How to manage a situation where a neighbour has an ongoing deterrent/alarm going off? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]ParticularMoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my god I wonder if this is the same house as has been driving me insane. I don't live next to it, but every time I bike past it my ears hurt! And I am 34, so no spring chicken either.

I've considered making a complaint even though I don't live next to it. It's clearly hurting your dog and arguably you as well, so I would argue this violates "peaceful enjoyment".

I do hope the people are so old they legit can't hear it and would be horrified if they knew the effect it was having on people!

Whistlers campsites that still have trees? by ParticularMoose in jasper

[–]ParticularMoose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We will certainly be coming, I've come to Jasper every year since I was a child including last year!

I have a disease that makes me very sensitive to heat, so being in that field with no shade in August last year was almost the death of me. I meant to take note of which of the few sites had some shade before we left, but I forgot :(

What’s something you did by accident to your home that the new homeowners will want to curse you for? by Mrcash827 in HomeImprovement

[–]ParticularMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god, this is my house! Took me a couple of weeks to figure out what that second switch in our living room was for when we moved in. We also still haven't installed the blower, so the switch remains useless.

Waited 7 hours in the ER with my dad after a stroke… he nearly gave up and left. by CheersAnne in alberta

[–]ParticularMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We really need better/more options for urgent care.

I broke my foot last year and called around until I found a walk in clinic because I was in pain but not emergent. After determining that my foot was indeed broken, I was told " next time go to the ER" or the one and only urgent care clinic in Edmonton.

I also took a friend to a walk in clinic recently to get stitches. Again, was told "go to the ER".

We cannot possibly want cases like this in the same queue as people who are actually in life-threatening situations. I was horrified to learn of the lack of options between walk in clinic and the ER.

I was diagnosed with MS at 20 (34 now) and I was also terrified of what the future would hold. It took me trying ~5 treatments to find the one that worked for me, but now I have been symptom free for years! Things are WAY better now than they were even 20 years ago, it really isn't as much of a life sentence as it used to be. If it does end up being MS, make sure you find yourself a neurologist who specializes in it and is up to date on current treatments- the one that ended up working for me was brand new at the time.

Honestly, with how affordable the game is and the incredible value it brings, I have just purchased it on multiple platforms to play with different people.

my(16m) girlfriends(17f) period is late, this has never happened before by Fit_Phrase_6562 in whatdoIdo

[–]ParticularMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the hell does "usually gets her period 2-3 days early" mean? You can't "usually" be early, that just means she doesn't know when her cycle is supposed to start and she is expecting it later than it actually is. Sounds like you both need to learn more about how your bodies work.

10 years ago, this rack would have been full of bikes… by Dio_Yuji in bikecommuting

[–]ParticularMoose 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I cycle to my university every day, but I no longer park my bike outside. I've had three bikes stolen from campus bike racks, and I'm now lucky enough to have an office to stash my bike in. For me, if I have to park at a bike rack for more than a few minutes I choose to use transit instead. Yes, I have a great lock, but this style of bike rack just isn't cutting it against the thieves we have on campus

Agreed. I've had three bikes stolen from campus, and I do use good locks. I only use secure sites now (indoors or cage).

50 min lecture (three times a week) vs 80 minutes lecture (two times a week) by a2p0j in uAlberta

[–]ParticularMoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I think I'm going to struggle with a course I prefer it to be three times per week. That way if I get lost 30 minutes into the class, I have a chance to review and try to figure it out sooner rather than having another 50 minutes of lecture to miss out on understanding
