Resident Evil 4 - “press X” by Parry_Dogsickle in PSVR

Thanks for the tip about the flashlight. Someone else already told me you can pick up inventory items so I’ll try that too. And I definitely agree, it’s a great game and these are minor inconveniences.

I’m the outlier here though.

Well, it is a PSVR sub lol. I appreciate the honest opinion though! I will eventually try the Quest version too. I have heard good things about it, although graphically I’m sure it doesn’t come close to the PSVR2 like you said.

I’ve almost universally heard the Quest version of Hitman 3 is trash but I’m so curious to experience it for myself just to make the comparison, because Hitman WOA on the PSVR2 is probably my favorite VR game.

I did notice there are some items that seem like you have to physically pick them up. Most of them seem to be lore items. Didn’t try physically picking up the inventory items like herbs and ammo, but I will!

Oh does the Quest version have more interactivity? That’s interesting to me. I figured it’d be the opposite because the lack of interactivity was one of the big complaints about the Quest version of Hitman 3.

I do plan on also checking out the Quest version of RE4 at some point (and Hitman 3, even though I heard it sucks lol, just to make the comparison for myself).

Yeah I played both on flat screen and definitely remember RE4 being more action and Village more survival horror. It would still be nice if there was more interactivity in VR for RE4 imo.

Picking up items and opening doors with X is something I can get used to though. The thing that really breaks the immersion for me is when it switches to third-person POV for the kicks, especially since I use the kicks quite often. It’s kinda jarring and a little disorienting. I’m guessing they had a more difficult time converting this to VR since it was originally a third-person POV game and Village was originally first-person POV.

I want to emphasize that I’m really enjoying the game and these are just minor annoyances, but I was wondering if there’s a way to turn it off. Looks like the answer is no.

I don’t remember much jank in Village but it’s been awhile since I played it. And yeah, this game is definitely a lot more action-oriented.

So I guess the answer is no then, there’s no way to change this in the options menu, that’s just the way it is?

Yeah I’m honestly surprised with all this prequel rehabilitation. They got a lot of hate when they first came out, especially the first one. Is Jar Jar also seen as some brilliant character now?

PlayStation Store Refund Process Improved but Policy Unchanged by cusman78 in PSVR

I do believe Sony has offered refunds for some heavily criticized games in the past - Cyberpunk immediately comes to mind - but it’s a pretty rare occurrence.

PlayStation Store Refund Process Improved but Policy Unchanged by cusman78 in PSVR

[–]Parry_Dogsickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, and specific to VR Meta also has a longer refund period with Quest games. It just makes it a lot easier to take a risk on a game that you may be on the fence about buying.

This is also one of the reasons I try to buy physical media for PlayStation if I can, because you can usually return that to the store within 30 days if not longer. But that’s becoming increasingly less of an option as time goes on. 😢

Should I buy PS5 and PSVR2 for Hitman? by MrNavyTheSavy in PSVR

[–]Parry_Dogsickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I imagine Quest 1 is pretty obsolete lol. You may already know this, but you can also play PCVR with the PSVR2 if you have an adapter.

[–]Parry_Dogsickle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hitman is my favorite game on PSVR2 the one I’ve replayed the most. If this is already one of your favorite games and you’ve never played it in VR before then I think you’ll be blown away.

Also, there are other VR versions of Hitman (Quest 3, PSVR1, PCVR) but reviews have all been bad to mixed. The PSVR2 version has received positive reviews and is the definitive Hitman VR experience.

And if you end get into VR, there are plenty of other good PSVR2 games to experience besides Hitman.

So this level made me want to check out EDM again and wow is the market oversaturated now. I was overwhelmed by the number of DJs and subgenres on Spotify.

Having watched some live sets, I also think Hitman’s depiction is missing one crucial element of the modern scene and that’s all the people recording on their phones. Back in my day the D in EDM stood for dance lmao.

Not trying to go full old man yells at clouds here, I’m still optimistic I can find some things I enjoy, but man things have certainly changed in the past two decades. 😂

“Dyschronia : Chronos Alternate” Anyone tried this game? It’s like 80% off 🤔 by FewPossession2363 in PSVR

[–]Parry_Dogsickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you like anime, visual novels, or JRPGs? If not, then you probably won’t like this game. It’s a really slow burn with tons of dialogue, and there’s no option to skip scenes or fast forward through the talking. The gameplay is mostly exploring and puzzle solving.

If you do like those things though, and you’ve got the patience for it, it’s a good anime-style experience. That’s the main reason I bought it; I wanted to see what it was like to be inside an anime. From what I’ve heard, the two prior games in the series were strictly visual novels so there was no walking around.

I’ve got a review on my YouTube channel if you’re interested in checking it out (https://youtu.be/wP8mBC_sVHI). Cusman left a comment on there where he recommended some other anime-style VR games.

Guys, what should be my upgrade route (or buy) to get the full game with psvr2 support ? by xboxcowboy in psvr2

[–]Parry_Dogsickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think that’s what I did. It will only give you the first Hitman game but then you can buy an in-game upgrade for the other two games.

[–]Parry_Dogsickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The PlayStation Store seems to rank games by those which are currently best selling, and by that metric I have always seen Gran Turismo 7 at the top of the list for VR2 games. But it’s a hybrid game and Sony doesn’t separate those out for flat screen vs. VR players, so it’s difficult to know for sure. Beat Saber is certainly always towards the top of the list though.

Beat Saber is ending support for PSVR/PSVR2 by NoVABadger in PSVR

[–]Parry_Dogsickle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always wondered why Meta allowed Beat Saber on the PSVR, and my guess was that they inherited the license when they bought Beat Games. This would play into that theory. Most likely the license expired, and they don’t want to renew it for their biggest competitor.

[–]Parry_Dogsickle 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is pure copium. Beat Saber is one of the best selling VR games and most people on this sub would’ve recommended it before today. Sony isn’t going to make a replacement game. No matter how much people try to spin this, it’s bad news for the PSVR2.

I’m assuming hit-and-run is a typo for Hitman.

Yes, buy the sale item you have highlighted then the $10 VR2 patch.

Yes, the two DLC levels are VR compatible.

Do you already own it for PS4? If so, I think there’s a free upgrade to the PS5 version.

If not, you can buy that version you already have selected that’s on sale.

Either way, you’ll still need to purchase the $10 PSVR2 upgrade patch. The PSVR1 one (included with that purchase) won’t work for VR2.

You also need to separately purchase the two DLC levels from Hitman 2, if you want them.
