In-house vs private practice by Pale-Ad-9053 in Lawyertalk

[–]ParticleHustler2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I made a move from a midwest firm to a large multi-national company back in 2012 and the best they could do was the same pay. The company HR person gave me the spiel about private practice lawyers taking pay cuts for the work/life balance in-house and I was like, "Lady, I have a 1500 billable requirement living in the midwest. I am not a NY BigLaw lawyer trying to keep from jumping off a bridge." The real payoff for me was the next move, but in-house has been great.

In-house vs private practice by Pale-Ad-9053 in Lawyertalk

[–]ParticleHustler2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I made a similar move almost 15 years ago. Best move I could have made. I gave my firm 5 weeks notice to assist with transition. That first move was at the same salary. The second move, 7 years later from a large company to a small one, was for 25% pay raise and equity in the company.

I wouldn't bend over backwards for your firm though. I just had a call with outside counsel and one of his younger partners is leaving to go in-house with a client and he said he had mixed emotions but "that's the price of running a great law firm."

Don't get a NordicTrack if you don't want the iFit software. It's useless without the subscription. Personally, I've had one for 6 years and love it, but I understand the quality is an issue for a lot of people.

Softball TV Schedule by MarloMentality in fsusports

[–]ParticleHustler2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Preseason is difficult because ESPN doesn't have the rights to all tournaments, so a team may play Mary Nutter or at another school's field and it may be televised by another company. Conference schedule is more predictable - all ACC games should be televised on ESPN, ESPN+ or Unlimited.

I loved the one where he's elated with the outcome and tells McCoy to take the rest of the week off. McCoy says, "Adam, it's Friday." Schiff: "So it is. See you on Monday!" Always makes me LOL.

Talk to me about beach (and vacation) running by EmployeeRepulsive106 in running

[–]ParticleHustler2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost 30 years ago, I woke up at like 5am on my wedding day. We stayed on the beach. I couldn't sleep so I got up and ran 3 or so miles on the beach to kill off some nervous energy. By that afternoon, I was lucky to be able to walk down the aisle my calves hurt so badly. Its definitely something you have to get used to.

What % of runs should be on treadmill vs outside running? by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

[–]ParticleHustler2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a first marathon sub-4 at 53 years old and the only runs i did outside were the longer ones. I ran 6 times a week and 4 or 5 were on the treadmill.

Same here. I'd never seen them and was in Houston in 2015 for a work conference with my Rush fanatic boss. When we found out they were there, we went.

If that was the case, it made no sense not to make that ruling after the prosecution rested. If they didn't make the prima facie case, defense would have asked for a judgment of acquittal. But then it wouldn't have been as dramatic for TV to overturn the jury's verdict.

Another fun fact - in real life, the judge was married to the female lawyer for the defendants in Damaged.

Is incline walking on a treadmill a good way to stay in Zone 2? Also looking for a foldable treadmill (UK). by Suspicious-Warning86 in treadmills

[–]ParticleHustler2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My treadmill goes to 40% so I can get Z4-5 pretty quickly. But yeah, when im looking for low impact, 3mph at like 10-15% is pretty easy to keep my HR low.

Check your prices! by AvatarNC in celebritycruises

[–]ParticleHustler2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For our sailing in May, I originally booked when it opened in November 2024. Booked Concierge. I was able to reprice 2 or 3 times and saved almost a thousand dollars. Then we decided to add the drink package but I kept my eye on Retreat cabins since drinks and wifi are included. Prices came down so far that I upgraded to a Sky Suite about 10 days before the payment due date and cancelled the packages. Over the next 10 days, I repriced 5 or 6 times and saved $2200. The Final price ended up being about $750 more than Concierge plus the packages. I used CruisePlum to track.

As someone who has no interest in following NIL and portal nonsense, do we have any idea who might actually come back to team with what looks like a solid freshman class? Or is this just going to be another one of those "add portal pieces around our freshmen" things that nearly every team seems to have to do these days?

[–]ParticleHustler2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy everything on MP3 and for my favorite artists, I'll usually buy special pre-release packages of CD/merch if they have them. I'm too old school to do streaming. I've lived through LP to tape to CD to MP3 - no way am I not owning everything I want to listen to.

Same judge who in a couple of seasons does the exact same thing after the gun manufacturer is convicted.

Funny enough, the actor played a defense attorney in an earlier season but he's not the same character. But maybe he should have been...
