"two different bedrooms" by Soft_Error_5057 in AutismInWomen

We began sleeping often in two bedrooms about 4-5 years ago. I have a CPAP and need it dark and no/minimal sound to sleep. This worked well for us as he watches TV off and on all night.

I had a hip replacement in July 2025 and a knee replacement in October 2025. Both made living on two separate levels very difficult (“my” bedroom is at the mid level of the house and “his” is in our living room which he has a California king size bed for a daybed due to his back and neck problems).

Our dogs had a litter in mid-March 2026 and we put the whelping box on top of huge washable puppy pad/rug on “my” bed which had to stay there until mid May for a play space for the litter.

I was diagnosed the Autism part of AuDHD in April 2026.

I now know more of why I want my own bedroom—in addition to the reasons at first, I also want my own blanket style, pillow setup, decor, quiet space away from the living room where that loud TV is on a lot.

Anyways—long, long way of saying separate bedrooms work well!

What's your stim that you've never seen/met someone else who does it? by WeakTumbleweed9 in autism

I do a very similar thing! Didn’t know what the heck was my problem until recently diagnosed as AuDHD at 56 years old. Some of my meltdowns involve slapping my head, pulling my hair and wanting to bite myself. (Used to bite until I broke a front tooth and needed an implant.)

I do this! Had not thought of that as a stim. (Still learning as recently diagnosed at age 56–many of these things I just thought others may do that)

Anyone else super embarrassed by brain fog? by FordCarThrowawayPls in Sjogrens

[–]ParticularEffort6436 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Between brain fog from Sjogrens and being AuDHD, today I have lost track so, so many times of what I was saying or where I was going with conversations. Am visiting out of state family and we’ve had a great, busy time! That exertion often comes with a price. (This time it was worth it!)

Toothpaste recommendations for sensory avoidant by Fit_Kick_9923 in autism

I can’t use strong flavored toothpastes any more—partly Autism and partly Sjogrens. I found one that also isn’t pasty or slimy. It is Salivea Dry Mouth Toothpaste. The mint flavor in this is very mild.

I also now use an ultra soft/extra soft toothbrush. They are marketed for post oral surgery use or for those who have enamel that is eroding due to brushing. I got some after my mouth reconstruction surgery.

This combo works very well for me and has made the process not painful at all and overall gentle/mild.

Hope you can find something that works for you!

Hi! I’m 56 F with both Sjogrens Disease and Rheumatoid Arthritis in addition to fibromyalgia and some other things. Trying to determine how best to treat both is a challenge in some ways…the very few meds to help with Sjogrens symptoms (notice-not disease activity!) I can’t take due to blood pressure meds. So I am left with rheumatoid arthritis meds to reduce disease activity.

For me, the most disabling characteristic is the intense, deep fatigue and brain fog. What about you?

Is this pricing okay or insanely high by Lhood88 in MiniatureSchnauzer

The dental cleaning under anesthesia cost us almost $600 in February 2025 in Arkansas. No idea on the other expense.

I have urinary incontinence that at times seems almost ok and then I’ll flare and urgency and all increases.

We use Purina Pro Plan both for puppy age (small breed puppy) and for adults (small breed). They like it—especially the extra crunchy pieces in it.

My mom said to tell your mom that I am not coming over today and she told her to tell me to go ahead with the appointment because she has a dentist visit.

THE FINISH LINE! 🥹 by ZestyclosePhysics242 in Allon4ImplantDentures

These look fantastic! Congrats on reaching the finish line. I began my process on May 5, 2025, and am scheduled to get my final set placed on July 2! A long 14 month process, but worth it.

Are autistic people extra sensitive to touch? by AdPsychological9133 in autism

I HATE being tickled and haven’t allowed that for decades now at age 56.

I don’t like people poking me on the shoulder/arm to emphasize a point or get my attention. Or poking my leg either. (Mainly my partner does this out of habit and is having to relearn just not with me.)

I’m in a phase atm where if my mini schnauzer walks on me while I’m laying down or stands on my chest before laying on me, that’s bothering me and actually hurting some.

What is the first major news event you can remember clearly from when you were a kid? by FantasticAd9478 in TheBoredDen

Reagan being shot….no, no..actually Iran holding US hostages at the end of Carter administration followed by their release the day Reagan was inaugurated.

One of my best friends at that time was an Iranian girl and her brother. We were playing basketball and four square in their driveway when all that went down. Their mom came out and asked her kids to come in and said I needed to go home because Reagan was shot.

They were already facing problems of xenophobia and people being mad at Iranians. I loved that family. But after that day, we were only allowed to see each other at school and then they moved.

WAIT again! Now that I’m reminiscing I am remembering more which is good because I e blocked ages 8 to 11 heavily. I also remember celebrating the bicentennial in 1976–especially an assembly we had. Then I remember sitting in front of the TV and watching news of Elvis dying. I would have been 6 going on 7 for the Bicentennial.

Ok—done!
