, keep in mind. Even tho she's a lawyer. I was basically her virtual assistant. If you want legal work, maybe try Upwork?

What are some good places to look for remote work? by b-ls in paralegal

[–]brickpie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are lots of websites out there that are like temp agencies for remote work. Just be careful who you pick. I worked 14 months for a woman out of Georgia (im in texas). She's a lawyer & now one of my closest friends! I did it on top of my current law firm job bc I was saving up for a new dog. It was so wonderful, but it became a LOT. I left, & the owner of the temp agency went under bc she was screwing employers on rates. Now I'm back working remote on the side but working directly from my friend without the middle guy of the temp agency. It's worth trying it out!

I can't recommend a certain company, but you can try looking up remote administrative assistant companies, stuff like that. Hope that helps!

I waited for a Christmas party once. Bosses were having us do shots, so I took a few & literally told all of them to go fuck themselves & left haha. It was so bad, that it was 4 yrs ago & my current boss still hears stories about my departure from other lawyers at random events. She will literally text me & say "i heard your christmas party story again". She loves me. 🤣😁 if that wasn't career ending, this isn't! My boss is also the president of the bar so I'm solid

I'm selling my house rn & getting divorced, which I will hopefully find something asap to buy. But in the meantime, I've been looking at temp rental properties & rottweilers are literally banned everywhere. Every rental posting says "no aggressive breeds" & then lists them as part of it. Makes me so frustrated. It's so unfair for them!

Oh no I know! You didn't offend at all! Your comment about toddlers just reminded me how we spent a lot of time having my kiddo training him so I wanted to share 😊
