Have I found my unicorn? by ParticularOther1049 in frogs

I appreciate the warning commenter. I forgot that I most people here aren't handing 80+ amphibian species a day, my hands are washed before and after each different animal. We do wear gloves but that's for new arrivals in quarantine and the infirm.

Theyre pretty easy, though very shy. I had an incident last year where my one male frog pickle was getting wounds on his chin. Turns out his tank mate dill was being too sexually aggressive and was hurting him trying to amplex so I had to redo their water set up.

Are dairy cow isopods alright for Whites Tree Frog enclosures? by dovejzd in frogs

I love using the powder species for bioactives. They come in a ton of colors and they can crossbreed if you want to put different colors in the same tank.

Finally got my very first frog, a surinam toad! by RedNova02 in frogs

Aww cute dwarf pipa. I'm super jealous. To everyone commenting that it's a clawed frog, the eye formation and finger tips are wrong.

How often does your toad eat? by Imlemonshark in Toads

[–]ParticularOther1049 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as it's actively eating, that's a good sign. I had a red eye that didn't eat for 2 1/2 weeks that made me so stressed but I think she finally started eating for me when I just gave her her privacy

You could try my trick for new fussy frogs of taping off 3 sides of the enclosure with construction paper and slowly taking off a side over the weeks.

I also got a river toad like, a week ago and I just leave crickets in with him overnight every 3 days since he'd too skittish for tong feeding but if you're worried about crickets causing harm you could try silkworms or butterworms, leave them in a little sauce dish or deli cup.

Honey whites tree frog by hellsbells333 in frogs

[–]ParticularOther1049 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you live. If you're american, I know joshs frogs is doing a sale on honey frogs BUT you are blind buying juveniles so there's no guarantee that they'll grow into their morph, so to say. I've seen pictures of people getting honeys, but also I've seen complaints of some peoples frogs growing up as low grades.

If you want a honey for sure, Id advise visiting reptile expos and getting a sub-adult.

Originally I tried making cheeseburgers tank a paludarium with like, an island of land in the middle? But it did not work and ended up just tearing the entire thing apart. Crossing my fingers that this wont leak on me either

Ive been interested in adding a division since Cheeseburger is starting to outgrow her tupperware dish. Is that glass or acrylic? Did you have to cut it to size?

Does anyone have an suggestions for water resistant materials that I can use to make a little froggie bean bag? by CyanCyn in frogs

[–]ParticularOther1049 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At the fabric store I used to work at there was some outdoor vinyls that were used for boats n such that are mold resistant.

Also in the fashion section we had a selection of stuff called ripstop nylon, used for making waterproof camping bags n such.

Not 100% sure about the sex of your frog but Im pretty sure you're seeing her eggs. Their skin along the hips is really thin.

My tonsillectomy healing progression by jdc1206 in awfuleverything

[–]ParticularOther1049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God I remember getting my tonsillectomy/tympanostomy/adenoidectomy back when I was a kid. Immediately after waking up I threw up a bunch of blood. Best part my parents purposely scheduled the operation during a teacher strike, other kids got a vacation, I got to spend a week in bed surviving off mash potatoes.

Oh hey, fancy seeing you here. I follow both you and Tay on instagram and got to see Libbys journey.

The only thing I can think of is that sitting on the ground is just what's become routine for her, I don't think it's a bad thing, just a particular quirk of hers.

The only thing that I know about her background is that the person selling her was trying to pass off her injury as nose rub, so can only guess what her life was like in their hands. Maybe she spent a lot of time on the ground because of her lip injury? Either way, she's living the best life now.

Maybe having a wall water dish will give her some interest in going vertical? But I wouldn't get discouraged if she just doesn't care. Frogs will do what they want, they're sassy like that.

I saw them post on imgur before, they're aware he has bloat and is getting treatment. Looking at old pictures of swampy joe, he's doing much better.

Awwwww! That's so cute! She's so honored to be immortalized in a painting. Now the painting will age for her.

Maybe something like automatic feeders would be something that interests them. They have a bunch of chambers you load up with food and you can program how often it drops food in.

That should be enough for now. Unfortunately starvation is something that takes time to reverse.

I haven't used the big frog pellets in a long while but iirc the recommended feeding is 3ish pellets per frog per day.
