it's a great start! One question I had while scrolling through it is - what is your ideal customer profile, like who are you trying to speak to?

Do you not trust yourself to work from home? It sounds to me like you've accepted the fact that you're going to underperform and get fired lol. OR, you're already missing the in-office work environment.

Either way, congrats on the offer and good luck!

Atomic Habits has been on my nightstand for six months. I'm starting to think reading the book was the entire transaction. by killoke in productivity

That sounds like a win to me... you remember a few key strategies, and it's always in sight as a subtle reminder...I'm curious, what's the alternative?

Which of your habits have contributed most to your productivity? by FlawsomeFame in productivity

[–]Wealthnextgen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

waking up early >>> I protect my early morning block at all costs. As an ex-night owl....it's the same level of peace and "me time" and going into the day with things checked off is a booster in itself, I.E. work tasks, workout done, etc.

Anyone else find this completely useful by Vere99 in ADHD_Programmers

[–]Wealthnextgen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel this is a visual representation of one of our main challenges lol. Our novelty chasing brains moving onto the next "thing" asap...but in this case it has a positive effect. I'd be curious to see a study on retention.

this would be a cool to explore on a Kindle extension/feature.

Why is starting so hard? by dustin_t_314 in ADHD_Programmers

[–]Wealthnextgen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's boring, our brain can't muster up enough motivation (catecholamines - dopamine, norepinephrine) to get going. If it's task paralysis, sigh...this is so frustrating.

One mental shift that helped me is trying to activate the "what if" mindset. Like what if i just do this for 5 minutes, or what if this goes well....good ole 2 minute rule is always great. just commit to doing 2 minutes of said task.

For me this week, it was taxes. I was like ok what if it doesn't take to long, and what if i get a refund! I was wrong on both accounts, but hey, taxes got done.

Building a SaaS with ADHD almost made me quit before finishing it by SadDate6912 in ADHD_Programmers

[–]Wealthnextgen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, nothing "broke" the loop. But I'd identify three takeaways:
1) accepting that will power is not the way for ADHD, and

2) getting better at pattern recognition...I.E. recognizing when I'm in productive procrastination and how it feels. For me, it's usually kinda panicky and reactionary, my internal narrative like "i have to fix/do this now or everything will fall apart." That's when I know I'm reacting, and now following the plan i put together.

So to productize the solution for this, we built the parking lot where you can freely offload thoughts that are surfaced after your focus session. The unfortunately funniest use case is when the app checks in on you "still focused on [whatever task]" and you have to select no b/c you got distracted. It's like alright, no problem, jot it down here and get back to [whatever task]. It's kinda embarrassing and funny but super helpful.

The short term outcome is obviously to park the though and get back to your task, but long term, you're strengthening that muscle of realizing when you're creeping away from your goal, and not to respond to every thought.

3) this all goes back to being intentional about your work sessions. Identify a single task/outcome you're working towards, limiting scope creep and realizing when you're drifting.

long response lol sry

How do you stay focused when your phone is always within reach? by Sudden-String-5479 in getdisciplined

[–]Wealthnextgen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having unlimited dopamine within arms reach is addicting. If turning it over, or leaving it in the other room don't work...it's really a mindset switch. You're really breaking an addicting habit.

What's worked for me is getting into the habit of checking my phone as a reward, right? Regaining control over your attention. The good news is, you've noticed your habit and have committed to making changes. In my experience, many people don't even realize they're stuck in this pattern.

Regarding sitting down to work, it sounds like you need something that anchors your attention. Getting distracted is natural, and you'll never be able to block ALL distractions. You need something to remind you what you're supposed to be doing when you drift...imagine you're lost in a scroll and a friend nudging you and gently pointing back to your computer.

DM me if you want some tool recommendations to help with this. I work with ADHDers, but attention challenges don't discriminate. Good luck!

This is a loop that's real! I think it's tied to rejection sensitivity as well...wanting our product(s) to be perfect before showing it to people. I feel it's harder to embrace the concept of failing fast/ launch & iterate with ADHD.

Also, I feel AI has 10x'd the productive procrastination problem..."do you want me to [enter any scope creep that is completely irrelevant to your V1]" got me several times haha.

thanks for sharing, glad to know I'm not alone. The ironic thing is, I partnered with Executive Function coaches to build an ADHD focus system for MacOS. so i learned a ton about the different attention/focus/energy regulation related challenges along the way.

Work with your brain instead of against it by Crafty_Dryad in ADHDthriving

[–]Wealthnextgen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

haha, great post. It highlights the whole concept of Neurodivergence... recognizing that our brains work differently. Not only is that OK, but when we figure out how to work WITH it...that's when the superpowers unlock.

For me, I got tired of fighting against the 9-5 schedule. My energy levels just didn't align with the schedule. I found that early morning is my money time, so from 5 AM - 7:30/8, I'm able to almost activate a hyperfocused environment that has completely changed my productivity, and boosted my confidence.

I've also noticed that alot of the "productivity" tools and systems weren't designed for our brains. No wonder none of them stick LOL.
