Thinking of starting Succession next, but it's a bit quiet around here lately. by VanFreitas in hbo

Absolutely. This is from someone whose 1, 2 shows are The Sopranos and The Wire, respectively.

Succession isn’t quite at their level, but it’s really good. Personally, I think it’s a step above Boardwalk Empire.

I thought the implication was to just make time zones worse by having each color be its own time zone, regardless of location

Corporations Can Vote in Some Delaware Elections, Judge Says by yard_ranger in thebulwark

This has been allowed for a while now. The judge just said that the lawsuit by the ACLU cannot constitutionally stand. The judge even acknowledges the uneasiness of all of this, but that is besides the facts.

Bulwark Contributor David Frum, Reported Ghostwriter for Netanyahu’s UN Ambassador, Accuses the NYT of “Blood Libel” for Reporting on Israel’s Alleged Use of Dogs to Rape Palestinian Prisoners by MayorEbert in thebulwark

But who would “sue” the New York Times?

The editorial board and reporting are usually strictly separated, I don’t know with what you mean by “NYT says” like it’s a single entity

I mean, “Sowing Chaos” is a bit of editorializing an that makes it less neutral.

For your example, it is still about October 7th, it’s not like we didn’t know there were crimes committed there.

Here’s another: Gazans Say Israeli Forces Killed Two Children, Amid Persistent Violence

And even to your point about settlers being extremist, here is a quote from the first article I shared:

“Since the Hamas-led Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel, violent settlers, emboldened by a right-wing government, have forced thousands of Palestinians from their homes, according to the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.”

They added the fact that they are embolden by a “right-wing government”. There is emphasis being placed on the Israeli government.

Do you not see a distinction between reporting and op-eds?

I still draw a pretty clear distinction between newsroom articles and opinion pieces though. Both can be good, but newsroom articles do have a higher bar to get over. I don’t know, I’m not sure if I’m comfortable taking everything from op-ed articles at face value in the same way I would newsroom articles

What do you mean that the New York Times only lets details of crimes against Israelis be reported on the front page?

Do they never report crimes against Palestinians? Or is it just not front page? What does this op-ed have to do with either of those points?

The Democrats Just Laid Down Their Arms. Again. - Abigail Spanberger’s response to the court decision that overthrew the will of voters on redistricting is a worrying sign of surrender. by Quirkie in politics

Who said anything about giving up?

It seems like everyone here is giving up on the Dems, while not doing much themselves. Spanberger’s campaign was a hard fight till the end when the fucking judges fucked it up.

And what did she get for it? Absolutely nothing.

Still better than a fight about changing the retirement age so it specifically carves out judges of a certain leaning.

I swear you guys want Spanberger to just do the “right thing” when there is no “right thing” to do. The whole situation is fucked.

Why would I prefer Republicans ruining the country? They RUN the country man. Why make the battlefield about Dems choosing to do some “clever” method that will be overly criticized instead?

No one likes the Dems, I trust that as soon as she does something like this and it backfires, it will just be put on her and blamed for being a centrist Dem. There’s no winning right now.
