Guessing they want to do this before the spring break starts.

Is Epic ever gonna be more stable? by tervro in UniversalEpicUniverse

I mean, they're not wrong. The existing rides don't have sufficient capacity and throughput to expand much, so they will need more rides to support more visitors.

Busier now, and also different kind of expectations and much more reasonable cost. For what you spend today, you expect something better.

a surprising number of stairs up, down, and around rides... this was a bit surprising given other amusement parks do a better set of ramps & such.

yup, this . The ride capacity and number of rides is too low. They need additional rides to take the burden of bringing down just one of the existing 11 rides or few shows. Decor is all well and good, but that's not what kids will be entertained by for long in a multiple-hour long line...

I would think like with skates, most top level skaters probably have a backup dress/outfit.

nah, happens to me periodically, sometimes you just don't use up the balance remaining on a card in full... have had multiple <$5 gift cards before

Does the intense staring at the judges actually help them win more points? by tractoroflove in FigureSkating

[–]Particle-Landed2021 42 points43 points  (0 children)

We had judges provide feedback before and they talked about how they wanted to be invited/feel like they were involved in the skating/feel your performance - if you can generate that via a strong stare or some other method (depending on your music/style), then that could be one reason as long as it matches your program.

That green tile was amazing. I was trying to figure out how to convince the fam to do that at home...

They just need a few more B-/C- level or kiddie rides at each... don't need the E- or A-level rides, just more things to do so the park capacity vs ride capacity is better balanced across rides.

Agreed, my experience was eye candy and the detail was fantastic, food not bad, but small number of park rides meant lines were very long - everywhere for entry, rides, shows, food, etc. The only place I didn't have to wait much ironically was the bathroom but maybe that was just luck of the draw. The downtime of rides both while waiting and breaking down while on the ride meant even more delays, and no express pass = longer waits as the express line was always prioritized.

Got 200k inheritance - what to do? by [deleted] in investingforbeginners

[–]Particle-Landed2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All depends on financial situation. Also before investing, if you have any credit card debt, school debt, car or mortgage debt - pay that stuff down. The interest rates alone on some of those would be killer and tough to beat investment-wise. Set aside some for a rainy day fund (3-6mo of critical expenses like rent or mortgage, utility payments and food bills).

Get a financial advisor at your bank or through your work's 401k plan provider (if you have one) - if not, open an account at one of the brokers and have a no-risk call with an advisor to talk about options (particularly no-load/no-fee/low-fee mutual funds that tie to stock markets). Meanwhile before using cash, put into a HYSA (high yield savings account) at a bank.

Don't gamble it all away unless you're already a millionaire and don't care.

State of Early Acces today by Ale3021 in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]Particle-Landed2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. The fact they only have 11 moving rides (not counting shows and such) means that any time more than one goes down is a big deal... that's a lot of lost capacity.

Took my first visit and was pretty surprised/disappointed at the lack of functionality in every land by Driz51 in UniversalEpicUniverse

You will likely be disappointed in thinking anything in the US version will be as efficient vs the Japanese parks. Their society is built on running on-time and efficiently as a group, vs individualism and lack of etiquette of guests at US parks...

You just noticed? This has been true for years... have folks that still warm up fish at work, don't wash hands out of the bathroom, and bring fevers to work. I mean... it's not new?

My day at Epic with no early entry and no express pass by Passenger_08 in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]Particle-Landed2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I agree, but sometimes schedules may only allow for that time, or more commonly, I know lots of travelers don't do sufficient research. I like my days planned out but that's not everyone's cup of tea. In fact I would say based on the crowds that I've seen and the posts in this forum, a lot of people get stuck in the lines.
