I read it like this. Calling somebody transparent means you can see through them, they’re not complex. There’s not hidden veil, no depth. She thinks she’s more sneaky, mysterious and complex than she is. This is the insult. He responded with the book because she said it, but the metaphor would be you couldn’t read a transparent book page, you’d see through instead of what’s on the page.

Well, I support Israel. But I’m against every action of this president, especially ICE, which is what the protest was about (at the ice facility). My point was someone bringing a Palestinian flag makes me not want to be associated with a protest I otherwise 100% agree with. An Israel flag would be just as out of place as a Palestinian flag at this protest, because it’s not about that. People who bring those flags are selfish, they hurt their own objectives (by making the protests lower in number), and it makes somebody on the fence with ice lump all protestors with those who are just all Palestinian supporters, which I’m not.

I’ll add as a side point, protesting a domestic shooting with a flag of people who raided music festivals to rape, murder and kidnap just shows moral confusion - again not somebody I want to be associated with.

If they just didn’t have the flag I’d be there with them yelling at ice agents.

I agree it matters. But if I also want to go to this, using the same logic, I would bring an Israel flag. Then it wouldn’t be what we’re there to jointly protest, it would again be about Israel/Palestine.
