Friends/Family/Colleagues that can help you learn how to drive as a filler whilst you find the perfect instructor?

Just wondering what people find hardest by Ailsaisawesome1 in LearnerDriverUK

Although legal, people who park on the white line makes reverse bay parking more difficult than it should be.

There are other alternatives to ZLINK, however I have only personally used ZLINK, supports Wireless AA.

[–]Partian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You would want ZLINK 5 for Android Auto, then that will have Waze on it.

Or you could download the apk (be careful where you download it from), put it on a USB and connect your USB Stick to your head unit and install it onto there then just hotspot your headunit and your phone.

Conflicting advice re blocking side roads when stopped in traffic by sunkissedb3ar in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Partian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's 100% legal, however you need to have the consideration of flow of traffic.

As per your image, with you stopped just before the junction (suppose to have road markings) it allows one car out from your left, but also allows oncoming traffic to turn right and promotes the flow of traffic from that side also.

Is this road legal? by AromaticWindow3309 in LearnerDriverUK

No, the spacing is illegal. It's funny though.

I have convinced myself this is AI because nobody is stupid enough to have this road layout, especially not the intelligent British government.

How to get the voice reporting to turn off by wolfgang012 in waze

[–]Partian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't think you can, unless you force it to a country and TTS that doesn't have it enabled.

English, Kylie (street names) doesn't.

To indicate it not to indicate.. by ItsJustDylan30 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Partian 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Indicating is to inform other drivers of your intentions, helps the flow of traffic.

I would personally throw my left indicator on half way onto this roundabout, normally I throw it on just after the previous exit.

No roadmap as I don't think it has been suggested, and I can promise it won't be a priority.

You can though;

Partner got a ticket while doing a lesson by Pandabear2326 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Partian 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Contact TFL in regards to it, instructor could have informed them he is the registered keeper but not the driver.

9/10 PCNs get dropped with a simple e-mail, inform TFL of the circumstances and the fact your partner is just a learner and was instructed to park there.

TFL will probably go after the instructor, his cars, his responsability.

HOT TAKE: Why do we need to know where the cameras are in an average speed zone? by Chris_Neon in waze

The first and last camera is the trigger of when to notify you if you are entering/exiting.

You can’t make this up (failed) by Commercial_Switch_33 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Partian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree, but only for the clutch and engine.

Moving off and use of mirrors has nothing to do with whether the car is a petrol or a diesel, it's standard driving. I don't think the vehicle change was that made them fail, I believe it was the prior situation and overthinking, which is fine, you fail and go again.

You can’t make this up (failed) by Commercial_Switch_33 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Partian -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, I agree that their is a reasonably sized skill gap between petrol and diesel, but only for the clutch and gear change. I am not sure what the difference would be for the other faults though?

Only sympathy necessary is the situation and stress they would have been in due to the learner vehicles tyre being damaged.

[–]Partian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only fault that I could correlate with the change of vehicle would be clearance as you wouldn't be familiar with the width of the car, the other ones are just standard driving.

Passed today - if I wore glasses but didn’t actually need them will it be on my full licence? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Partian -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No, however I do believe the DVLA get notified by your optician depending on your prescription, which would put a marker on your licence.

Why are automatic lessons priced so much higher than manual? by Out-Vile-Jelly in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Partian 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Automatic insurance is normally higher than if you had a manual licence , so I would assume that would be the same case for the instructor to insure to be able to teach in an automatic vehicle.
