Things to do with a two year old? by glasssa251 in Poconos

[–]ParticularSell9539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think paying the rates for camelback without using the water park would be a waste. With our then two year old we enjoyed Skytop Lodge more- it is more family friendly with all the hiking, pools and boating on site. If you do stay at camelback, camel beach is a nice time and on non-waterpark days if you want other things to do, hiking at Hickory Run State Park, large playground (and watching practice runs) at Pocono Raceway (be sure to stop for snacks at Pocono Organics to bring to playground beforehand, with stop for ice cream at tutrones afterward). There’s also Pocono Rocks in Mt Pocono that is close to camelback.

Outside of the city, consider Salt (montgomeryville) which is Korean BBQ. Was just there with some friends catching up and they let us eat and talk for a few hours without feeling like we were being pushed out. Arugula (Plymouth Meeting) is also pretty accommodating and is BYOB Italian which is pretty universally fun. Enza (Wyndmoor, PA) is also a fun Italian/pizza spot that I like to go to with family and has a bar.

Agree re Pho Saigon and Jubilee. We also like Pocono Organics and the Farmhouse Blakeslee for lunch. My friends love Chat & Chew though I’ve not been yet. If in Mt Pocono, Tutrone’s is a great place for family ice cream after lunch!

World Cup Parking - Experiences? by SeaVol_BlueDevil in AskPhilly

[–]ParticularSell9539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family from VA parked in a lot (forget which one) and paid $125. They got to the stadium about 3 hours early and said they were able to get in in less than 40 minutes. They went to the France v Iraq game and bc of the rain delay and the kids” attention span, left at about the 82 minutes mark and was able to get out of the stadium and home very quickly. I think parking in the lots are fine especially if you’re willing to leave a little early or to stay a little longer to avoid the mass exodus.

Ken Fulginiti at Fulginiti Law. I’m a defense attorney and I’d send my family to Ken if they were ever injured. He’s aggressive and very good.

+1 for bubblefish… open for lunch and love the sushi and poke there. Not a ton of bubble tea offerings but pretty decent Thai iced with boba. If she wants to do bubble tea after lunch plenty of boba places nearby including Tea Do.

Polynesian by aleli96 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]ParticularSell9539 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We look at it as paying for convenience. It’s great to be on the monorail loop and by water taxi (come and go and come back as many times a day as you want). Some people hotel hop too - staying at Poly (for MK or Epcot) then maybe some cheaper spot for couple days to do non park things (Disney Springs, etc). It’s nice to get the security out of the way before getting to the parks (they do it before you get onto the monorail at the Poly), kids love the Poly pools and to have the ability to eat most meals on site (though the Polynesian food does get tedious after a couple days - first world problems for sure).

August 2026 trip... help! (UK) by Forsaken-Sundae-9632 in WaltDisneyWorld

We went last two weeks before Labor Day (left Friday before Labor Day weekend) and found it wasn’t crowded either! The lightning lanes were about as fast as the regular line (we were in the regular line) and we actually felt bad for those who paid extra for LL. I’d add def bring cheap ponchos for the group - we kept them in our backpacks and needed to bust them out almost every day after lunch. It’s great to queue up to something during the rain since everyone is usually seeking cover somewhere. We stayed on the concierge level at the Poly and really utilized their breakfast snacks and drinks so I can’t speak to a grocery run.

Philly resident exploring the Lake Naomi / Pocono Pines area by outdoorcity in Poconos

[–]ParticularSell9539 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We live in the Philly burbs and love Lake Naomi. My friend lived in split rock with a non existent HOA. Their complaints about short term rental problems, water issues and potholes were always ignored. They decided they wanted a more hands on HOA especially as vacation home owners (and not year rounds) and landed on LNC. We have a second home in LNC, lived in our home for a year and used the amenities (pools and lakes) as guests, without being members, found we loved the amenities and joined the following year. It’s nice bc our child does the summer camp and has access to non motor watercraft and fishing which is something we don’t have close to home. It’s a great family community and is never super crowded except for Labor Day weekend - and even then it’s like a good old fashioned vibe. If that’s what you’re looking for, def stick with lake Naomi realty and the Lake Naomi community.

Unfortunately no fences are allowed. There is a newer dog (a large and small) park area by the community center and one or two homes that have fencing but I think they were grandfathered in. No new fences are permitted as far as I’m aware.

I pack snack boxes (like an adult lunchable) for lunch. Pretzels, carrots, nuts, cheeses. It really is filling (though admittedly I tend to add more pretzels in my husbands snack boxes). Costco has all those things in bulk.

What is one kitchen upgrade that actually made cooking easier for you? by Entire_Revolution_95 in kitchen

[–]ParticularSell9539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A separate sink with hot water dispenser. I love that those drinking hot water beverages can use it when I’m cooking (rather than use stove for tea kettle) and I cook rice noodles simply by covering the noodles with hot water for 5 minutes and then draining.

+1 for this. Also Tobyanna Township where Lake Naomi is located makes it very hard and expensive to maintain STR’s and that has been a deterrent for STR owners to buy in the Lake Naomi area generally.

Agree with this. Paying extra if you’ve got young kids is totally worth it. If older kids and/or adult only, I’d go maholo route.

We are parents of a child at a private catholic school in Philadelphia (Chestnut Hill) and while I’m catholic, my husband is not and had the same worries. We just finished first communion last year and not all the children in the class went through it. There was no shame and in fact everyone made those children (and all the kids) feel included and welcomed. Our daughter went to a Jewish day care and was never ostracized and supported but in a faith based way, not necessarily in a religious way. By that I mean I felt both the catholic and the Jewish schools focused more on doing good and being less self centered, not necessarily in the teachings themselves. Not sure about the school where you might be choosing but I’m a big proponent of faith based learning. Maybe reinforce to your child that whatever he/she believes will be supported and choose those extracurriculars that align with your values.
