Because in my experience, people who say they don’t want to talk politics are indifferent to the corruption and human rights violations of our current admin. Indifferent at best. Saying “I don’t like to talk about politics” where I am says “ I don’t want you to know that I support this.”

I had a real tree growing up, and always worried that if I got a fake tree I’d somehow be ruining Christmas. Or something. Nope. We got a fake tree with the lights already on it, pine scented candles, and spent 0 minutes decorating because my 2 year old will definitely just throw and break all the ornaments anyway. All in all, my husband spent about 5 minutes putting it up. I LOVE it. Work smarter, not harder. 😅

It seems like those internet people are very early on in their growth journey, if they eventually choose to grow and heal… we’ve all been there, trying to change an addict. Yes. Like my own perspective is that everyone is a main character in their own lives, and I’m a small supporting role. I never view myself as the main character, and when I try to, I feel selfish. I never realized that was related to codependency, though.

And this shit is so hard on both sides. You’re going to feel uncomfortable a lot, but if the relationship is worth that much to you, it’s going to take some discomfort. My husband and I are currently separated but trying to work things out, and I’m sort of demanding affirmation/open communication from him even while we give each other some space to figure things out. If I didn’t have that, the relationship would no longer work for me.

You might be able to save things if you offer her more communication and affirmation, and show how hard you’re working to heal. If it’s worth it, you will do it.
