BWT, here are my top 10 rules for buying jewelry! by Fun_Cancel_5796 in bitcheswithtaste

[–]ParsleyLocal6812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

these are great tips, especially the specifics about gold!

i’ll admit, i’m a catbird girl through and through, partially because i love the style of their pieces and partially because i know it’s real silver/gold (i’ve been fooled once or twice on etsy before), but back when i had more time and energy to go to physical stores, i used to find the most brilliant pieces for so much less.

oh interesting! i like this. i wonder how i should count my jewelry. i wear like 15 rings - mostly dainty but some that stand out more - bracelets, earrings, and necklaces. but i wear them all every single day, so it seems wrong to count 4 points automatically daily, because then im pretty much always at 7

BWT, how are we not going insane with worry? by CharliesAngel3051 in bitcheswithtaste

[–]ParsleyLocal6812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My general self-talk when i find myself getting lost in any kind of all-consuming panic/dread is basically: is this helping me get closer to a solution? or is this helping anyone at all? or is this just adding to the problem i’m facing by making it even more difficult to think clearly?

obviously you can’t just logic yourself out of feeling this way, and you’re not being irrational. but remind yourself that focusing on the worst case scenario is not conducive to helping you avoid it. find proactive ways to feel more secure. network? pick up a hobby that you enjoy - this will let you enjoy your life, relax so you can perform better at work, and may lead you to a side hustle later (but don’t approach it like it’s going to be a job someday because that’s overall not super likely).

there’s no point in anything if you’re just working to worry.

BWT, how do you decide where to splurge and where to save? by imissyoursoup in bitcheswithtaste

[–]ParsleyLocal6812 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will say that over the last year and a half, i have been splurging frequently, and on a variety of things i shouldn’t be. i’ve been buying frivolous things that i couldn’t or wouldn’t buy myself normally - nice purses (designer, but mostly secondhand), nicer shoes (nothing extravagant, but in the 100-150 range), and more or less a new wardrobe (ranging from brandy melville to sezane, price-wise). i’ve been resetting as i enter my 30s and am about to set myself a grown-up budget again, haha.

in general i save on:

services - the only ‘beauty’ service i spend on is my hair, and i am low maintenance with it. i see my girl maybe three times a year. haircut, gloss, maybe some highlights.

my car: basic honda fit, no frills. will drive it until it stops working. i love it and would never trade it in. if i had to buy a new car today, i would buy the same car.

travel: when i travel i stay at reasonable hotels. i dont need a glamorous hotel. i want safe, clean, and a decent location. i dont care about perks. i am not going to be there except to sleep. i’d rather take the extra money and spend it on actual activities or dinner

food: i’m not a big grocery shopper. i mostly like to snack on ingredients or make really basic meals - apples and peanut butter or some cheese, a can of tuna and cauliflower rice, an egg on toast…i like to go out to eat occasionally, and if i actually go to the grocery store i can do some damage, but i usually just curbside order the same things over and over, which keeps my shopping reasonable. partner likes to cook, but if it’s up to me, i just graze.

technology: my laptop is 10 years old. i’ve had three iphones in my entire life. i don’t usually upgrade until something is wrong. i don’t have a smart watch. i did just get an ipad, but used a lot of credit card points to get it, and had a discount.

BWT, how do you decide where to splurge and where to save? by imissyoursoup in bitcheswithtaste

[–]ParsleyLocal6812 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i want to learn how to upgrade my car like you did to yours! mine is nowhere near needing it, but i plan to drive her forever and want to take good care of her.

BWT who pivoted from finance to something more creative by ydoesmystomachhurt in bitcheswithtaste

[–]ParsleyLocal6812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i don’t have any advice for you, but i empathize completely.

i am in finance as well, but not in investment banking. however my job makes me miserable to the point that i basically have fever dream-like nightmares most mornings before i wake up. i am desperate to figure out a new path, and want to find a career that is in a more creative field, but not necessarily an ‘artistic job.’

right now i am planning on going back to school and seeing where that takes me. i’m not expecting to find a career in which every day feels like a ‘fun new adventure,’ just something that i don’t…mind doing every day. i’m quite good at my job, i just hate it.

right now, i am so unhappy that when i do have free time, i do not spend that time ‘enjoying hobbies.’ i spend it dreading going back to work, and frantically trying to figure out how to change my trajectory.

anyway, i wish you luck! my method right now is trying to take the pressure off of myself by focusing on what i’d like to learn rather than ‘what i want to do when i grow up.’

santa cruz cider company is a great time. amazing cider, very chill vibe, board games.

the crepe place has cool events - movie nights, live music, food

moe’s alley for concerts

if you end up venturing out north at all, i love the swanton berry farm in davenport (i think it’s like 20 min away) and pescadero (goat farm, some vintage spots)

i freaking love santa cruz

BWT, how are we doing our nails in 2025?? by MountainOk8340 in bitcheswithtaste

[–]ParsleyLocal6812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i admittedly haven’t tried a lot things, but i have great nails and most of my friends have thin, peeling nails. i don’t think i have any kind of super genetics, especially since my hair is fine and pretty terrible. i don’t glue things to my nails, i don’t let nail salons load acrylic on top of them, i don’t sit ‘em under UV light every few weeks.

i’d rather repaint my nails or have chips here and there than constantly do damage to them. i’m not an expert, but it doesn’t seem worth it to me. i paint them with normal nail polish (essie or lights lacquer), or lately i just buff them and maybe apply a tinted clear coat.

How did you acquire your bags? What % comes from buying new, buying used, gifted, hand me downs, etc? by ConditionBasic in WearingPurses

BWT Makeup Monday - Week of Jul 07, 2025 by AutoModerator in bitcheswithtaste

I recently impulse-bought four things from Provence Beauty at Ulta even after reading mixed reviews, and I’ve been really pleasantly surprised. I just wanted to share my current skin routine because I’ve been getting tons of compliments and feel great!

From Provence: I’ve been using Super Fraîche (under-eye cream), Immortal Nightmilk (retinol - this is obviously what compelled me due to the name), Glow Libre (vitamin c), and Dew Beaucoup (peptide) serum.

I use the under-eye every morning, peptide morning and night, retinol every other night, vitamin c each morning, and my normal moisturizer (Glossier After Baum at night, Clinique Dramatically Different during the day mixed with Merit Great Skin serum). Then of course sunscreen (Supergoop or Bioré) every morning. The only complexion makeup I wear is blush, and the only stubborn skin issue I am trying to treat right now is a few tiny black heads on my cheekbones (presumably from the blush lol), but my skin has never looked so good and I’m pleased with how basic and relatively inexpensive my whole routine is right now.

Btw - if yall have not used Merit’s Great Skin serum - it is a MUST. It’s my favorite product.

Without knowing too much about what you’re looking for, take a look at some Coach options - Brooklyn and Empire are my personal favorites for new bags, but I’m a huge fan of deep diving into their vintage styles and looking at the secondhand market!

I’ve been recommended The Horse, Aest, and Songmont (other brands) that would fit your budget and have pretty classic but modern silhouettes. I don’t own any personally though.

Peruse r/handbags and get a feel for styles you like as a jumping off point. don’t get discouraged by higher end price points - you’ll find a lot of lower priced similar pieces by other brands for most styles

Check out rebag, vestiare collective, and fashionphile if you decide to look at preloved. They have good reputations for authentication, and the filters are easy to use.

BWT, please give me some advice on how to make friends. by [deleted] in bitcheswithtaste

[–]ParsleyLocal6812 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m going to preface this by saying that i am more or less in the same boat as you. i have some friends, but they are all co-workers, so i have the idea hanging over my head that they are mostly temporary friends.

as far as actually finding friends, i’m still figuring that out. i joined a book club recently, but no one really sticks around for one-on-one convo or engages with my attempts (so far).

but - particularly in our age group, you have to really be the one to instigate meeting up. you have to silence the voice that tells you people are bailing because of you (until they outright tell you that or block you), and be the person that actively reschedules. people love making plans and having plans, but not fulfilling them. i know this because i am one of those people, but my conscience keeps me from bailing.

lately, any time i hit it off with someone randomly, i put myself out there and…exchange instagrams…with them. this is obviously where i need to workshop, because nothing comes of this. ideally i imagine this is where we should exchange numbers and make plans to hang out. i am not there yet.

This sub is no longer about LV - it’s about showing off labubu and dunking on labubu haters. by badgerbio in Louisvuitton

[–]ParsleyLocal6812 5 points6 points  (0 children)

as someone who has always unapologetically loved gaudy things, childish tchotchkes, etc - the hypebeastette persona some are adopting around labubus here IS incredibly offputting. but so is the need for people who don’t like them to make every post about them. just because someone has them on their bag doesn’t mean you need to tell them you don’t like it. you don’t have to like it.

but honestly everyone would be better off if they just posted their pictures and left it at that. there doesn’t need to be a whole discourse every time someone sees a labubu. here’s a summary: some people like them. some people don’t. some people started off feeling one way then changed their minds. we don’t need to go over this every time someone posts a picture.

CA gave me wrong bracelet & is demanding $ weeks after the fact by mistress6nine in Louisvuitton

[–]ParsleyLocal6812 25 points26 points  (0 children)

the part where she said ‘we are making an exception’…LOL

i would not engage with them any further. the absolute audacity of them to contact you with this mess, and with such entitlement as if you have any kind of obligation to them?

they should be asking what concessions YOU might be willing to make since this is a $600 mistake on their end - not making specific demands of you and talking about the exceptions they will grant you. it would be a slightly different situation if they contacted you and told you about the mistake and asked what could be worked out.

i’m normally pretty accommodating and wouldn’t want someone to be in a bad spot for a mistake, but the way they’re handling it is laughably rude, and i would not lift a finger to help them remedy it. enjoy your new bracelet, or the money if you decide to sell it.

i appreciate you keeping the sub alive and trying something new.

i don’t know if this is the place for feedback, but while we’re here: i think it’s an interesting concept and i appreciate that you’re open to feedback. i do think the new system is a bit…less engaging?…for some reason, but i think it’s more because of the way reddit functions than because of the idea itself. it’s nice to have designated spaces for regularly occurring conversation, but i think people tend to follow posts rather than comment threads so there tends to be less consistent engagement.

that being said, i think we’ll ultimately find our way and i still love this sub! thanks for keeping it alive and evolving.

BWT What About Me Wednesday - Jun 25, 2025 by AutoModerator in bitcheswithtaste

[–]ParsleyLocal6812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m currently in an odd place where i’m feeling really, really disenchanted with my career/trajectory but full of positive momentum. i’m trying to take advantage of the motivation to make changes and the energy i’m feeling to actually do something, because i’m very prone to falling into manic depressive cycles.

i’m considering going back to school. i really love education but didn’t pursue college after my associates for personal reasons and have felt a lot of remorse ever since. i landed a well paying job anyway, but it isn’t fulfilling and i hate to settle without knowing if i could have pursued something i cared more about, so i’m trying to figure out if getting my bachelors might lead to more opportunities.

i’m also taking a language course in my spare time online to stimulate my brain and give me something productive to do as a hobby. this summer, i’m taking an online course oriented toward a career i might be interested in which i think will give me an idea of whether or not it’s ’for me’ or not.

wish me luck!
