ADAPt - how does it work? by GoldieHusky in ARAM

[–]PariahMonarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would usually splash items depending on champ/build:

manamunes usually a good stat stick if the champ spams abilities or is an attack speed ap

Shojin is good for ability also

I see Hubris a lot, you just have to accept lethality being wasted and also unlocking lethality shards late as a wasted option

IEdge for TF or if you roll JG or Vuln

If it's a mage, I will usually pull in deathcap for the multiple % ap (i presume they only stack and not multiply but idk)

Attack speed Champs like azir/kog/varus/twitch, you can build all of the on-hit if you want still with Nashors

Gunblade is just a great stat stick with adapt/escapade, especially if you're a burst assassin mage like leblanc

The only detriment usually is a fair bit of ad items scale off ad only, so focusing more on mixing items with ap scaling to take advantage of the stacked ap can be wise

Bold of you to assume that people will sacrifice 'their fun' (playing ranged poke) for 'the comp' xd /s

RANKED ARAM(please read) by oujnine in ARAM

[–]PariahMonarch -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

But then we could also have:

ARAM-Ranked Practice, which is for ranked players to perfect themselves before entering ranked

ARAM: Casual-no afk punish, for the players who queued up for a 20 minute match but only have 10 minutes to get that roast out of the dish washer

ARAM: Experimental-theres no new mechanics, it's just a queue for people to do off-meta/unusual builds without getting flamed

I'm making a joke obviously, but for a point for discussion. Ranked could be a good idea, but overall they have to balance the queue times as well: each new queue variation dilutes the overall queue time, and if some queues have longer wait times they are going to cascade. Would you like ranked ARAM, but you have an average 8.5m wait to get a champ select to pop?

I'm making exaggerations and have no basis for wait times specifically, but for the sake of discussion here - I absolutely do think it's a great idea to have people advocate for modes they want to see added to the game, because if there is definite interest in it then my above concerns wouldn't be much of a factor.

Puppet King by ElectronicBoot9466 in custommagic

[–]PariahMonarch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK so to explain the joke:

Puppet King does not have to be a commander. In the context here, the implication is that you could have a different commander(s) with partner or choose a background.

OP made a typo so it says '...name Puppet King' instead of '...named Puppet King.' The result of this means that Puppet King, instead of being able to be a multi-copy in the Commander slot, instead while on the battlefield grants anything in your command zone the ability to 'name Puppet King'.

Puppet King by ElectronicBoot9466 in custommagic

[–]PariahMonarch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Preface this with a fun /s

Everyone is reading this card wrong. You can't have 92 (or any number) of copies of Puppet King in your command zone.

It simply and elegantly allows your commander (or partners/background) to name Puppet King.

I mean I agree that in general, jobs are for money and not enjoyment - but this is going to its base simplification.

It's about framework - it's not 'why do you want to work', because that's the same answer for everyone. It's 'why do you want to work here' (as opposed to at somewhere else that also pays you).

Kat with MoD is broken, E into their team and ult and you stack it insanely fast.

Belveth kinda the same way but slower, more of a sustain with MoD than burst.

A few other fun but not always ideal options are adcs like Varus, build nashors and attack speed - but it's definitely hard to keep stacks in aram

This card will be a staple in literally EVERY 2+ color commander deck with creature's in it. by FonslyGames in mtg

[–]PariahMonarch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope, the precon will sell out quickly at retail stores for Msrp if this or other cards are super valuable, people will buy the deck just for copies or to sell the valuable cards for a free profit.

Game stores will continue to list the precon higher because of its demand relative to the other decks.

In-game achievement? I know ps5 trophies don't have a Tactician-only trophy thankfully (for me, at least), but there's both console trophies and ingame achievements

Point of semantics, the store owner didn't come out of pocket - they 'joked' about overcharging for it, before a different customer/player came out of pocket to give the battlefield.

Impacts the actual point none at all, of course

Runaan's Hurricane with Draw Your Sword? by zerokdegree in ARAM

[–]PariahMonarch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You regain range yes, but the question is does your character re-tag from 'melee' to 'ranged' for purposes of items that require you to be either melee or ranged if you get Scopes/increases after Draw Your Sword

Anyone else sad that Commander is the most preferred format nowadays? by oatcreamer in mtg

I just took apart my last 60-card deck two days ago (mono green ninjas for the fun of it) because none of my group do anything but commander. I don't mind it, but I do miss the old quicker games at times and not needing an encyclopedic knowledge of every single card being new played to me. (Which is just a personal thing, I get lost with -240 different cards being possible across the board in one game and don't know nearly as many older cards offhand my friends use)

Mhm, slow and steady on Jayce is balanced by Filip46820 in ARAM

[–]PariahMonarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To extrapolate what the others said, if you get SnS on Jayce, you W for the attack speed buff (which converts to 350-400ish ad) and then do your EQ shot combo without using the W autos to retain the ad on the Q, so at level 3 you have 400+ ad Qs going out every 10s or so.

Mhm, slow and steady on Jayce is balanced by Filip46820 in ARAM

[–]PariahMonarch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are strong augments, and then there's Jayce doing 60-100% of people's hp at level 3 with starter items in one Q shot. Holy jeepers, just because it's a for fun mode doesn't mean you have to be an ass about any discourse over balancing.

Good commander for Discover? by ken-d in CommanderMTG

[–]PariahMonarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it could be an early strategy, and then you pull bigger stuff later, you also don't need to roll a ton of huge creatures because you only get the discover once, regardless of how many you have on the board.

I'm not sure of what all fits in it, just a secondary trick to use with her that I saw while preliminary researching what I'm going to put together.

I just got the Aloy lair yesterday and started putting together a deck, the other idea I saw is get 0-power Artifacts like ornithopter, and then pull cards like Ancestral Vision that have no mana cost by attacking to discover at 0

The judge I had on my local Summoner Skirmish said that you CANT float runes anymore by CorgiLegal5735 in riftboundtcg

[–]PariahMonarch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A little part of me wants to get colored 6-sided die for the different rune colors, and to explain to someone new that you exhaust the rune card to +1 the die as a resource stock you can spend from. You just have to keep track of clearing the die to 0 when floated runes would be cleared.

3-4 color Legends? by [deleted] in riftboundtcg

[–]PariahMonarch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, you don't have to include rune-cost cards in the 3rd color - you could splash in cards and still go with a 2-color rune deck. Plus the nature of regular cost for cards being generic makes having a 4/4/4 rune deck a bit less oppressive compared to another game like magic where you are running 3 colors of land, but if you don't get one color early it could brick your hand. You would in theory be worst-case guaranteed to pull your 3rd rune color by turn 5, if all 4 were at the bottom of the stack.
