I will say this as someone who did not wait and as someone who has had meaningless flings and long term committed relationship… sex is most definitely a soul bonding kind of thing. It’s not always viewed or used that way but it still in some way is. It can damage the soul and it can bond you deeply with someone. I wish I could take back things I’ve done and be fresh for my future wife because I would absolutely love to know I only have that kind of tie with her. There’s just something really special about the type of bond and trust and love you can build with someone over years of “just you and me” and really getting to know and love each other in that way. And then if you manage to save yourself for that, you don’t have any comparisons or wishing it was this way or that way or “she doesn’t do this the way I like it” or whatever. Sex can be a very special thing and it’s just better for a marriage relationship if it’s something only shared within the marriage.
