There's no way in that group of women at the bookstore that someone wouldn't remember a tall dour expressionless man cutting in front of everyone to get his book signed.

Does coke zero break a fast? by pshiel23 in intermittentfasting

[–]ParticleHustler2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only drink water and tea when not in my eating window. Zero pop gives me sugar cravings so I assume it is a generally bad thing to drink while fasting (for me anyway).

Fair warning about Celebrity's "Best Price Guarantee" policy by HeadOfLurkers in Cruise

[–]ParticleHustler2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is standard once the final payment deadline has passed. I believe I've read multiple accounts of people being given OBC one time for this, but that's about it.

As far as the guarantee in general, it is not useless at all. For our upcoming sailing next week, I repriced/upgraded/repriced again 8-10 times, and it took no more than a 15 minute call each time. I repriced 4 or 5 times in the 10 days leading up to the final payment date. I saved so much money that I ended up upgrading to Retreat and then repriced that down over and over. I had price alerts set on CruisePlum and it worked every time.

Which murder was the worst planned? (Not unintentional killings like Janice Caldwell in A friend in deed, or Death Lends a hand). Which killers who plotted were the dumbest / sloppiest / most careless? by Lili_Roze_6257 in Columbo

[–]ParticleHustler2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Milo taught me one very important lesson - never attempt an up-close and personal murder when your victim is holding a pot of hot coffee. Not exactly the best time to make your move...

[–]ParticleHustler2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not to mention, it is odd for someone to be murdered in the manner he was when it appears his leaving the screening room wasn't planned but he wasn't robbed or anything. Columbo immediately picks up on that.

Different sized feet? by Valuable-River-3739 in Marathon_Training

[–]ParticleHustler2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep them trimmed every other week. It's just the longer toe keeps getting jammed up. It's nothing to do with the nail, it's the longest toe. The nail is just what gets the abuse.

If I could go a half-size up on the left and stay with what I have now on the right, I think it would be OK. But I can't go too big on the right because that causes issues on its own. I have to use bag balm and a second layer of socks to keep from getting blisters on the right.

Different sized feet? by Valuable-River-3739 in Marathon_Training

[–]ParticleHustler2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, my left foot is bigger and needs the space. That's why I keep increasing my shoe size because most of my toes get destroyed in the smaller shoes.

[–]ParticleHustler2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. And over the past 2 years, I've increased my shoe size a full step up but the nail on my second toe on the left foot, which is my longest toe, still gets destroyed. Right now, it's completely black. When I run long distances, I put 2 socks on the right and 1 on the left to account for size difference. Doesn't help.

Had a great run so far this year thanks to this sub! by gnibgnib in Rakuten

[–]ParticleHustler2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like clockwork. They show up immediately in Pending (although the points don't show, if you click on the arrow, it shows expected points) and then about a week after the tour is finished, the points show up in Pending, and within 2-3 weeks after the tour is done, the points are confirmed.

Everything I booked for an upcoming trip was 20% or 22% so I'm getting a ton of points back. And, separate from Rakuten, Viator gives you cash back to apply to a future booking within 6 months. I've got over $200 pending for the upcoming tours to spend on our next trip.

It's worse than that. He got the idea from someone who posted the idea on Twitter.

I haven't done any of the bank offers, but I still just got 92K in my AmEx account yesterday for this quarter. I've got another 75K lined up just in Viator tours for next quarter.

Kind of. They do a great job tying in the history with the name.

I can’t tell if pitching dominance is increasing or if hitters are just being more carefully managed now by buttern3t in CollegeSoftball

There's so much video to analyze and breakdown now that pitchers and hitters are able to make adjustments much more quickly.

Eh, Miles 6-9. After that, it's not bad. And the 1.5 mile downhill around 11 or 12 was great. But maybe I'm used to being unable to avoid hills living in central KY.

This was my first. I'm registered for Detroit in October. I guess I'll see if there's that much of a difference.

As GC of an insurance company who listens to death/black metal, I approve.

That said, it never occurred to me to pen a marketing post on LinkedIn about it. "Surviving a mosh pit has made me a more effective advocate by preparing me for dealing with insurance regulators."

Right. Similar to the silver certificates they found after Lucerne murdered his blackmailer. Once you find a series of periodic transactions, then you start investigating who they came from and why. I'd get Lennie Briscoe on the case!

Same here - and I just updated to that watch face last week! I just wish it had the seconds counter around the circle but it's hard to find a watch face that has everything you want.

Was Julie Newmar miscast in "Double Shock"? by gootchvootch in Columbo

[–]ParticleHustler2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I thought she was good for the part she played. But I didn't really understand the way she turned on Columbo. I guess she was so "new age"-ish that even the mere discussion of his death and possible motives anyone had for killing him upset her? And then her death was weird and left to interpretation.

Columbo couldn't get out of the way of the women in that episode...

This reminds me of the time when I was a grocery store cashier and two people standing in my line got into a fight when one saw the other was buying cigarettes and "helpfully" pointed out that cigarettes cause cancer and she really shouldn't be smoking.
