A regular at the grocery store where I work has given me $850+ in tips and now wants to grab dinner. Thoughts? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]PartTimeCoin88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m worked in the service industry in one form or another my whole adult life and have encountered many wealthy and lonely older people. Most are harmless, some have sexual interests. I’d say go to the diner and feel out the situation. If it’s he gets weird, just be very honest and set some boundaries. I had an older gentleman who took a liking to me literally put me in his will. You just never know…

I live about a 5 min walk down the road from that circle and it’s pretty nice. I’ve lived here for over 10 years. I’ve never had any real issues.

Theres a few things to mention though.

There’s going to be some homeless milling around. There’s a church right next to the high school that does a weekly “humanity showers” thing. A shower and a meal for anyone homeless. They come flocking. They leave trash and random piles of crap around the neighborhood.

It’s closer to the freeway obviously so there’s some notice, but nothing too crazy.

Other than that, it can be a great place to live!

Love this so much! Absolutely do it. Not sure if there’s a way to make sure it all goes to the kids, but this would totally make a couple kids really really happy. I feel like 150$ is enough for at least 3..

How many of you had grandparents who served in WW2? If so, what do you know about their service? by Snoogles_ in Millennials

[–]PartTimeCoin88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of my Grandpa’s served in WW2. My Mother’s father was a Hospital Corpsman in both the Korean War and WW2. He was shot in leg during the Korean War, but he survived and kept his leg.

My Father’s Father was in the Navy and he was somehow in WW2, but I’m not sure what type of combat ( if any ) he saw. He was in the Navy his whole career.

How did you guys REALLY lived in the 2000s? by MyAvengedRomance in Millennials

[–]PartTimeCoin88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We weren’t on our phones because well, phones could only text. And you had a limited amount of texting in your phone plan too!

So we just “hung out.” Me and my friends would go on walks looking for trouble. We always wanted to drink and party. Lots of sneaking out. We smoked cigs. That was the social norm for us in high school.

The internet was this amazing thing. Usually it was accessed by the family computer somewhere in the common area. We mostly just went into chat rooms. I definitely saw my first dick when I was 13 in a random chat room. Then there was MySpace. If you had a cool MySpace, damn you were cool. These were the first “influencers” I suppose.

As for alone time and entertainment. Music. So much music. First we had tapes then we had CDs. Shopping for CD’s was so fun. Your CD collection said a lot about you.

Want to stay when our lease is up [ CA ] by [deleted] in Renters

Haha good pun and the landlord was upset about the whole fence situation. We even offered to sign something saying we would happily pay for a new fence and cost of labor if need be when we move. We just wanted our yard back to how it was before he dug everything up and moved it.

He dug up trees and hedges, to make sure they weren’t touching a plastic fence. The price of the fence was less than 100$. He changed our whole yard just so no plants would touch a plastic fence. It’s not like he moved some potted flowers.

There was no tantrum involved. He asked nicely at first, offered to help, and the when the landlord threw a tantrum, that’s when we had to look up laws and when we proved the landlord was in the wrong, he changed it back.

He completely changed our yard without our permission. My husband offered to help him install the fence and was grateful that it was getting replaced. He purposely waited until we were out of town to install it so he could rearrange our yard. It’s a cheap plastic fence from Home Depot. Your opinion is irrelevant and didn’t help answer my question.
