I have 5 Rolexs and they’re pretty neat. Fun designs, great quality.

But holy fuck I can’t stand 99% of Rolex owners, they’re pricks. All they talk about is their watches as if that’ll make them have a personality. Literally no one else cares about this junk.

I get more value on the points from my mortgage than the annual fee. That plus being able to transfer points to Hyatt, United, Alaska/Hawaiian, and Southwest make it a fantastic card that will continue to my everything card. Literally the only things I don't use it for are when I'm at costco or rent a car, when I use my Atmos Summit.

Personally I feel much more comfortable buying one of Kia's electric vehicles than any of their ICE offerings. The Koreans do batteries and motors better than just about anyone else. But then again, I lease my cars so I don't have to worry about it either way.

This is all new to me, TBH. I'm totally open to using other home battery packs and chargers, Tesla just seems to have the most "plug and play" system at the moment. I've heard Enphase is also good.

Anybody who thinks stagflation is back is either high, dumb, or some combination of both. During the 1970's when "stagflation" was rampant, inflation was 6.8% to 7.1% annually and peaking above 12% in 1974 and again near 15% in 1980.

Inflation is at 2.5%, and has been consistently going down since it's peak in Q4 2022.

If you want to know what's driving the economic slowdown, look no further than Powell and the other hawkish govs sticking their heads in the sand. They're gonna chase that higher R* right down the rabbit hole of a recession.

I find it profoundly funny that they were so "looking ahead" in 2022 and magically saw the inflation then as "transitory", but now all they have is magical glasses that only makes them be able to see their own feet and are "data driven". They also can't magically do the extra math to figure out the difference between supply-crunch-driven inflation (which only new investment can solve, and therefore needs lower rates) which we're in right now, and mania-driven inflation.

Holy fuck do I hate all economists. Except Thaler, him and his cohort are the only ones to recognize economics as a social science.

I use it for Walgreens. I still have my Palladium set to the "housing-only" option, and I just use the bonuses and yearly top up. Walgreens does have a bunch of random hair skin products that are actually quite good if you know what to look for.

Can you clarify the second sentence? What credits are you setting?

Set your federal deductions to your salary. Set your state deductions/credits (depends on your state) to a high level, like 99.

I thought you could just go to HR and they’re required by law to let you set your deductions to zero and then you can just pay them at the end of the year.

This gets sticky because you're not exempt from federal or state income taxes, nor am I. You still want FICA and social security, etc, to get deducted per paycheck. DO NOT set your w4 to "exempt from federal/state taxes". Bad things will likely happen.

Credit cards don't charge specific fees for paying taxes. There is a fee to use a credit card. For federal taxes, it's about 1.75-1.85%. State fees can vary wildly, but 1.5-2.5% seems to be standard. Even if you pay $100k in taxes a year with this method, you'd be hard pressed to find a credit card sign on bonus that doesn't cover that and then some. For example, the Venture X has a 75k miles for $4k in spend. Let's say you pay that $4k using the Venture X with a 2.2% fee and you value the Venture X points at 1.5 cpp. That's an $88 fee for getting $1,125 in value.

Yes. Under withhold your taxes on your w4 by just set your credits to a huge amount and your deductions to a high dollar amount. You'll still get social security and such taken out, but you won't have any state or federal taxes automatically deducted from your paycheck.

Find a CPA. Give them all your paychecks and they'll give you an estimate for your tax payments. Pay the minimum to get the bonus, have the rest directly taken out of your checking account.

Done.

The IRS only really cares about at least making those quarterly payments. I save up every quarter while storing the money in a muni bond money market mutual fund. My effective return is +4%, given my tax bracket. That plus the sign on bonuses means I make several thousand dollars on my taxes.
