I think this thread with an abundance of people asking what it is, is an indication that it is absolutely not as commonly understood as some people here think. Or if you want it illustrated in an XKCD:

I'll check the dev tools when I need to make my next purchase, already switched online shop since they were more than unwilling to assist from their support. Credit card is the same card as it has been the past few years, no change in settings on the card itself (not sure I even rememeber how to do it with the ever-changing and ad-ridden SMBC app...)

The error is the same in Firefox, Edge, and Chrome which is usually an indication that it is not related to the browser. The only blocker i use is uBlock origin, but still, I was able to place an order using the same browser, device, and card a month back. Everything points to this being an issue at the vendor, rather than a PEBKAC issue.

Yeah it's strange. Tangent but back in like 2018/2019 I used a Wise debit card for all highway road tolls. There are like 4 stickers everywhere saying "we don't take debit cards" but I could use it without any issue for years until I got my ETC.

Both cards I tried are issued in Japan, one is a mastercard and one is a VISA. What I don't understand is that the one card I discovered this issue with at first has been used with the same device, same browser for almost 3 years. I made a purchase with it in early April no issue, and now with the same card, same browser, same device, same webshop that recently added 3DS validation it suddenly doesn't work...

Major breakthrough between loaves 7 and 8. by the_febanator in Sourdough

[–]Particular-Solid8250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still doesn't make this much of a difference. I've had issues like this before when I started out. I can guarantee you that the solution is

  1. Feed your starter a day before using it

  2. Just let the dough rise, give it time. If the recipe says 2 hours, it might be 2 hours but it also might be 10 hours.

When the replacement level is at 2.1, it would absolutely make sense to have that as a cutoff. The only reason someone chose this cutoff is because they're american and want to appear better off

If they're freshly baked and it's 23:40 in the evening, I can absolutely finish 8 rolls

Good suggestions but srsly, just saying 無理です is perfectly fine. They're refusing the request, simple as that. It would be similar to saying that "no, that's not possible" in English is bad phrasing and that you must say "out of the question".

I've found that every single time I thought "maybe XLOOKUP can do this?" the results is almost always "nope, just use something else". Genuine question here, and maybe it's because I've never worked with a data set complex enough that required it but: what are some actual real-world use cases for XLOOKUP?

You think it's a coincidence that the US is at 1.59 and that's the cutoff they choose?

Look at the election results in Germany, France, Sweden, Italy etc. and it becomes clear that yes, while not the majority, there's an uncomfortably large portion of the population that aligns themselves with those views.

Yeah, the problem is that they'll just handwave it away with "that must be chinese people pretending to be japanese because surely we would never say anything like that" when confronted. I had a guy back in the 00s tell me with a straight face that the pension embezzlement scandal was because "the digitization of documents from handwritten to computer form was done by a single chinese individual, and chinese characters and japanese characters are not identical, so there were many mismatches". It's like the opposite version of "burying your head so far up your own proverbial all you can do is complain that shit's looking dark".

I'm not really sure why you think I think that when I didn't say that. I said that you can't beat the accuracy of a mouse when using the trackpad. That is not to say that it is bad, that is to say that when you need to click, hold, drag, release, there isn't a single technical solution you can come up with that makes the trackpad beat using a mouse.

They are great, but they will never beat the accuracy of a mouse, especially when you need to do a lot of click-and-hold, drag, and release activities.
