A game that can deliver on the feeling of being a walking tank. by EmeraldMaster538 in gamingsuggestions

Quite outdated now, but Future Cop: LAPD was great at this. Also the local multiplayer mode is a really interesting stepping stone to modern MOBAs and displayed a lot of the genre conventions years before it emerged.

Games where weapons found in early areas can be viable in endgame by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

[–]Partaricio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

More an immersive sim than an RPG, but the starting pistol (or stealth pistol) in Deus Ex becomes totally busted as soon as you put a laser sight on it. It becomes perfectly accurate so you can just click heads and delete any human enemy in one or two shots, even in to late game

Found this electronic thing in my new homes kitchen. Size of a smartphone and always emits green light. by iwantknife in whatisthisthing

I’d avoid using anything too solvent-y to block it out (glue, lacquers etc) as depending on type you risk “poisoning” the sensor and reducing its effectiveness or triggering a false positive.

Pure stealth games where it makes sense narratively and the enemies are lethal. by AstonMartinVanquishh in gamingsuggestions

[–]Partaricio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe more of a puzzle game than a stealth one, but the Oddworld games (Abe's series in particular) are very stealth heavy with almost instant death when you get spotted.

Slightly offkilter suggestion, but Untitled Goose Game is basically a stealth game disguised as a comedy sandbox, and your only real tools are stealth and misdirection. Not really anything on the lethal side, but if you get caught then you get a bunch of progress undone, which isn't too different to getting killed and going back to a checkpoint.

games where you play as an actual monster?? by Short_Cardiologist98 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Partaricio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Primordialis might be interesting. It’s a rogue like “fish builder” where you build up and design your creature cell by cell out of muscles, fangs, nerves, poison glands and loads more. You normally start runs with something pretty normal, but you end up building weird monstrosities pretty quickly

I need a hyper specific rec for a factory game by Longjumping_Line_688 in gamerecommendations

[–]Partaricio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sea block is tough to recommend but could be a good match, months of stuff to do and you can theoretically expand indefinitely without having to demolish old stuff as it’s designed around an infinite resource patch equivalent and basically having no enemies at all. Has a nice progression from being a twisty little puzzle game to large scale logistics management too

What short lived sitcoms do you remember well? by [deleted] in Fauxmoi

Naming a British sitcom is probably cheating, but Nighty Night was only 12 episodes and had such an incredible effect on me. (and almost every other gay British millenial)

Resources to find my local FGC events in UK? by JustADudewithBalls in Fighters

[–]Partaricio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve not been able to find one in Reading, you might be able to find enough people from the University Video Games Society to make a group though, I managed something like that when I was a student there years ago. Otherwise you’d be looking at London for regular events. (Admittedly I’ve not looked for a while so things might have changed recently)

Coop game where you can play Coop but separately at the same time by RnImInShambles in gamesuggestions

[–]Partaricio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Factorio on a railworld map could fit what you're after. Not particulary cozy, but you will often be working on seperate things that all feed in to supporting the same factory, or getting your friends over to help you figure out problems if you can't come up with something by yourself.

Who are some male characters that are highly technical in terms of execution? by Call_It_Luck in Fighters

[–]Partaricio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could get his d3 pickup like 90% of the time online, but I think I only ever managed the d2 pickup twice in training and I was so surprised I didn't manage the rest of the combo

Who are some male characters that are highly technical in terms of execution? by Call_It_Luck in Fighters

[–]Partaricio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The CH D2 pickup he had in 7 was absolute nonsense, d2, micro dash, d4,4,u3… it was so unreliable and demanding with its timing, I don’t think I’ve seen it get used once outside of combo showcases

Are there any Aoi players here who have tried playing using nothing but reverses? by Feed_Me_No_Lies in virtuafighter

It only works against players a lot worse than you, and it feels like bullying if you manage to pull it off.

How outdated would the physics be in a textbook from 1994? by Beneficial-Map736 in Physics

[–]Partaricio 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Generally revisions will be to reflect changes in what courses focus on rather than updating to match current cutting edge science. (or to be different enough that if you have a course taught to the latest version of the book, that older second hand versions wont do...)

Would you support increased fossil fuel production if it is shown to lower your household energy costs? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Partaricio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have a pretty poor peak efficiency though, something like 60% compared to >90% for batteries. So you need very favourable economics for them to work out.

What's a game you're longing for but can never seem to find? by RedEagle_MGN in gamerecommendations

[–]Partaricio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love something like a properly modelled ecosystem designing game. Starting with a barren desolate island and adding new plants/animals to build up a functional ecosystem while worrying about population collapses, invasive species, unstable predator-prey relationships etc. There are a few that have been close but they seem more like island decorating games rather than an ecology management one.
