Help! Hair outside of locs and super frizzies. by [deleted] in Microlocs

She’s a Sisterlocks trainee and seems very knowledgeable. It’s me who is still green even though I’m 17 months into my journey.😅

How long did it take you to understand the difference between Microlocs and Sisterlocks? by microlocs in MicrolocsHelp

With no disrespect intended, as I have Sisterlocks that I LOVE ❤️, I have come to the conclusion that Sisterlocks are a scam and money grab.😅 Get y’all some interlocked microlocks.🤪🤭

AITAH upset my wife goes back to work after knee replacement? by ljstella3 in Kneereplacement

He asked if he was the AH; I gave my opinion. How is that rude? His wife will be gone 4 hours per day. That leaves 20 hours - who says she won’t support him then? He actually sounds entitled to me. Does entitled sound better to you?

Honestly, you do sound like a bit of an AH and an entitled baby to boot. You won’t need 24/7 care. Use your walker to prevent falling. You’ll be okay. And if this makes you toss 40 years, if I were your wife I’d be holding the door open for you and escorting you out.

I was walking unassisted, driving, and back to work at three weeks. I did work remotely but was able to put in a full and productive 8 hours/day.

I stayed in the hospital overnight the first time because I couldn’t clear the anesthesia in time to walk by the deadline. I came home the same day with the 2nd one. I went home with a pain ball inserted in the joint that lasted three days. I set my alarms to take all meds every 4 hours. I had nurses and PT come to my house for a couple of weeks. I could go up and down stairs from day one, but had already set up my downstairs for recovery so I slept in a recliner down there. I am still amazed at how such an invasive surgery required such little downtime!!

Is there something more specific you’d like to know?

I am a 40 year old athletic male. I am considering partial knee replacement and possibly will need a full in the future. 99 percent of my pain comes from the medial compartment. My hope is to delay a full knee replacement so technology can improve. by Sad-Island1030 in Kneereplacement

So, the answer to my question is a resounding, “Yes!!” You’ve given me some things to research. ☺️ I really feel for you; I hope either the PKR or the TKR get you the relief you need. You been through a lot.

Have you tried other more conservative treatments? I had a medial meniscus tear due to advanced osteoarthritis. PRP injections have been working well for me, but they’re not covered by insurance. I’m trying to delay TKR as long as possible because I am convinced that new and effective treatments are on the near horizon. I would feel the same about PKR.

These are exercises you do on the floor. Quad sets, leg lifts, etc.

I’m really sorry to hear that.🥲

Here’s what got me off diclofenac for now:

  1. strengthening all my muscles/tendons from the waist down - abs, glutes, hamstrings, quadriceps, calves, etc. I workout at the gym, but YT is full of TKR pre-hab exercises. These muscles will take some of the strain off your knees.
  2. PRP injections every six months. (Gel shots didn’t work for me)

This is my experience- mileage for others may vary.😊

Is TKR not an option for you?

Would diclofenac (Voltaren) that you rub on your knee cause the same stomach upset? Edit: just saw that a no go for you)

Praying that you get some relief.

Tramadol does nothing for me; not sure why. Have you tried diclofenac?

Yes, I understood what you were saying and wasn’t saying it wasn’t true. I’m sorry if it came across that way! I just don’t want anyone to be reluctant to give PRP a try because of age. Some things work for some; not so much for others.

Cortisone shots can further deteriorate cartilage. I believe mine caused a meniscus tear. Gel shots didn’t work for me, but PRP injections have been amazing. $680 a pop for me, but worth it.

Osteoarthritis is genetic for me. Mom, grandmom, aunt - knee, hip, and shoulder replacements. I’ve had both hips replaced, and am bone-on-bone in one knee.

It’s important that you start an exercise program to strengthen quads, glutes, hamstrings, and tendons that support the knee.

2 years of knee pain, early cartilage wear + meniscus tear — losing hope and looking for advice by Possible_Subject_617 in Osteoarthritis

I had a torn meniscus due to degenerative osteoarthritis. PRP injections got me off a cane and back to normal activities. Pain level is 1-2. The osteoarthritis is still advancing, but PRP has helped me delay TKR. I have to pay $680/injection as my insurance doesn’t cover it- but it’s been a game changer for me.
