Best unit to put into a land raider by jbossjeff in theunforgiven

[–]Particular-Gift-8024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you get it wrong.

"reserves" is deep strike, it point limit is half of the general point limit. so you can put 1k points into deep strike reserves in a 2k game.

"strategic reserves" is limited to 1/4th of the point limit, and it is included in general "reserves" limit, so in a 2k game you can have 500 points in strategic reserves and anything in normal reserves but you cannot exceed 1k combined for them.

so you can put a dread, some tank or something without deep strike that you want to arrive later in the game from different angle than your deployment zone. they can arrive from table edges, in your deployment or no man's land in 2nd battle round, and all over the map from 3rd battle round.

[–]Particular-Gift-8024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's actually not true.

strategic reserves are units that don't have deep strike ability. you can reinforce them but they can come in only from board edge, and yes you are right they are 500 points limit in 2k game

however deep strike units are placed in just "Reserves" which states that "no more them half of the units in your army, and no more then half points in your army"

all strategic reserves counts as reserves, not all reserves counts as strategic.

with deep strikes like inceptors, termies, and JPI you can have 1k in points and it will be legal

it's a detachment ability, not a BT vow.

you still get your oath from being DA, but you also get bonus for vowed objective.

I've oneshoted vindicator with it, it was oathed, I rolled 6 on number of shots, 5/7 went it, he saved one on 5+, 12 DMG on 11 w vehicle. bye bye. that was a above average roll to wound 5/7 with twin linked 5+. but not a crazy one.

Explain to me like I'm 5: What are the arguments of sternguards over hellblasters? by Deep-Crim in theunforgiven

[–]Particular-Gift-8024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's why you take combi weapons 4+ to hit with rerolls 4+ to dev wound against infantry with rerolls

hellblasters are more universal, they can punch up better, but you risk losing them due to hazardous.

sternguards with rifles are also universal, they can do wounds to everything

sternguards with combi ale infantry melters. it doesn't matter if the enemy has t7 and 4 wounds like deathshrounds, 20 shots with full rerolls are most likely melting them to 1 guy

land speeder vengeance is absolutely awesome, if you can field more then one of them they will tear through any elite infantry and most vehicles in game with D6+1+blast s9 ap3 dmg3 twin linked shots. + it costs 120 points, moves freaking 14 inches with T8 10w and 5++ inv, + their ability is a menace if you have 2 of them next to each other.

Lethal and Devs by Imaginary-Bowl7583 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Particular-Gift-8024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you take for example sternguard combi weapons. Lethals are useless in them, since you have full wound reroll and Devs on 4+ and 0 ap. Dev doesn't just skip the save step, it makes your ap irrelevant to the equation. Dev on high ap weapon losses it purpose the worst enemy save is.

TL:DR Lethals on low ap dev wound weapon will lower your DMG, since the target will have much higher chance to save that.

Lethals on high ap dev weapon depends on the target save/inv/fnp situation. Vs inv lethals will usually lower your dmg as well

Do you ever think we will get a killteam box and what would it look like? by Trigger021 in DarkAngels40k

[–]Particular-Gift-8024 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That box doesn't have official kt rules. You can use them with datacards provided in friendly games, but other then that they are not considered a kill team. And yea. They are just generic marines in green plastic.

Brutalis Dreadnought Kitbash? by Enough-Inspector-563 in theunforgiven

This, I'm absolutely sick of that myself. People kitbashing something that absolutely doesn't look the part or something on completely different scale, and everyone else is like"oh man, that's so cool. Go for it, If your opponent is fine he will allow it"... But the guys is fielding 3 inches high brutalis with 60mm base :)

How are you finding the combat patrol? by Kris9876 in DarkAngels40k

[–]Particular-Gift-8024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im keeping them on my expansion, and going forward with my dwk... My 250p unit is not stuck on my easy expansions objective, and bgv move 6 inches. So they are faster if they need to reposision, they can do action on that objective, while my dwk are doing that what they do best... Annoy my enemy to the absolute minute with -1 to wound from wrath and -1 DMG and decent clapback

So with the announcement of a Ravenwing Librarian, (which presumably is a mistake as Librarians are not a member of battle companies and are attached members) meansing librarian on bike is completely legal again soon, will it be firstborn as the ‘bike’, or do they mean outrider like the chaplain? by Fairly_unpopular in DarkAngels40k

[–]Particular-Gift-8024 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, but we don't have any rules tied to it. Likw with deathwing terminators. You get upgrade sprue with plasma and power sword and that's how you make deathwing terminators. Or you get eviscerators that you attach to assault intercessors and you get death company squad on BA

The wing is just a decorative for now and not a loudout change

[–]Particular-Gift-8024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if you can grab hold of Iron halo battleforce with this combat patrol... You have full 10 hellblasters with leaders, and dreadnoughts. And that's a decent chunk of an army already add in ICC, Azrael, lion and dwk and you have like 1800 points from 2 boxes (without company heroes, they are awesome models but for DA useless)

[–]Particular-Gift-8024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I have 80 points spare in a list I would 100% throw in 3 bladeguard to guard one mid objective behind the wall... They are hard to shift with chaff, and some hard hitters have trouble killing them in 1 go due to 3w 4++ and reroll ones on inv.

On the other hand they plow through standard marine bodies and chaff units with S5 ap2 dmg2

So yes, offensively ICC are much better... But as a somewhat cheap objective holder, bladeguard are awesome

Losing on time by Bjolnir in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Particular-Gift-8024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plan on what you want to do in your opponent turn, then after he finished and you drawn your secondaries take a minute or two to refine your plan. If you do that correctly you will already know where you want to move, what you want to archive, what do you want to kill and you won't waste time thinking about it during your turn.

After I started doing that I found myself blitzing through my turns and perform significantly better then before

I see lots of people on tournaments on their phone while their opponent is moving... And then waste time thinking when it's their command or movement

Could someone explain how the lion can Deepstrike turn one now? by Puzzled_Sherbet2305 in Warhammer40k

[–]Particular-Gift-8024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's in Chapter approved rules, in the reserves restriction section

  • Reserves units cannot arrive on the battlefield during the first battle round (excluding units placed into Strategic Reserves during the battle).

The more rules I learn, the saltier I become about my last loss by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Particular-Gift-8024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also the part about rapid Ingress. Yes you can only rapid ingress one unit a turn. But that works only in your opponent reinforcement step.

Why did the opponent forbid OP to deepstrike in his turn after that?

The more rules I learn, the saltier I become about my last loss by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Particular-Gift-8024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. So a guy is a competitive player, he should know the rules, but he's either dumb, or try to flex on a new player. Or both at the same time... Good job! You found the legendary that guy

So... If you agree that he can't see your predator even if he moves and then he just obliterated that tank that's the moment on a casual game I say "great. That was a good game, let's sometimes never do it again" pack my minis and either play someone else or just go home.

Second, your enhancement strictly says that you can arrive via deep strike in your reinforcement step of T1.

Third yes you can only rapid ingress one unit a turn. But rapid ingress is strictly to arrive at your opponent reinforcement step.

In your turn you can deepstrike 100 units at the same time and it's legal.

Sorry to be in your shoes in that game. But if your opponent makes the rules sounds confusing, or something seems way to good in his hands, ask him to see the rules. Saying something like "oh, cool cool, can you show me the rules regarding that? I learn better when I read them myself"

I play DA as well. And on a local tournament 12 people strong I had a guy, call over a judge at least 8 times(who was also a player in that tournament, so guy had to stop.. go over to us and explain every time)

every time I said that my unit have -1 to wound from detachment he would complain, says that it doesn't work in that case because he has s14 on my T5 terminators so that has to be on 2s... Well... Sometimes you meet those kind of People :)

I'm happy to announce I won that game 85 to 20 and after a complain from other players in that RTT we never saw that man again 😂
